I would be afraid of a clinic that only required an HIV ; Hep test. That doesn't say much for their prodical. Bosley/MHR are notorious for using blood tests as a "bonding tool". In the case of Dr. Shapiro, it might be a case of while your at it because he does a complete workup as this is surgery and wants to have data should things go awry beforehand. No harm there. In either case you could have been recently infected and that would not show up for six months anyway as the elisia test is for anti-bodys not the virus. So....

Jolly _ All I can say is WOW. You are the quickest study I have ever seen. As B-spot said : Keep it up. Unfortunately even over here there are no authorities to sanction or punish bad doctors. Medical Boards : Turn a blind eye to miscreant behavior as it is one of their colleages we are complaining about. Even less sympathetic twords "elective cases" . It might go on the doctors file and if a pattern is show a fine may follow (wrist slap). Attorney General : Will not get involved until enough cases are presented about the doctor in question. Legal System : Costly , time consuming and structured in the intrest of the defendant/ doctor. You would also need an expert in the field to testify against him. That doesn't happen. Part of the doctors code . The only defence one has against bad doctors is education. Like the one you got here. Keep up the good work.

I hate to nitpick Bill but. Read Pat's post again .. "pare 10 years ago" regardless if they were technicly mini-grafts it really doesn't matter . Same crap different marketing. Would it make you feel better if they where the finest stereo mic'd,trimmed with respect to grouping intact fu's, chilled in ringers? Who you decide on is up to you. Weather or not you are a candidate is also for you to detemine. I unfortunately have first hand information and have seen the destruction and stolen lives created by the likes of MHR. How they stay in business is a good question. I think it is the legal system in concert with the blind eye given by the medical board that provide an atmosphere that allows them to exist. It also seems perculiar that everyone I have spoken to has been quoted 2,500 grafts and great results. I don't think they have a pattern on anything but gross rationalization and semantics. But I have heard that there is a doctor there that made his own multi- bladed knife. .... Here's the kicker . For the recipiant area on guys that have too much hair.

If you feel so strongly about it give him your number and have him jeapordize your livelyhood while he's at it.Better get back quick though because he'll plaster it on the internet GET IT? Bill- you have the heart of a lion. But.. I f I were to read between the lines here . Dr. Bernstein did all off the right things. Not only did disuade "truthseeker " from an impulsive decision and put him off for a year before surgery. He prescribed fin for a year first. This was at a consult. So dip$hit is pissed of because he wasted $40 dollars and want's an immediate response to his queries from a fine Dr. that has tolerated him for six months? A Bernstein transplant costs between 6- 10 thousand.Last time I checked. He could have taken the low road but didn't. This fine doctor did the right thing. Based on the "Chris Benoit" analogy. He was probably unstable. Good call Dr. Bernstein.... I hope he does find someone else because all he would cause Dr. Bernstein is grief. Truthseeker- I don't know what the huff is about. It's not like he rushed you into the chair. This is about a few bucks. It sounds like you broke the chain by getting involved with the insurance company and the pharmacy. Whereas if you had called Dr. Bernstein first this probably would not have happened. Sorry man- but this low priority stuff. I wouldn't be doing a step and fetch it either just to give someone a script or to be on call for their queries about insurance coverage. This comes under the heading "no good deed goes unpunished." I know when I go for a refill my doc will either call it in or I go in and get a script from him and pay for the visit then say thank you.

John - This is still an immature h/t. Those hairs are going to soften up nicely and once they are trained and get lightened up by the sun it's going to look even better. Bill - looking good. I wouldn't do a damn thing but enjoy it for a long time.

Excellent post Bill, I might add that those very people usually end up looking far worse and unnatural, chasing hairloss and scarred up for their efforts. Remember that as soon as you walk through the door you are a candidate. If you are looking to find out if you NEED a ht you are sorely mistaken.... Get in the chair STAT. They might think, Bill was a n/w 5 and look what it did for him and I am only a n/w 2. Just imagine what it could do for me. Wrong.

Fuzzy- Could you keep a journal? Write down everything you are going through every day. Take pictures along the way. One thing I noticed is that you are blaming yourself for what is going on for not doing a risk/benefit evaluation or knowing the post ht ramifications. That was not your job. It was the doctors job. This is NOT your fault. I personally would like to take him out to the 19th hole and show him how a 9 iron should be used. I am in your corner . As others have said this is not the worst. I have seen it on myself but with the help of a great Doctor (that happens to be in the coalition). I was suitably repaired and even surprised at what he was able to do. Julia- A 6cm scar along the eyebrow is pretty long. I am just wondering why a plastic surgeon was not used 2 months ago as to leave a barely noticeable scar. I might suggest you find a great plastic surgeon first to see if this is still possible. Due to his age the healing should be great. Regardless of who you use , if you go the transplant route , there are differences in texture , thickness , attainable density and angulation problems. Also maintainance as eyebrows have a terminal lenght of a 1/4"-3/8" the transplants will keep growing. This will reguire consistant grooming and waxing like a mustache. He is 15 and into sports so a scar like that could be worn as a badge of courage and add character kind of like a dueling scar. Lastly , is it bothering him or you ? Remember there is no quick fix and sage advice is not to make rash impulsive decicions while in panic mode.

Fuzzy - One thing though. Do not go back to the same guy.(I guess I'll catch some flak for that)even if it's free. Chill and stay tough for a few months. If you are going to finish this I would wait until the eight month mark and go to one of 5 or so doctors you should even let close to your head. The IAHRS has alot of better doctors than the ISHRS but it is still a pay to play organisation. I remember a few years back a young guy was messed up bad by an IAHRS doctor. By their code of conduct he should have been canned. He is still there. The same doctor was also affiliated here was dumped in a minute by Pat. So much for the credibility of these "official" sounding entities.

No , I don't think Pat is a liar.Far from it. I think he went on face value. There are alot of concerns here last but not least is gender. Take a look at the 2 following pictures fuzzy posted.
