  1. Thank you! I am about six weeks out and it is still nice and thin, max about a sharpie marker line. Really hoping it stays that way.
  2. Agreed. I have had the exact same concern on both of my procedures. I shed early both times, and it did not happen symmetrically on both sides. As long as the immediate postop looked fine, and there was no trauma/bleeding to suggest lost grafts in the first few days…. Just have to be patient and trust the process process over the next year
  3. At what point in time would you consider an FUT scar safe from significant stretching? Let’s say it looks good, pencil thin, at around 6 weeks post op? When is someone out of the Wds?
  4. I can’t vouch personally for the others, but I’ve been very happy with my 2 FUT procedures with Dr. Bloxham. I have over 7k grafts, full coverage. I’ve seen a few scattered sub-par outcomes on here/reddit over the years but by and large overall very positive.
  5. I’ve been reading more about this… and came across some saying that early shedding tends to correlate to early growth? In the grand scheme, I know it really doesn’t matter… But it would be nice if true!
  6. Thank you. I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance here… an area in my hairline looked a lot more bare, as if several grafts were missing, four days after surgery. Never saw any blood, no trauma. I did sleep normally in my bed on that night, as directed by my surgeon. I presume it is true that no blood = no lost graft.
  7. 1) what’s the earliest shedding occurs? Can it happen sooner than one week post op? 2) do fine singles tend to shed sooner than the thicker multis? thanks
  8. I have never heard of a case with Bloxham doing more than about 4k in a single day. Perhaps they’re out there, but not in prior posts here or his YouTube channel to best of my knowledge. I think he is solid and as a prior patient of his, I’m very happy with my results. That said, HW have been doing this longer. I am curious to know how they can get such a big strip, 5k plus, without more significant risk of scar stretching.
  9. Most posts on here over the last few years have recd Wesley, Dorin, Bloxham.
  10. While it is definitely a big improvement compared to the preop pictures, I agree, I wouldn’t be satisfied with that outcome for the amount of grafts, cost, scar and caliber/reputation of the doctor. This is coming from someone who has had two procedures with him. Sorry you’re in this situation Given that, I agree with your concerns. I would want to know very specifically what will be done differently the second time around (regardless of same doctor or different) in the hairline and why the outcome would be expected to be different.
  11. Both first and second. I’m NW 6, needed full scalp done. Both FUT.
  12. I did not come across any in Philly/NJ. I went to Bloxham in NY and am happy with results. There’s also Wesley and Dorin in NY.
  13. Just curious, why is that? Just grows better/easier in the hairline due to the better blood supply? What would some do in the crown that others don’t, to have it grow better back there?
  14. I had several like that months down the line on the scar and a few areas in recipient where initially had heavier scabbing.
  15. Bingo Can get allergy tested to be certain, but this was a freak thing that can happen with any procedure using high volume of local anesthesia (lidocaine)…. most likely can still get a hair transplant.
  16. Not necessarily an allergic reaction…. Everything, except rash, sounds like some of the lidocaine went intra-vascular (ie in a blood vessel, an artery) by accident. I wonder if the IV med they gave you was steroids for allergy vs intra-lipid for lidocaine toxicity. In addition, even if this was a true allergic reaction, you can get allergy testing and determine which of the other local anesthetics you can use. Most common are the “amides” (lidocaine, marcaine etc). Esters are another type which may still be viable.
  17. Not sure re the factors contributing to your scar. I’m certainly no expert, so not sure how much yours will get smaller/contract as it matures versus not. I’d say I am pencil thin to slightly more on one side. Havent exactly seen the back, but covered well with hair at 3 guard. on the other side, there is several inches where I’d say 3 mm perhaps very slightly more, but haven’t held up a ruler to it. Still covered with a three guard nonetheless, slight layering effect of the hair on that side when it’s freshly cut, but don’t think anyone notices that but me.
  18. Roughly the same timeline. Hairline started to look good from straight ahead, ie pictures/mirror, around month 5/6. From above, behind hairline, didn’t look decent til month 8/9. Overall I’d give my hairline an 9-10/10, behind it 6-7/10. I’ve seen that written about in several other Bloxham reviews, ie more sparse than anticipated behind hairline. Overall…. I am happy. 2nd FUT for crown and reinforcing midscalp coming up soon. Scar- based on comparing to the finger next to it, yours is a little wider in that area. Some of mine is 1-2mm. One side is 3, maybe 4mm. Covered well with a 3 guard.
  19. I think the red area is scar itself. May be some shock loss still around it. That said, scar is still immature and as it matures will become pale and contract to somewhat. Otherwise, looks on track for 5 months, should really start to take off, fill in/thicken up over next few months.
