  1. Thanks for the recs. I recently have been trying Olly men’s multi, it gets me to my vitamin C, Zinc, Biotin (already reach that though with another biotin supplement), B vitamins, and some others. I’ll look into those as well
  2. I don’t think I should be gaining any weight at this point, I’m over 200 at 5’9. I do have some muscle mass from years of lifting, albeit less consistently in the last year or so. I think a lot of people who associate hair loss with weight loss are generally referring to telogen effluvium, which is temporary (but I still don’t want that of course). I guess my main concern is just that I’ve allowed my scalp to heal enough at this point and a slightly higher caloric deficit won’t delay or hinder growth.
  3. So I’m a little over 3 months out from procedure, seem to have a nice amount of early growth but of course have a very long way to go. I’ve been having some discipline issues with my diet and really want to get back in shape. If I ate at around 1800 calories a day and ~150 grams of protein , I should lose about 1.6 pounds per week. Am i in the clear at this point or should i still be cautious with recovery from the procedure? also, I’m currently just taking a biotin supplement. Any good multivitamin recommendations that contain zinc, iron, and other vitamins/minerals to support hair health, while in a caloric deficit? The last thing I want to do is lose hair while losing weight but I’m probably well over 20% body fat at this point and would like to get back down to 12% or so.
  4. 3 Months Definitely coming in. Seems like my left temple is coming in a bit slower than the right, but I know that’s totally normal and not worried about that at all. Hoping to see a lot of growth and thickening in the next few months. this is fresh out of a shower with wet hair a couple days ago: These pics taken today after wearing a hat and hiking for several hours, basically when my hair looks it’s worst just right after taking off the hat:
  5. Yes definitely get an in person assessment even if you have to spend several hundred on flights etc you really need to know what exactly is going on and why this didn’t look like 3.8k grafts. Several hundred is a hell of a lot less than several thousand on a procedure that potentially isn’t planned correctly, in the future. That’s what I meant by the crown, that is a victory in and of itself even if it’s not at the final point you want, at least we know your body accepted the grafts well enough. with only potentially 2k grafts remaining, careful and methodical are two words that describe how your path needs to be. so try and get ideally multiple opinions, with your age and history I think you need to be extra cautious here and have definitive answers as to what is going on with your scalp.
  6. Op, imo you really need to be assessed under a microscope and only under a microscope, by a professional. Nobody here can tell exactly what happened just by looking at your pictures. I think it’s worth flying back to H&W or at least some top end surgeon for in-person evaluation. Maybe you did continue losing hair, maybe you didn’t, we can’t know for sure. it is a bit concerning how, according to you, Dr. Hasson described this as an “excellent” result, as I think we can all agree it is not. But I won’t read into that too much. You are very young and spent a ton of money on this, and have finite grafts, so I understand your worry for sure. But before rushing into scheduling another procedure, I think you need to know for sure what exactly is going on. Konior is unbelievably expensive and IIRC you don’t want FUT, but he does seem to get impressive results with relatively few grafts. There was a case recently here however where he very much underestimated the grafts required and the patient required a second surgery, nobody bats 100. Before scheduling an appointment at all, I think your scalp needs to be assessed thoroughly now that you are 1 year post op, just my 2 cents. if you are happy with your crown at this point though, that is definitely a good thing and I’m happy for you.
  7. I guess we are just getting into semantics at this point; yes that is clearly MPB, but when I think of “severe” I think, basically end of the road and can’t be concealed with fibers, like Melvin before his transformation (no offense of course, Melvin). I don’t blame you at all for wanting to fix that! I would’ve thought the meds would have tightened that up more but alas, not everyone responds to them the same. My one buddy responded to minoxidil quite well and has similar hair characteristics to you, I bet he would have gone with a HT had he not responded to Min as well. Thanks for sharing your journey
  8. Should be very interesting to see his final results, H&W seem to be among the absolute best for diffuse thinners. I myself am a diffuse thinner. I have curly hair which I think hides it a lot more than someone with straight hair. I don’t think id go for FUT at this point for personal reasons, but still very interested in the results.
  9. I’m not sure I would classify this as “severe” but to each their own. This is wet hair in what appears to be harsh lighting, on a 30 year old. Children coming out of a swimming pool can have some scalp show. But anyway, in person is really the only way to assess, and OP obviously wasn’t happy pre-surgery. I hope you get the results you are after, OP.
