  1. I have heard that if mioxidil is discontinued for 2 months or more all that it has gained is lost, but some clinics require patients to be off minox 2 months or more before their ht. So wouldn't everything minox had done be lost? Would they also require patients to go off oral minox before their procedure? Cheers
  2. I just wanted to get the thoughts of other forum members or on taking avodart, with 25 or 50 mg of oral spiro and 2.5 or 5mg of Loniten and a mild anti androgen to combat hair loss. Spiro is a diuretic needed when taking oral minox, while the mild anti-androgen would be used as a safeguard even though the dosage of spiro is rather low, though I am still worried about an increase in Testosterone, blood pressure and potential gyno. Drs thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  3. I have heard one doctor say that it is very effective for women but the gyno is a real worry for men.
  4. Thanks everybody for their replies. Any ideas for mild Estrogen blockers? Is Raloxifene any good? Cheers
  5. Is there anything that blocks the androgen receptors in the hair that can be taken orally that is mild and would not produce gyno? Would a very low dose of oral spiro do this?

    Fluridil

I just read that once a week is how often you're allowed to wet shampoo your hair if you want the fluridil to do its job. Can anybody confirm this? Has anyone at all had success with it?
  7. I was just wondering if other members have or are using fluridil and what their experience with it has been? Is there any research to support that it works? Also are there any possible negative effects on hair from it?
  8. Hi there I'm just hoping someone could enlighten me on the actions of these drugs as I'm just trying to figure out what each does to ensure I am on a good hair loss regime. From what I understand hair loss is caused by DHT and testosterone. Avodart lowers DHT but increases testosterone. Nizoral is a very weak DHT blocker, if at all, but does remove sebum. Minoxidil increases blood flow to the hair follicle Fluridil reduces the number of androgen receptors in the hair (is there any research to support this? Also are there any possible negative effects on hair from it?). Anybody able to elaborate? Cheers
  9. I just checked out your blog and was rather shocked to find out this was H&W work. The hairline placement did not look great in the post op picture. I think you always needed more than one procedure though at your Norwood stage. H&W are bellwethers of hair restoration who are known for consistently producing stellar results. Maybe they could offer you a discount on a second procedure to address the density and scar. I would use the 2k but leave the crown thin (I know you probably don't want to hear that) then go fue for the scar. I think Jotronic's response indicates the probity of this clinic.
  10. Generally the longer taken the better.
  11. In my opinion a density of 50 grafts per cm2 is not enough as the hair still looks like it is thinning under harsh light, at least 65 grafts per cm2 or over is needed to avoid this. Wind is right in that yield, angulation, hair caliber, colour and scalp contrast also play a significant role.
  12. I was wondering if anyone on this forum is taking oral spiro? Does it really stop hairloss and even regrow hair? Cheers
  13. Any idea where I could get it? Cheers
  14. Thanks Maxxy,I just sent him a personal message. Personally I think I could live with that scar, with his fair hair and fue into it I think it would be virtually invisible. Unfortunately my hair is a lot darker.
  15. I know of doctor who used leg hair to soften the hairline when scalp hair was still available.
  16. I wanted to hear from anyone about Spiro Cream 5%, does it really work?
  17. Thanks, I will follow your advice. I am now on exactly the same regime as you. Cheers
  18. I would like to hear from anybody here who has shaven right down after strip so their scar was visible. What were the reactions of people they met on the street? Do people automatically know if it was from a ht? Personally I don't mind scars, but if it was obviously from a cosmetic procedure I don't think I would feel this way. I know everyone will say just get fue but I'm concerned because of yield, the fact that only up to 3k is generally available, and because H&W don't offer it (I just love their work and they are probably at the top of my list).
  19. Bill I love your honesty man! Hey Baldie 42 have you ever thought about getting fue with the likes of Feller or SMG? It would avoid a lot of the associated risks. I too have a good head for the shaved look but hate the balding shadow and have been thinking lately about using fue to establish a hairline and give the appearance that I am not suffering from hair loss; it would allow one to shave their head without the stigma of baldness associated to them. What do you think? Cheers
  20. Forrest, I am also inclined to Feller or Shapiro. Hairhope, I agree this is the best strategy if one wants to wear their hair long. As you only did a small strip previously which would not have maxed out your strip supply, why did you go fue recently? Cheers
  21. At what density was your hair transplanted at?
  22. I still think strip is best it's just nice to know there is an alternative.
  23. There have been some amazing fue results posted lately and it got me wondering who people think is the best coalition Dr for fue? Also do you think they could be persuaded to use only fue to treat say a Norwood 5?
