  1. 1.immediately post op : 10 2. 3 months :7 3. 6 months :5 4. 12 months: 2 (surgery on Dec. 17th, 2008) 5. scalp sensations have not come back to pre HT levels (recipeint AND donor areas) female strip surgery 1925 grafts - top of head Dr Rahal
  2. I'm also a female. I had HT (FUT) with Dr Rahal in December 2008 (1925 grafts) and I'm extremely pleased with the results. I had thin hair all over my head ...but mostly on top which is where the HT was done. (42 sq inches) After 8 months, my "new" hair is still growing and it really is making a diffference. My hair is not as see-through as it was... I too thought that I was not a good candidate for HT but Dr Rahal felt he could help me. Feel free to ask me questions as there are not too many females here..
  3. The needles!!! ouch!!! But it does not last for very long...No pain whatsoever during surgery..
  4. I had FUT with Dr Rahal in December 2008. The pain level was at its highest on the first couple of nights. Pain medication helped a little...Lack of sleep + lots of swelling (4-5 days) made it pretty uncomfortable for the first 14 days. I wondered what I had gotten into... Then, when the sutures were taken out, things really got better: I could finally sleep through the night. Redness and itchiness lasted around 3 months. That being said, I would do it all over again...(but glad that I don't need to!) I am very pleased with my results. I have no regrets. 1925 grafts with Dr Rahal
  5. Buy a travel pillow...it will help you sleep throught the first nights...
  6. Yes, you will definitely sleep better once the sutures are out...Hang in there!
  7. I know how you feel. I'm also at the 6 month mark (surgery December 17th, 2008)...Hair is growing but for now there's not a huge difference from before...Dr Rahal told me to be patient because it could take up to a year.. We just have to be patient. Hang in there!
  8. A travel pillow really helped me sleep for the first 14 days..
  9. Thanks Wantego...yes I am a 46 year old female (not a dude and not a kid) and French speaking. I thought this was obvious with my name...sorry guys. There are not too many females here! I had HT to increase density not to cover a large bald area like a lot of you guys who go through HT + I had one particular bald spot on top near the hairline...probably due to the way I styled my hair for many years when I was younger. I really wanted this covered up with HT and as I mentioned before, I don't really see any new growth in that spot...But as I was told, 6 months is early and there are still chances that new hair will grow. That's all I wanted to know.... Thanks again for the encouragement...and I will post after pictures later...
  10. Thanks everyone..Adrian called me today...very thoughtful...I will wait it out and see.
  11. Help! I need reassurance. 6 months today since my HT with Dr Rahal. My hair is growing well but I' m a bit worried because I still have a bald spot where no hair seem to be growing. Any chances on that bald spot staying that way or is it still possible to see some new hair growing in the next few months? When do "new" hairs stop coming out? Dr Rahal 1925 grafts; 3675 hairs

  13. Make sure you get a travel pillow to sleep through the first few nights...it really really helps..
  14. Dr Rahal is a lot more conservative than most doctors. If I remember correctly : Wash hair twice a day but not directly under the shower for the first 30 days. I mixed baby shampoo in a cup of water and poored it gently on my head...no massaging of the recipient area. Vitamin E oil on recipient area until sutures are out. Sutures were out after 14 days. You can then massage the donor area but lightly. Aloe vera on recepient area helps with the redness and itchiness (the pulp not the gooey stuff if using a real plant) Started washing normally and massaging 30 days after surgery..I remember how I couldn't wait for those 30 days to go by.. When pimples appear (2nd or 3rd month), apply witch hazel or hot compresses. First 3 months: patience required as shockloss may occur and you may look worst than before surgery. I wore a hat or headband for exactly 4 months...but I'm a female and I looked strange with long hair and a brushcut on top of my head! Fourth month: things start happening... I'm now at the sixth month mark and it's looking good! Good luck
  15. I'm a female who had HT with Dr Rahal in December 2008...22 weeks ago. It was hard to notice any difference for the first 3 months since I had lots of native hair to start with. Dr Rahal worked on increasing the density. But the strange thing is that my hair is now growing the other way...I always styled my hair left to right but now this is impossible ..it's growing in the other direction! Has anyone experienced this?

  17. Hi Life 09... I met you at Dr Rahal's office the day after your surgery. I was the lady who was in for a five month check-up. Hope everything goes well and that you are getting some sleep! Looking forward to seeing your results!
  18. Dr Rahal said I could massage very very gently after 30 days .
  19. I "slept" in a lazyboy with a neck pillow for the first 72 hours...After, with lots of pillows like Eman. Once the sutures were out, after 14 days in my case, sleeping was much easier.
  20. Good for you!...but...I am so jealous!!!! I had 1925 grafts for a total of only 3675 hairs...snif snif..With all the good results I've seen with Dr Rahal, I must be the one with the lowest count of total hairs... Dr Rahal is great and I am positive you will love the results...
