  1. Wantitback That should turn out wonderful, I had 2140 across the entire top of my head and it has filled in wonderfully. You having that much at the front should provide excellent density. Good luck, keep posting.
  2. Scared Now, Understand your point, that is why I posted the clarification on my comments. I just feel that it is important when someone indicates it is ok to go ahead with something related to a medical issue it would be of great assistance to simply point out the source of the information. Thanks
  3. Very interesting postings. Smoothy, I came across a little harsh on that one, your posts have always been informative, what I should have said was please reference the source of your information so the rest of us could also look at the 'official' medical postings.
  4. Smoothy If you are a doc, great you should acknowledge this in the post. Giving someone medical direction whether solicited or not is really not the intent of this forum. If you are not a doc, then I would suggest relaying information about the issues to the post. Also in most states giving medical direction is illegal!!
  5. It would make sense that this would also be a concern however I am unaware of any discussion I have had that reviews this. The best and safest bet is to consult with your hair doc or family doc.
  6. The doc must be experienced, if not you may 'mothball' which will make sections of your hair look thinner compared to the other areas, a lot thinner and this can be worse that being bald. To fix you have to FUE back in the holes!!!!Holy expensive batman. There are a lot of discussions about survival rate, size of the tool to remove them, transection etc etc. Do a lot of research, talk with docs, I would start with Dr. Feller, he has taken a very aggressive approach to developing FUE and seems to be as close to an expert as possible. good luck
  7. Dude I have been on here for a long time, it is a great resource, if you want more do a Google search on Hair Transplant websites, there are some other good ones. BEWARE some are disguised as unbiased but are actually owned by clinics.
  8. Arfy Nice advise, for me F*** it, go have it done!! Merry Christmas
  9. Huha Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar) can have NASTY effects on an unborn child, especially male formation of the manly areas. That is why they are so cautious about warning people about especially if you are using Proscar which is 5mg tablets and you are breaking them apart to get the reomended dosage level of Propecia (1mg) as the residue from the tablet can be drawn into your wife's system if she comes in contact with it. If it were me I would stay far away or keep the pills at the office and wash your hands after you take them. Stick to propecia as you do not have to break those tablets apart, more expensive but that is not even an issue with this.
  10. LT To answer 1. Is the (FUE) the best way to go??? This is an exciting new technology for HT, fits well with people that need lower counts on the grafts for fill in, less work etc. The cost to do equivalent procedures (FUE vs. Strip) is approx 2/3-1 1000 FUE 6-10K 1000 Strip 3-4K. A large procedure of Strip can be done in a day, a comparable FUE procedure several days. So the moral is if you have a ton of cash, 3-5 days of surgery daily go for FUE, or strip still holds the best bang for the buck. 2. Would 500 fue grafts make a big difference since a have thinning hair about a 3 vertex? A don't think 200 made a difference for you so 500 is not a lot, most people with that level are looking at 2-4000. Use the graft calculator here it is pretty good. 3. Can anyone let me know how their experience went with FUE procedure?? Lots of people on this and other websites have FUE experience. Me I am a strip guy so cannot speak to it. GOod luck
  11. The situation sounds a little odd, 5 months and you are losing the 2nd growth of the hair. There are so many opinions I would go right to the HT doc and consult with them.
  12. LT Dorin and True are in New York, I believe there are a couple of issues that have been posted here about experiences with True several years ago, you may want to do a search.
  13. LT, If you go to the main website, hairtransplantnetwork.com and click on the 50 recomended doctors a map will appear go to Mass, Distefano is recomended by this site. Good luck.
