  1. My view on these type "which doctor" threads is this. If I were a newbie looking for info, would I be beter served by listening responses from other posters who have either had just one HT or in some cases never had one (sorry NG2GB)?? By eliminating the experienced guys like BSpot or Spex or Jotronic on these threads, that newbie is at a disadvantage in my view. I have had 3 HTs and a 4th in the old plug days (I dont count that one as it was in the dark ages), and I cannot hold a candle to those guys mentioned and their respective knowledge of HT techniques. I would suggest that you let them all post as long as they don't bash other doctors/clinics, surely they have the ability to PM the newbie as well, but I enjoy reading what these wise ones have to say. When it is all said and done, it will always fall on he patient to make the decision. I think it is best they get all the input they can. Bill, when you make posts that say: "we don't understand", that insults the our intelligence. I think that turns people off and if it continues you will be left with a lot less veterans helping out here. JMO
  2. Gimmehair, I am not African American - just a HT brother. Good luck, your work looks very good in the recipient area. ake good care of your scar area, make sure not o srain or stretch the area too much. It is the one area that A-Americans seem to have more trouble with. Us white guys can grow the mullet LOL and cover it up. Heal well my friend!
  3. Wow, No need to dress down a respected member of the forum publicly for this. Lighten up a little Bill. I understand that you have to have rules to enforce and respect that you have to make tough calls, I just would give him the beneifit of the doubt over a first time poster shilling for a clinic. I agree with NN, lets keep it fun and informative at the same time.
  4. Amazing, Pushes one clinic and takes a shot at another all in his first post, why not go for the trifecta? Mr. X - you have no credibility here.
  5. I have not heard good things about Giannato. Check out DR. Lindsey - he is in the same area as Giannato. At least get another opinion from another Doc, since you have not had great results from your current.
  6. I know that site is graphic but it is what went on and the truth. Janna, I am sorry to hear that these cases still go on. I feel sorry for our Indian or foriegn country brothers who do not have the access to new techniques. These Docs in those countries need to step up here game or be exposed. I applaud those couple of docs who are open to scrutiny putting up sub par work. Hope they do not do further damage to guys though in the process.
  7. I agree with NN, and this really strikes a nerve wih me. Remember back in the 1980's withou he interne, we relied on animated pics in the newspaper showing a guy who was bald, now with hair. You went to a shady consultant (at least I did at 23 and naive), he showed you pics of after photos of curly haired guys who already had a lot of hair. Naturally, no close up of the hairline or details of the procedure, only that it was like re-seeding the area. Thats what I was told. I figured these things would grow like zoysia grass spriggs. Spread out sort of and grow like weeds. DUHH. How dumb was I. Anyway, luckily, I did not have that many done and they were repaired by Dr. Vogel. Nightmare is over but I would have never had plugs and I am sure many guys would not of had they known the real "after" result. I will also say that when planted with in native hair, like mine were, they did not show till I lost the native hair so in my 40's, I had to address it. Thankfully, technology has evolved and plugs can be repaired as you have seen. Although it turns out to be a very costly process, it is well worth it to look natural again. Not to scare anyone but he history of this procedure and how barbaric it was is documented here: http://www.angelfire.com/indie/hairtransplant/punch.html For you newbies, at least now you have forums like this so you can learn much more than we did back then. Techniques are so much beter, night and day. But, HT is no walk in the park, do your research and choose a qualified doctor. Be wary of todays deceptions from places like Bosley: "Its like a trip too the dentist" "You can go back to work the next day" This are deceptive tactics, it is quite traumatic to take a long strip of scalp, have hundreds of stitches or staples in the back of your head for a 10-14 days, then you have thousands of small recipient sites created as well. It all heals up in time, but my point is that you will want a week off at least for this. Two weeks even better! Having said all that, it is worth it in many cases. If I were NW 7, I wouldn't bother to go thru all this for a so-so result, just accept baldness. Hows that for a vent! LOL.
  8. Wylie, He definetly had themm and had them removed. Not sure how but like you say, no evidence of them now, big improvement. I had a few of mine removed and redistributed and went for more FU's and mine are not detectable now. Technologies have advanced thank goodness.
  9. Wylie - LOL You know the old saying: "you get what you pay for" not true huh?? Actually, if you buy the $400 model you may get better results??? Nah. Just kidding bro, next time put that $50 to a movie and dinner!
  10. I would trade in a few inches for a full head of hair. I would have to stop when I get down to 8 inches though.
  11. Dr P. While it is nice you did not charge this patient, will you repair the damage done here or reimburse him. He will need more work to cover up this subpar work, that could cost $$$.
  12. Gizmo, Go with those hot soaking baths in the donor area, should help loosen it up some. Its not a permanent condition, skin will stretch back.
  13. NN - I almost choked on that thought! LOL!!
  14. TA, This is why newbies in their early 20's should not get HT, NW7 looks better bald than trying beat it with a HT. Isn't it funny that in the ring, baldness can actually intimidate others. Outside the ring, baldness is sometimes intimidated by guys with hair!!
  15. He got rid of them somehow and you cannot notice any scarring, he must have had laser removal and dermabrasion or something. Big improvement with his bald look over those hideous plugs he used to sport. He is now an announcer for the NBA, on ESPN right now. Wonder who did his repair?
  16. Chucky, was it Jagdish? PGP, tell us how you really feel! LOL. I agree.
  17. I agree wih Bill, it looks like stadium seating pattern. However, it may not look terrible when it grows out. I would not say this is top work.
  18. I think it will improve with time, avoid stretching the area, it may take a few more weeks.
  19. Provided you can get away with the hat, your worst time may be 3-5 days post op swelling to the face. Some get it some dont, ask Dr Feller about it. Dr Feller shaves the recipient area, do you have native hair there? If you did not shave, it would be easier to conceal the work.
  20. After 9-10 days you can wash more frequently, grafts are set. Use Aloe gel, non-alchohol to reduce the itchy feel.
  21. Aquarius, Nelly has you pegged! I will look for you on the news in the future. After pulling my grafts out trying to figure out your language, I like to unwind with a Rubix cube and a game of chess,
  22. Pushing 40, Very happy for you my friend, BTW - Avodart is for shrinking the prostrate, and works against hairloss. Will your insurance question the use? Some of the copays are picky. Good story, glad your HT has been a success.
  23. NN, I am very happy for you my friend, your results to date look very natural and I see no evidence of the old work. Your scar looks great and I think things are going to blend in very well once it all grows out. I think your month 8-9 will be awesome. Keep your chin up, (hides the crown better, lol) your just ready to see some bigger changes now.
  24. Aquarius, That is funny! I love your sense of humor - when I can understand it!
