  1. I do agree with Sunny in that most women prefer a man with a full head of hair, since I have been balding and shaving down to disguise it many females have said that they preferred my hair longer (also I have a head shape where shaving down looks ok). I would agree that the vast majority of men shaving their heads are balding to some degree, and I agree with Sparky in that it looks better in most cases. Unfortunately I think shaving right down for Caucasian males is not that great a look, because of things like shine, though Patrick Stewart pulls it off well.
  2. Thaks Thana I have been on Avodart 0 .5mg for about four months now but have been taking one Propecia every third day. I got on Avodart only after hearing another forum member say that a coalition doctor recommended that they take Avodart instead of Propecia as it is more effective. My hair loss is mainly at the front and temples and Propecia did nothing to stop it in a whole year, though maybe it did slow it down. I was hoping to gradually build up my regime to taking one Propecia and one Avodart daily but I am reconsidering this if they have no additional benefit to Avo alone. I really do not want to take 1mg of Dutasteride as I am scared of gyno. I also don't want to give Propecia away as it is approved for hair loss unlike Avo and doctor Rassman seems dubious of Avodart's its effectiveness. Cheers
  3. I think I might just gradually build up to start taking two Dutasterides-1mg. Would anyone happen to know how much of a reduction in serum DHT there is at this level? Cheers
  4. Thanks flac, I will give the Propecia away then. Does taking two Avodarts a day block more DHT though than one? Cheers
  5. I was recently told that Propecia and Avodart taken together bears no fruit as it still blocks the same amount of DHT as Avodart alone. Could some hair restoration Doctor on the forum please tell me whether this is correct?
  6. Sorry for my ignorance mate, but they both are blocking the type II enzyme. Maybe a Doctor could chime in here because it would sure save me alot of money if Einstein is right. Cheers
  7. That I think propecia combined with Avodart would be more effective than Avodart alone. Cheers
  8. Quote: "Avodart is a highly potent medication that inhibits both type I and II of the 5AR and Propecia, while also potent, only inhibits type II." So you would be decreasing more of the type I enzyme, (probably not by much though). I have even heard doctors tell patients to increase their procpecia dosage as the drug wears off and they experience rapid thinning. My logic is like this 5% minox is more effective than 2% minox. I tend to be a bit slow but please enlighten me, its great having a scientist on the forum. Cheers Please follow this link to see the chart that proves that two Propecia daily is more effective than taking one: http://hair-restoration-info.c...=695101541#695101541
  9. Quote:"Dr. Pak was solicited by this site at one time but decided he was not going to pay the high monthly fees associated with being endorsed here" I agree with most of what thana said especially admirable is how this forum rejects and ejects Drs who are not performing. But I think that if a Dr is producing great results but is unwilling to pay the fees associated for recommendation that these doctors should be put on some list of merit or something. But it would make sense for the best doctors to naturally want to be a part of such a prestigious coalition of recommended surgeons who are judge on their results.
  10. If one doctor recommended 4000 it sounds like you should go with strip. I was under the impression that with tricho the scar would not really restrict styling unless one shaved right down. It would be interesting to hear who did imissthebarber's procedure.
  11. Yep I on minox as well but have been on it for over a year. I better go and see my doctor. Cheers
  12. Wait a minute I thought that research has show that taking two Propecia daily is more effective than taking one. So logically as Propecia blocks one enzyme that causes the breakdown of testosterone into DHT and Avodart blocks that one plus one other, it would be similar to taking two Propecia, but I would also have that extra enzyme covered. Further keeping on Propecia is also a smart move because Avodart has not been approved yet. My real worry is side effects from Avo.
  13. Thank you all for your replies it is very comforting that hear that it is doable, even if it may require more than one session. I would go for strip tomorrow if I was certain of being able to buzz down to #1 or #2 and that the scar would not stand out. I am hoping that if I went to the likes of H&W, SMG, Feller or Rahal for strip and then used my chest and a bit of beard hair for fue with he who can't be named or his sister as I live in Australia. Would this likely be achievable? It would be great to hear from others who have done similar to this.
  14. Einstein check out this link on Aromasin and hair loss http://breast-cancer.emedtv.co...n-and-hair-loss.html I was thinking about upping my meds gradually over three years so I end up taking one Propecia and one Avodart daily without an aromatase inhibitor, now I am not so sure I will do it. Cheers
  15. Looks great! At what density was the hair transplanted at? Cheers
  16. Will it go away? Because I think I have experienced facial bloating around my neck since taking avo. I haven't been eating more or exercising less. And I recently started doing neck exercises. But just yesterday a lady commented on how much weight I put on around the face. I really don't want to give up avo so I am hoping it's temporary. Cheers
  17. I was wondering if it would be possible to shave down to a #1 or #2 if one had fue into a strip scar without it being noticeable? Cheers
  18. I was wondering if anyone on Avodart has experienced facial bloating around the neck area? Cheers
  19. I have just received a private message from another forum member saying that his hair holds up well in harsh light normally, but it probably wouldn't if he put gel in it. This patient had a density of 70 grafts per cm2 and also said that it does look natural.
  20. Scalp does show on heaps of guys without mpb when they slick back their hair (though for some it doesn't). I was working tonight and saw pretty much straight through a dudes hair with this look, so I did a double take and realised it was this way all over his head and was natural with his thin hair. I think it matters the extent of scalp that is visible when slicked back so your pics are a great idea. If it was me I would only slick back the top leaving the sides and donor as they may be used for comparison when slicked back.
