Bill. Do you have any official data to support the 90% yield in FUE? I have never heard that FUE should produce a smaler yield before. The price $10-12 you quoted is correct in most circumstances but some doctors offer FUE much cheaper. Dr Cole for example, charges $6/fraft for his version of FUE. I would also like to point out that although you do get scars from FUE the visible scarring from FUE is MUCH MUCH smaller. (The actual are of scarred tissue may even be larger but that is totally besides the point) That is why patients opt for FUE even though it is generally considerably more expensive and timeconsuming than strip. You can shave your hair down to a #1 most of the time whereas with strip some patients cant even shave down to a #4. Getting a strip HT is a decision with no return. This is OK with most people whereas some may want to have the option buzz their head in the futire in which case FUE is a better choice. I am not saying that I personally prefer FUE. Neither strip nor FUE are good enough for me to take the plunge a tthis stage but it is important that those considering a HT get all the facts. The best thing will always be to see for yourself a HT patient in person.

I'm 29 I shaved my hair last year. (Norwood 3V) I have been lurking on these forums for 4-5 years now looking for a sollution. And to be honest I would never get a strip - to invasive and you get a massive scar with the risk of nerve damage. FUE is too expensive and the results of either technique are generally too thin. (due to a lack of supply of course) So one day I just decided to shave it off to give it a try. I was lucky to have a well shaped head and it looked great. I picked up more women than before and no-one commented on my thinning hair anymore. It was easier to go out in the wind and rain without worrying about what mother nature would expose. Before shaving my head I was going to get a HT, now I can wait for better techniques since I dont mind the shaved head at all. (Having said that I would still like to grow out my hair and style it, but a shaved head is definatey better than the balding look for me.) I would suggest to those considering a HT, especially the younger ones, to try shaving your head first. Shaving your head generally makes you look less bald and in some cases its looks both great and fashionable. Is it for you? There is only one way to find out...

"FUE DOES leave scarring...make no mistake about it. That's one of the common misconceptions about FUE." -This is true, however these scars are generally not visible even at very short length as opposed to a strip scar which is ALWAYS visible at a very short length. FUE scars are many but small. Strip scars are generally just one and very big. A strip scar can also stretch which FUE scars cannot. As a result DMG's initial observation about the lack of scar with an FUE procedure not entirely wrong but it should have about a "visible scar". It is clear that you do not like FUE Bill which is fair enough. I personally dont thhink there are any HT sollutions, strip or FUE, that are good enough for me to take the plunge. I definately dont want a strip and FUE is way to expensive. I'll wait until FUE has been improved or something else comes up.

What you experienced is only natural. When you start loosing your hair, the hairs become weaker and tend not to grow as long. If you cut your hair short, you will see no big difference between the minituarizing hairs and the hairs that are healthy. As a result, when you grow your hair long, only the healthy hairs grow out, hiding the shorter thinner hairs, making it appear as if you have less hair. (Which you do - sort of) Thats why I keep my hair at about 1cm length usually. Propecia may help your minituarizing hairs grow stronger - at least for a few years.

I rarely post these days but this got my attention. It is important that everyone realizes that Advanced hair is nothing but an elaborate fraud. I made a big mistake and went to their Sydney office, spent $6000 and gained nothing but a few bottles of free minoxidil. To prove how successful the treatment has been they take photos of your scalp using a camera with some sort of magnifying glass on it so that you can see your roots up close. On your initial consultation they do this and then they do it again 6 months down the track. Only problem is they take the second round of images from a different part of your scalp - with more hair - hoping you will not notice. After the imminent failure of the lazer approach, I was offered to buy a wig, the same that the sales guy "Shane" used. Thats all they want you to do - buy a rug. And its just not any rug, its an expensive and very obvious rug. Their rugs also needs monthly maintenace that comes at a ridicoulus price. Its much cheaper and efficient to FUE your whole head with body hair in the long run. They call this "strand by strand" in a pathetic effort to make you believe they actually replace your hair, strand by strand. Its just like real hair they say - only difference is it does not grow. They have their walls covered in photos from people who have been given the lazer treatment. The before photos are wet and slicked back. The after photos are blowdried and combed forward. If anyone of you are as stupid as I was and believe in this "Advanced hair Fraud" then save yourself some money and go buy a lazercomb. Its just as useless but at least its cheaper at just a few hundred bux. Advanced Hair is a FRAUD. Nothig more - nothing less. The fact that they are actually crawling around these forums trying to gain some sort of legitimacy makes me sick. Has anyone else here experienced this? Lets build a website with photos to document this fraud and hopefully put them out of business.

Perhaps this before photo was taken before the FUE surgery but after the strip surgery. Unles he has diffused thinning the frontal third of the scalp looks like it has had something done to it. But I was also under the impression that he had 2100 grafts not 2400

Its a fraud. I know. i did the stupid mistake of going to Advanced Hairs Studios in Sydney where they use the same technique, only charge you 10 times more for it. It does not work at all. During the time I used it (12 months) I had excactly the same hair fallout as before if not slightly more. Spend your money wiser.

However I detect some sincerety in your post and I am guessing that you take your balding a bit to seriously. yes you wont look as good bald but if you cant get laid its probably because you have cant talk to women, dress poorly or have low selfesteem. Corpo Ive not had a HT myself but i do also have thin hair and according to the docs I have had consultation with there are other factors to take into account. Such as: Your hair and skin colour. If you are caucasian then blonde hair is better. Fine hair is good for the hairline but obviously requires more hairs to reach a decent result. It depends on your expectations. Guapo

JTF has got a valid point here I think. It would not really make a difference if he did get a mature hairline implanted now instead of later. I think that with FUE the chances of a disaster are reduced a fair bit. I mean he can just forget about it later if he looses hopelessly much hair and just shave his head. A shaved/buzzed head with just a hairline looks better than a shaved head without a hairline anyway. (look at Vin Diesel) The hairline should be mature and not too dense however and it must be FUE. i agree I cant believe how much i know about this whole stuff as well and Im still a bit of a rookie here and i havent had anything done either. I too spoke to a friend of mine who wanted to get one done at Dr Barry White in Sydney but I said go see Dr Woods instead. Probably saved his life.

That looks pretty damned good to me. I cant believe its only 1500 grafts, especially considering your hair is black and you are fairly white skinned. I mean youve gone from a balding guy to a guy with a bit of recession which I personally think looks pretty good. You appear to look a lot younger. I have similar hairloss to what you had and I am getting 1500-2000 FUE's this summer an I am only hoping to get a result like yours. Im impressed. What do the people around you say?
