  1. I was reading the Sunday paper today and guess who shows up with a new infomercial!!! They are very soft on the sell approach, same old story 'look great by coming to us' never discussing the quantity of grafts but models go from nothing to complete heads of hair. Actually referred to different sites for consultation and procedures, had the new president on a PHD and MD, showed 'consultants' who have had the procedure, I would have to say very good presentation and if I was not on this site would have called, as I have in the past just never acted. In the end the disclaimer refers to the references given were not in exchange for monetary compensation, however they are compensation for travel expenses and given procedures!!! That is it for now.

  5. I never said that M/M fill better than FU I simply stated that many docs use this method. Many times it is for budget reasons or the doc is a good artist with this method, which many are. Bottom line is do the research on the docs and choose who you are comfortable with.
  6. I have finished the Graphicyte conditioner and looking for suggestions on shampoo, conditioner and other items for ongoing treatment in addition to the Rogaine. Thanks

  10. The math in my calculation comes out to $10700 for H&W and $9600 for Lehr. Hey Jotronic will H&W match a price to get the business?
  11. Welcome to the club, as the world of HT has changed over the years the FU has become one of several methods of HT. Many doctors feel that a combination of FUT for the front hairline and larger Mini-Micro can be utilized for the mid and back to create larger fill areas. Many doctors utilize a combination of procedures for their patients depending on the application, budget, desires and longterm picture. The total FUT or partial may be the answer for many people according to my research, which consisted of a bar conversation with a former HT technician after 8 Boilermakers. While I agree with many of the points here it really depends on the person and the consult with their individual doc of choice, this is the important factor I think we can all agree on. Anyway enough from me, back to the bar I go, BTY my 6 week posts will be up soon, I am sure you are all excited by the prospect.
  12. I also started losing my hair at that age, first receding hairline on the sides through my 20's then the rest, not completely gone but very thin. I would suggest consulting with an HT surgeon about the causes and starting a regimen of Propecia and Rogaine to stem the loss. If I had a HT then it would have been very difficult keeping it from looking crazy as I lost more hair. I would not do surgery just yet, and maybe work on not being so self conscious, know it is tough but having lived through it was not so bad. Focus on keeping what you got and save surgery for later in life. Just my thoughts.
  13. Understanding the apprehension behind getting HT performed. I have been there, since I was in my early 20's lost the hair on top to the sides. I had 'crows feet' as someone once told me. I had lost even more and now that I am 40 I had it done. You indicated you went to Bosley in Boston as I did, I felt lined up at the drive through, MHR also. I eventually chose Dr. Distefano, his rates are reasonable and so far everthing has gone well although it has only been 3 weeks, very little shock loss, quick recovery etc etc. Good luck in your search.
  14. I don't know which type he used H4, I did not see a microscope in my operating room and did not learn of the differences between mini-micro and FUI. I guess the result will be in the pictures as time goes on for me. My consultant was Tim, very nice guy, liked his approach, I think all the local clinics talk about each other, he did not spend a lot of time talking about Leonard, MHR and Bosley although I did ask a lot of questions about them. I liked the Doctor himself and felt for the price it was an exceptional deal that is of course seeing the results in the end. Good luck!!!
  15. Well the last 8 days have been an adventure. I did not find this site until after my surgery and was a little alarmed at all the bad press from some of the large places I had considered (Bosley-MHR etc). I was pretty swollen on days 3-4 with a lot of scabs was not sure about going back to work but Tues-Friday of this week flew by with incredible results. The stitches came out Friday and by Saturday when I got my haircut virtually clear. I have posted a couple of pictures, comments would be appreciated. I had 2130 grafts on Friday the 27th.

  17. I recently went to Dr. Distefano, see my remarks on the board, he takes a strong interest in his patients. To early to see the results (6days) I did not look at Leonard, MHR and Bosley did not like pricing or presentation. Distefano has convenient locations also (RI and Worcester) another reason I went this direction. Good luck.
  18. I am glad I found this site, I have not seen many postings about results with Dr. Distefano so here is mine, early as it may be. I have seen the tv ads for years (Bosley, MHA, Pregue, Distefano) and decided to do it. I visited several facilities with the consultants, found Dr. D to have the most relaxed, informed and willing to talk. I am a salesguy who knows pressure, these guys were about me not about them. The price was right were I thought it should be, I thought the other places way out of site so I signed up. I had the procedure on Friday Feb 27th, so still on vacation enjoying the time off 2130 grafts. The surgery went well, very little discomfort, the staff was very attentive and humorous as I am not the best patient, Dr. D only had 2 cases that day, I felt like he paid close attention to my surgery and the outcome. I had some postop swelling which ice packs have helped this, I had the doctor's direct line, followed up with me, very attentive which is what I liked the most. As to pictures, my head looks like everyone else with pictures, red spots. I will post pictures as time goes by.
