  1. No it's not backhanded, this is common terminology in the hair obsessed community! Coarse just means each hair shaft is fairly thick, usually measured in microns. Wiry refers to a sort of kinky, wavy texture. It's a good thing. Having very straight, fine hair is the worst for achieving density. Most of us would love to have coarse hair.
  2. Your hair looks coarse and wiry, I imagine it’s not hard for you to get volume. Looking good.
  3. Good, maybe you were lucky. I'd like to know statistics on this. Just how many people are stopped and questioned about it? Unfortunately I'm sure no such stats exist.
  4. Congratulations, it’s looking good. Your lighter hair color helps as well. The postop design looks natural and refined, which shows in the result. Do you notice more density on top as well?
  5. I’d still wear a helmet for wrestling, tree felling or cycling. Anything that would damage normal hair, will damage grafts. Personally I don’t trust 2 week old grafts to be at full health yet, so I’d still take caution. They’re tough cookies, but they’re also your precious babies, keep em safe. Better safe than sorry. Chlorine from swimming can potentially still hurt them. Avoid too much direct sunlight too.
  6. A neck pillow. And try to not ‘look suspicious’ if that makes sense. Airport security may hassle you and ask you to remove any head covering protecting the grafts. If they do, tell them you’ve had surgery. If they insist on checking you, ask to go somewhere private. and don’t bang your head on the plane.
  7. - restore all your hair Biotech and rejuvenation are picking up steam now. I think it will happen. - in less than a month No. Well, think how long it takes a shaved head to grow long hair. It takes a while. The best you could hope for is that. Unless they invent some drug that accelerates hair growth massively. - in the near future No. It’s not going to happen. Maybe in ten years, maybe in twenty. But for now, the answer is no. Then again, you could get it all back instantly with a hair system
  8. It looks good, just hop on fin for now and consider getting some concealer. Toppik powder would be a cheap, effective and risk free solution for now. Most of us would love to have hair like yours, so be grateful for what you have and relax. The odds are in your favor.
  9. Learn the science of hair loss, the science of hair transplantation and other treatments, and find a particular surgeon who does good work and suits you. Youtube has a lot of good info. JT, Alan Feller and BHR clinic have good educational videos. As for picking a doctor, you need to assure quality of work and ethics. Those for me are mandatory. They must be able to reliably produce high yield, natural looking results. Look for surgeons who show off their work in detail, with high quality videos and photos. Avoid anyone who seems to use too many marketing tricks and who doesn’t show off their results in high detail. Then decide what else you care about such as price, distance and the number of grafts they can do in one session. Some surgeons are good but only tend to do smaller sessions.
  10. Great documentation, the hairline looks very natural with good density, use of fine singles and micro irregularities for a soft look. Amusingly, he does remind me of Henry Cavill. Do you have any pictures postop or of the donor?
  11. 14.5 thousand grafts…unbelievable. You were a depleted nw6 and soon you’ll have the hairline of a young man. I imagine this has restored confidence and faith in humanity, congratulations.
  12. Minoxidil works by extending the anagen (growth) phase of the hair. At any time, up to 20% of your hair may be in the telogen (resting) phase, wherein the follicle lies dormant under the skin rather than producing hair. Minoxidil should basically prolong the time your hairs are active . so it can effectively increase density, but it doesn’t actually do much to stop the effects of DHT related miniaturisation and alopecia. So it might appear to give you more hair, but they’ll likely end up shrinking too. I trust DHT inhibitors more as a long term treatment. Minoxidil is more ancillary. Give minox a bash. It’ll probably do some good. But I’d stick to the fin as well. I believe side effects are overrated, people worry too much. I’ve never noticed any sides from it. A relaxed attitude is a healthy one.
  13. You seem to be thinning over a large area. Without stabilising with meds, you’re playing a game of catch-up by transplanting areas as they fall. Best thing you can do is finasteride, and dutasteride if fin is not enough. if you can stabilise, you almost definitely have enough grafts to restore a full appearance of density. Maybe 1000 at the front and 1000 in the mid to back would be enough. it’s understandable to want to be conservative because you’re young, so I get why you’re reluctant to spend 2000 grafts. But the grafts should last a lifetime (more or less), and you’d end up using them anyway in the long run, so I don’t see much downside to using them now. They’ll remain even if the native hairs fall, so it’s not as if they’d be wasted. The main concern with wasting grafts is if you dense pack a particular area and then run out of grafts to cover another area that thins.
  14. Relax, you will be fine. Surgeons and techs touch the grafts during surgery, they can handle it. Your hairline should end up nice and natural by the look of the design too.
  15. It looks a bit pluggy because the caliber seems high but the density is low, this is a common tell of a transplant to the experienced eye. Don’t worry, your case is far from the worst I’ve seen and you can definitely fix this, as others have said. Lupanzula is a great doctor, as are the others mentioned here (many of which are also in Belgium, as it happens). you could have the worst grafts removed and reimplanted with proper angulation, but I believe 1000-2000 grafts would make a huge difference to the density and naturalness on their own. You could potentially lose a lot of ground without meds. Meds are like a dam, but you can’t always see how much water they’re holding back. Be careful, and remember many side effects are only temporary.
  16. You appear to have good donor traits. The hairline looks slightly receded, but most of the issue seems to just be mild translucency of the front and crown. You could probably fix that without surgery, simply by using concealer. Your hair looks fairly dense but fine, in the areas of concern. Implanting hairs there could potentially cause damage to the native hair. if you go to a good surgeon, you could probably fix it all for 1000 grafts, honestly. The crown, by the way, looks normal for someone without hair loss. Even in people without thinning, the middle of the crown can show some scalp.
  17. No they do not all use the WAW system. Some use the Harris Safe system, some use the Trivellini Mamba. Many other models exist. The WAW seems to be a good one, but there are others. Manual seems to be falling out of favour as it takes more time and can irritate the wrist. At the end of the day the tool is only as good as the hand that wields it. Manual is not necessarily always better.
