How long were sutures in?

I’m not saying FUT doesn’t have its place, there are patients that may be better suited for FUT. Especially women, who wear their hair long.
I’m simply saying many of the things that were pushed a decade ago, no longer have any merit. It still works, it still grows hair. But it’s no longer a gold standard and hasn’t been for quite some time. But I do believe surgeons should still at least offer it, because some patients may be better suited. But in my opinion, it’s a small minority overall.
Okay I can respect that. I agree it is a small minority and totally up to the patient. Fue is the gold standard and I believe that but fut can still benefit some who may not have a good donor and need every last graft.

The safe zone varies from person to person. This notion of a “universal safe zone” has been debunked several times. Even amongst Norwood 6/7s there’s viable hair outside of the strip zone that could be utilized, this is why this entire argument is silly at this point. It’s like debating streaming vs. cable TV.
But it doesn’t take away from the use of fut and its importance to some. And if it is outdated in your mind then I’d reconsider some doctors you have on the recommended list who are big believers in fut and its importance. I definitely firmly think fue is great but fut still 100% has its place

I disagree, I’m someone who was young and a Norwood 6/7, as is @Bandit90 I’m so happy I didn’t get strip. I can wear my hair short, chances are I would’ve needed a scar revision with FUT. The larger the strip, the higher the chance of a stretched scar. This thinking is outdated. Now, you see 7-10k grafts with FUE all the time. Look at @HugoX
Well yes but you can always fue into the scar. Also most massive mega sessions are not taking 100% safe zone grafts. Those grafts could easily thin or die just like the tip of your head. It is pretty much impossible to get 10k grafts in a safe zone

tbh many people who start balding end up norwood 5/6, for those fut would beneficial for sure. i think its even the majority of people with the balding gene? how many people stop balding at norwood 3, 4? not the majority i think
I have no clue. Would be interesting to know stats on that

also no doctor can tell me what bad and good laxity is so im really leaning towards fue. would be really a downer to fly to nyc for example just for bloxham to rub your scalp and telling you that your laxity isnt good lol
btw what do you guys think of saifi approach to let a small area untouched when doing fue in case the patients needs more graft down the line and wants to do fut?
Very true. I find that interesting. Pretty smart honestly. Is Saifi good though? I’ve heard mixed reviews on density

ya
apparently it can be up to 3k grafts more, i think that really puts fut back on the menu
No I agree with you fue is better in majority of cases but if you are young have great laxity and are bound to a high Norwood then I’d say fut should still be considered. Some people heal great too so I understand if fut is on the table for them. But fue is the present and the future of the industry

Poor laxity= stretched scar, the larger the strip size, the lower the laxity means an increased chance of a stretched scar.
I think he means my 1.5k-2k more lifetime grafts with fut into fue than fue alone. Pretty sure Dr Shapiro had a study about two years ago regarding it. Yes fue has advanced but no one would ever perform fut if you only got 500 more grafts. You definitely are getting over 1,000.

how many grafts supposedly do you have more when yoi start with fut? 500-1000?
and that only if your scalp has good laxity…
imho not worth the risk anymore
No it is easily 1.5-2k more. But if you have bad laxity then yes not worth it

Isn’t one of the draws to fut that it takes hair from the safe zone while fue takes some grafts outside of the safe zone? So really these large fue cases could easily lead to thinning years down the line?
-
I think the hairline looks great for 7.5 months. He still has 5 months or so to thicken. I don’t think there is a need for a touch up free of charge unless OP is willing to add more grafts at his cost. We have to remember that hair transplants don’t give us natural density. This looks like someone who has aged but no one would assume he is balding

I don’t believe that FUT will yield more grafts. I used to believe this, but the fact is that stripping out is not a good idea due to scar stretching. I don’t believe anyone should get more than two strips. The possibility of having an unsightly stretched scar is too high to recommend.
Oh I was viewing it as fut first than fue compared to just fue. But who knows maybe it wouldn’t matter. Big fue cases are taking hair outside of the safe zone too though while a good fut is usually in the safe zone. But yes multiple strips leads to big scars should rarely do more than 2

Well yes it is more popular but it is very case to case for the benefit to each patient! I still believe if done correctly fut will yield more grafts in the long run but if you are on medication and have hair loss under control than fue is certainly better!

Didn't see too many cases from him but he is a reputed doctor and very much experienced surgeon ...from my knowledge he prefers fut plus fue in high nw cases...have seen some of the cases which he himself presented on this forum which looked natural...where as scar goes ,it also depends on patient's skin and there will always be a bit of risk of scar geting stretched ..have even seen dr bisanga's patient with big scars..so its not always doctor's fault ...
Interesting. Does he dense pack usually?
-
What are the overall thoughts on his clinic? ISHY had a good case even though the scar wasn’t the best but he is one doctor I don’t see a ton of patient reviews on. Is he good with density and minimize fut/fue scarring?
-
Is it getting worse? The back isn’t as bad but the sides don’t look great. If it was to stay like that I’d assume you could get some grafts for sure but don’t know where it will end up

Isn’t xyon gel 100/month? Are there any cheaper?

The best way to deal with fut scars is not to do fut, as you never know how your scar will get stretched after surgery.
But what is the time frame on the scar still stretching? Like 2 years after I’d assume it won’t stretch?

You cut it up because it's bigger
It's okay and people have been doing it for decades
Oh okay sweet. I didn’t know if cutting up the pill would make it lose its effectiveness

Name brands are more reliable than generic. Your best bet for finasteride is Propecia and Proscar. Propecia is a pill you take once a day. Proscar is a bigger pill you cut into quarters or fifths and take one piece daily. It’s cheaper but a little more work to use simply because you have to cut it up.
I would recommend oral minoxidil rather than topical. It’s a lot less hassle to use and it’s more effective. But I don’t know brands.
Is Proscar any less effective since you cut it up I assume it loses its value? Also if you cut it 4 ways and take one a day then parts of that cut up pill are just sitting waiting to be used. So I wonder if that impacts effectiveness since it isn’t a whole pill waiting to be taken

I can't speak to your candidacy but I will advise you not to get an FUT at all costs. It must be FUE because if your balding is very advanced you want the option to be able to shave your head if things don't work out. You don't want a grizzly scar on a shaved head.
You still have thousands of white dots all over your head.

Is his donor bad? Looks fairly good to me

So i think when you are from EU Bisanga does this. But Feriduni not? Is this a matter of interpretation of what is legal or what?
I have no clue to be honest. I’ve just heard it is hard to get around

@Tommie They quoted me 5 euro + euro for regular graft and 10 euro + vat for repair. Is it possible to avoid VAT with Feriduni? I think it can be done when you have doctors recommendation to do the procedure. I would have to pay arou d 10k euro with VAT just for the first surgery of punchouts.
Probably not.