  14. LT, here are my opinions 1. Does anyone here use the LASERCOMB and do you see good results to stop hair loss? No mixed reviews on results do a search on this site for reviews. 2. Has anyone ever heard of the CONNECTICUT HAIR and TRANSPLANT GROUP in Connecticut, DR Goldstein?? That's were I had my last HT done and probably my next HT. I would also consider Dr. Distefano, check out other docs before making a decision. 3. MY last HT 7 years ago, do you think it was a waste of time only putting 200 grafts in the front of my head and I now have to comb my hair forward to hide thinning area?? To me the 200-400 grafts at a time is old school which translates to keep coming back for more procedures making the doc more money, I would run from this place. 4. I'm about to pay $5000.00 on 1500 grafts is that about right for the price?? Sounds about right however make sure that is for 1500 grafts of 1,2 3 or 4 hairs not per hair!!! 5. Is Propecia the best product to stop hairloss?? I tried it for about six months and didn't really see my hair loss stop. THis has worked well for me in the crown area, I am now also on MSM. This
  15. LT I am in Mass, NW5 had 2140 grafts with Dr. Distefano last February, has turned out great. He has offices in MA-RI and I think CT. You may want to consider a consult with him, he is down to earth, reasonable and been doing this for a long time. Good luck, keep us informed.
  16. Nile Go see a doc that does HT repair, plenty of details on this site. Don't wast money taking away the hair that you wanted to replace your losing, have a good doc redistribute to fix the problem!!! Good luck
  17. Nile Do yourself a favor and consult with a HT doc who specializes in repair, do a search on the site for all the posts regarding this. You might as well check it out as you will pay a ton of cash for IPL might as well spend that cash on redistributing the plugs to do what you originally intended, reverse you hair loss. Good luck
  18. Gerry I have been a member for a long time but have not posted in several months. I was a fanatic about the site however after a while need a break to let my HT do it's thing. I have thin blonde hair and was a NW 5, went in for a HT in 2-04 and the results have been incredible. They key is the correct surgeon, meds and time, these have worked great for me!! I will post some pictures in the next month so you can see, my doc was Distefano in New England, let me know if you need any more info, good luck but there is hope for us thin haired guys.
  19. I was watching the Extreme makover show last night, a women undergoing a number of plastic surgery procedures including a HT. The surgeon was Dr. Rassman, 1500 FU's, did not show the longterm results, that was unfortunate. He indicated he wanted to get 3000 but the donor supply was only good for 1500, on a female? I wonder if FUE would have allowed more grafts?

  21. Dude Do yourself a favor, review the docs that are discussed and recomended on this and other sites and go to them. Make sure they use microscopes and perform Follicular Unit HT's no mini and micro grafts.
  22. Robert To quote "The physicians recommended on the Hair Transplant Network.com and granted membership in the Coalition are chosen strictly on the merits of their work." -Robert Please confirm that all the physicians on both websites are using microscopes and are working with the latest method Follicular Unit Transplantation for the benefit of the readers. Thank you

  24. There has been a lot of discussion about Propecia(finasteride) on this and other forums. The side effect is said to have an impact on a very small amount of individuals who take the medicine with many of the effects going away after a few months. There is actually a post on here about how one doctor thought taking propecia could help prevent prostate problems as it is a lower dosage of the prostate version call Proscar. There have also been a number of posts commenting on the lack of long term studies of Propecia, if you are interested look for long terms studies of Proscar instead. There is a saying every drug has side effects the issue is understanding the short and long term outlook vs. the stated benefit. Just my opinion!!!
  25. Hi to all, Telephone man here, has been a while since my last confession so here goes! Has anyone ever heard of Buyer Beware!!!! A fool and their money are soon parted!!! The pricing of a HT is whatever the doc thinks they can get for it. Everyone on this forum has read the stories of the dirtbags that do 500 grafts for several G, why, because they believe it is the proper way, hell NO because THEY CAN!!! I remember a post about a meeting that had all the idiots at Bos, MHR, Puige etc. etc., a doc stood up and said " My problem is I cannot get patients to come back for more that 7 or 8 procedures what do I do." Well there are a number of people on this forum who can tell this A**hole what to do. I would love to see this group get an informercial together to spread the word as all the other HT docs mentioned above do. These guys know and have known for years that the way to capitalize on the situation is to kick people in the balls with the personal baldness issue and stick their hands in the pockets while they are handing us the tissues!!! Why don't all the best HT docs get together kick in 5-10G each and produce an informercial, now that would be fun to watch. What the hell do I know though, just my opinion.
