  1. I had my HT done by Dr Rose in early May at Shapiro Medical in MN. So now it's 6 months. It was 2016 FUs. Mostly front, some mid, and a few hundred in upper crown. What a huge difference 1 months makes! At 5 months I was questioning if it was really worth it. But now at 6 months, I am VERY happy with the results and I still see little hairs sneaking up. I will post some photos in another month or so when I feel most of it is in place. My hairline looks extremely natural!
  2. I would have gone to either. Both are tops in the field. They have written papers and lectured on hairlines, etc. Since Shapiro owns the clinic he has a slightly higher fee (overhead I assume and the fact that he oversees all the operations and policies). Dr. Rose also has an office in FL, but comes to MN 2 weeks each month. They have know each other a very long time. I met Ron Shapiro while I was there.. very cool guy. He came in and saw my work too. ( Dr. Keene from AZ and Dr. Charles from FL also come every 6 weeks or so and spend a week at Shapiro Medical in MN). I just put picture in the "Post Your Own Hair Transplant Photos" section!
  3. I just wanted to let everyone know I had my HT with Dr. Rose at Shapiro Medical in MN last week. They are EVERYTHING great this site said they are! When I arrived I asked Matt and Dr. Rose if I could pay more and get more graphs. I had been scheduled for 2,000 +. He said he would try, but my scalp was not elastic enough to pull a wide strip out. So once he actually got in there he informed me he took as much as he could without stretching the opening to close to prevent a big scar. He was able to yield 2012 by days end. So they turned my money away! Everyone there was top notch! All the techs worked along side me under 6 or 7 microscopes. I was there from 7:50 AM until 7:00 PM. Dr. Shapiro had one patient all day in the other room, and Dr. Rose had me all day. They brought me lunch around 12:30. My butt got sore sitting there all day.. ha! They only thing that was tough was the shots in the beginning. I had a small HT with Dr. Robert Leonard 2 years ago in RI and I don't remember that being such a big deal. However, Dr. Rose informed that sometimes on the 2nd HT it is more difficult getting the whole scalp numb because if some scar tissue from the first one. I was high on Valuim most the day and dozed on and off with DVDs or Music on. All in all... these guys are great. Thanks to everyone at this site. He spent a lot of time on my hairline and the techs all worked tirelessly. I am very exited to see the results in the next year. I will post pics if you want.

  5. Tedd, After a lot of research, I'm having my H/T by Dr Rose done in May. I'm flying to MN to Shapiro Medical Group. Was there any advantage into having it performed in his FL office? I would think there would be a bigger staff of Techs in the MN office. Thanks
  6. Thanks JohnH, You are probably right to a degree. Funny, the reason I went to begin with was because of the crown. Since being on this site I realize that is lower priority. Here is what Matt Zipken recommended. We do think of the crown as a softball. We dived in into thirds. The top third gets about 24 graphs per sq cm. The middle third gets about 10 per square cm, the low third gets about 5 per square cm. Since the crown hair falls down with gravity, we can maximize perceived coverage with less graphs working down. Why have the lower third packed whne it will fall into thick hair. ALso since I started Propecia 2 years ago, I noticed it has slowed , almost stopped. Most of the graphs are going to the front.
  7. Crown.. looks about the same as before... a few hairs sprinkkled in
  8. Sorry I don't have before pics but I look about the same This is about 2 years after procedure. I think he spinkled about 600 in the front mixed in with my own and 400 in crown. It was not worth 7,000!
