  1. You look like you have very straight and fine hair. It looks nice but it’s not as good for coverage. Cautious hairline was a wise choice.
  2. It actually does matter. Someone can do a thousand transplants on Chinese hair and pick up habits and assumptions that won’t do him good when he gets a patient with African hair. That’s quite an extreme example but surgeons will inevitably have a biased sample of patients based on their area. Luckily your hair type is quite common and it shouldn’t be hard to find someone with lots of experience with it. Which docs are you considering ?
  3. The work looks clean, the photos high quality, and you chose a good doctor, but we can’t really see what your hairline looked like before surgery because of your (admittedly highly effective) combover. Do you have any photos of the hairline before surgery? You look like you have excellent donor quality and a fine head of hair, with DHT blockers you should get a great outcome for years to come.
  4. It is see through, but it’s only half way done. I would expect about 25% more density to come, since I’d say about 50% of the hair is from prior transplants and natives. You have great hair texture for achieving lift and coverage. I appreciate the good quality photos. Would you be able to take pictures outdoors in sunlight?
  5. Notice that the hair at the front is angled more diagonally in the first photo, which always makes it look denser. Second photo looks thicker despite the hair being angled more vertically. Definitely looking good.
  6. If only we unlocked 1000 free grafts every rank
  7. That is a serious complaint. It’s not okay to agree to fill in a scar, and then for them to just not do it, without warning or explanation before hand. Maybe they felt beard hair wouldn’t take in the scar or it wasn’t worthwhile, but that’s something they should have told you before.
  8. Question for those who have used oral minoxidil (for at least 6 months, preferably): have you noticed excess body hair or beard hair growth that you attribute to the minoxidil? It’s commonly accepted that topical minox can grow hair on the areas it’s applied to. So I am interested in if anyone can personally attest to similar effects in the systemic oral version. Also interested if you’ve noticed minoxidil, oral or topical, affecting skin health and quality.
  9. You need to wait longer than 2 weeks to see results from finasteride try 6 months. Retrograde shouldn’t exclude you, but yours seems unusually severe. Give the medicine time though.
  10. Beard graft quotes vary a lot because surgeons have different ideas of where they’d draw the lines. If you mark out the areas you want filled in it would help with graft numbers. Be careful when drawing the cheek line, and filling in anything under the lower lip.
  11. This is true, but some men may want a fuller beard before then. And you might get to 40 and it’s still not thick enough so you feel like you’ve wasted 20 years waiting when you could have just got surgery decades ago.
  12. Taking grafts over a vast area actually reduces the chance of overharvesting. Overharvesting is more common is they take all the grafts from a small, concentrated area. How many grafts did you get? It may just be shock loss.
  13. I believe dr Bonaros, Lupanzula, Heitmann, Ahmad do the majority of the work personally. There’s nothing wrong with the surgeon only approach. It just means you can do fewer grafts in one go.
  14. This might be the only place where people are able to tell apart identical twins by their hairlines.
  15. It’s possible he’s had the same hairline since he was a boy so yes
  16. Oh I'm not saying you deserve it I'm saying that's basically what this doctor's saying in her website. Some docs are basically con artists, they'll talk the talk but won't walk the walk. Many of them know they're deceiving their patients and producing bad results, and just don't seem to care.
  17. We need more vocal unhappy patients to speak up with evidence. Every time a botched patient posts their results, a dirtbag doctor malds.
  18. If you smoke cannabis there is a chance the embers will set your hair on fire. This can potentially cause damage to the skin and scarring alopecia. Thankfully the chance is small. Okay, I'm mostly joking, but now that I think of it most hairsprays are flammable so I do wonder if it happens on occasion...
  19. Something like this is more typical for nw1 men. Not receded, but still angular and "sharp", and the midpoint is a tad lower than the sides. Although I've a suspicion this guy has had his barber trim it a little.
  20. It's a little late for that now! A lower design would mean sparser coverage