  9. I just booked my HT with Dr Rose at Shapiro's on May 6th. 2,000 - 2,500 mega session all FU!(depends on donor area for exact count). We are billing it 2,000 + session. Matt Zupkan was awesome. I learned a lot form all of you guys on here. But Matt spent 1 1/2 hour thoroughly exlpaining EVERYTHING to me about procedure, education, expectations, etc. These guys really are a role model for the rest of the industry! They have integrity, honesty, highest quality work, natural hairline, explain the proper expectations in FULL, and they don't gouge their clients. Out of Towner's pay 4.50 per graph for Shapiro and 4.00 for the other associates to help offset travel expense. They are booked up. Each Dr only has one client for the entire day. There is no rush. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks guys for all you advise. I feel like I am in great hands now. Looking forward o meeting Dr Rose. I read his artilces on Hairlines and I have read much about his reputation. 10. I bought an attacking anxiety program from an infomercial and it turned my life around (better than therapy!). There are certain things that people don't discuss publicly ( Like anxiety and H/T)... so an infomercial may be the only way to find help. That being said, it does sort of make a reputable Dr look like a marketing scheme. But as Pat said, perhaps this could give people a choice and resource. I understand the analogy about Lawyers advertising or other medical Drs., that's because most guys don't mind asking around about a lawyer. When it comes to H/T, who are you going to ask? If they look good you won't know who had them!
  11. I was going to ask this same question! This site is great. I will have to upload a few pics when I get home for advise. My crown bugs me too! I always wondered why the Drs dismiss it so quickly. However , I am 46 I have been on propecia for a year and I have thinner hair than Dorian and a slightly bigger thin spot. I have a LOT of good donar hair. The sales guy told me to put 3hair grafts in the crown, with the singles in front working back into doubles and triples.??? ANy advise?
  12. Thanks Arfy... Wow 1500 posts. You must be informed. I would say I'm at 3 vertex thinning slowly. ( although my hole on crown is slightly wider in back and Is covered slightly from Dr. Leonard). I have been thinning since my mid twenties. Never really noticed it until a few years ago when I would see myself on home videos with a white bald spot in the back! However, when I saw Leonard he suggested we should address the thinning front first. Since I've already had 1 double session with Dr. Leonard, I think I will need one mega all micro follicular session of around 1300 - 1700. And that would satify me. Perhaps one third on crown with 3 hairs for density and the other 2/3s in front. I was told at Leonard when he did mine 2 years ago he only did single, double and triple hairs. I just talked to DiStefano's office and the sales guy said they did the same but at a better price. I did not ask about Microscopes, I assumed this was good news. Leonard charged me 7,000 for a session with only 3 techs. He quoted 4,000 on front and 4,000 on crown and wanted me to do it in two visits. I asked if I could do it in one visit and get it over with and he said ok, and that he would do it for 7,000. Most or all of the grafts grew. I have very healthy donor hair. When I saw DiStefano sales guy, he said there was no way I got a mega session. Not with 3 techs and basically he feels they sprinkled a few hundred on crown and a few hundred in front. My family can't believe I paid 7K for such little hair. I will say Leonard did quality work. The hairs look natural and the scar is tiny. Although the hairs are mixed in with my own so they make it look natural. I saw Shapiro's site in FL. His hairlines look awesome. Little baby hairs and jagged. I saw other patients of Leonard and Stefano on their website and the hairline look too straight ( like a H/T). Although my wife thinks they look good. Both Drs are listed on this site. Is it normal for the Sales guy to book your session without seeing the Dr. at one of the satellite offices? At Leonard he came in at the end of the sales pitch and answered all my medical questions. With my consultation at DiStefano, I never actually meet Dr. Stefano since he was not there. My sales guy talked about price and about Leonard mostly, and how much better of a H/T they could give me. I did like the sales guy, but I'm skeptical now. ps. I'm on Propecia for 2 years thru Leonard. 13. Hi Guys, I'm new to this site. It's really opened my eyes! I'm mid 40's in RI and I looked at what others said about Dr Distefano or Dr Leonard here. The posts were 2 years old. Any new updates on these Drs?. I went to Leonard 2 years ago. Paid a lot! Didn't get much hair ( Not sure how many grafts I got because it was called a procedure and I was naive). He did nice work and they were very professional. I am looking at DiStefano, better priced. Any experiences? How do I tell you what type of baldness I have? I have seen your terms. I have a round thin spot on crown and thinning in front. Thank you in advance