  10. Okay dude I need you to understand that is very NOT normal and you unfortunately have been exposed to evil. Frankly based on what you’re describing, these “people” deserve to get their a$$ beat. They were never your friends, and in a way you are lucky that this is what showed you that instead of down the line where you could have lost money or otherwise been screwed over. I usually don’t condone violence but assuming these were non-disabled males, you would have been in the right to beat the s**t out of them. Consider looking into a martial art, I think that can also increase your confidence. bald/balding guys may be the blunt of the joke sometimes but not what you’re describing and certainly not by friends.
  11. Try your best to focus on other stuff for the next month or two, easier said than done I know. I even visited this forum a bit less frequently just to try and get my mind off of it in the last month or so. Thanks for your service.
  12. Thanks man. Definitely been an emotional roller coaster so far, hoping the rollercoaster only goes up from this point on lol.
  13. 2.5 Months/11 weeks I was going to wait until 3 months to post an update but I do believe I have started to see some growth in the last couple weeks. Of course my hair has also just gotten slightly longer but I do see some stubble poking through, the recipient area appears overall darker. Being that I work remotely, I feel it’s now a lot easier to look somewhat presentable on camera during meetings, especially if I dim the light. As a diffuse thinner it can be a bit hard to determine what is actually new growth vs what is just my native hair getting longer but I think we’re going in the right direction. Still have a long way to go of course, but glad the ugly duckling phase seems to be coming to an end.
  14. That new hairline design is going to make you look 10 years younger minimum, huge difference. Happy growing
  15. Thanks all… I think my anxiety got a bit worse when I read someone got like a perm or something within the year and said it could’ve harmed their HT, so my mind starting going off and thinking I wonder if there are other things that can harm a HT. im a hat guy anyway and 2 months is ugly duckling phase, and I’m very fair skinned so I should be wearing a hat outside regardless when it’s sunny.
  16. So my anxiety has kind of been running rampant and I’m taking all these precautions 2 months post HT because im just so paranoid and really really want a good result…. I know grafts are permanent within a couple weeks, but of course sun can still damage them up to 6 months post surgery according to some clinics, including my clinic. I won’t step outside without a hat, but I’ve also been so worried about anything that can even have the slightest possibility of irritating my scalp…. I won’t even let my dog touch my pillow for example. I get worried if something comes in contact with one of my hats or pillows and it touches my scalp, I feel like I’m kinda going crazy. Can I take a chill pill and just wear a hat outside, or is my paranoia justified at all? Is it verified that NOTHING can damage grafts this long after surgery besides sunburn? Thank you.
  17. 2 Months hoping the fun is about to start. I do see a handful of little 1-2mm hairs, not entirely sure if these are transplanted hairs starting to come in or not. Hopefully something more exciting to report next month.
  18. I read his comment the same way you did at first as in he was implying hair on any man won’t affect their life/dating, but then I reread it within the context and I believe he is specifically talking about OP’s hair, as in it’s not that bad currently. Not just any balding/bald man in general. i think we all know here how important hair is for younger men and how balding can destroy a young man’s self esteem. I mean when you see superstars who are in their 30s, and 40s even and beyond like Francis Ngannou, Lebron, Connor Mcgregor, David Beckham, many many others etc who have all the money fame and anything you could want, STILL not accept hair loss and combat it, that tells you everything you need to know.
  19. I think your hair is looking better! I’m looking back to your pre op photos and even photos from a month ago and I’m seeing a noticeable difference. I know you mentioned the lighting which of course has an effect, and at the end of the day it only matters if it looks better to YOU, but from an outside perspective it looks like a big improvement from these pics. You also seem to have dark hair with light skin, which gives a stronger contrast, so any of the thinner parts anywhere on your head may stick out to you more than they would if you were dark skin + dark hair for example. I feel like If some of those hairs in the frontal third can just thicken up a little bit in the next couple months you’ll have a good result, and I see 0% of your crown in the aerial view pic, I know your hair is slicked back but still, that has to count for something.
  20. This thread is a good example of how the Norwood scale isn’t really an exact science. I’d say around NW2, I’m not seeing a NW3 or a NW1. His hairline looks very age appropriate and I don’t think his looks would benefit from a lower hairline. I would call that conservative but good if you were trying to replicate that in a procedure. Some doctors are too conservative imo to where it still appears like you’re receding, others who are considered conservative can make you look like you still have an age appropriate hairline.
  21. Yep. I’m about to be 28. When I buzzed my hair at 24 I could see the NW6 pattern. At 25 my thinning progressed and you could start to see the NW6 pattern even when hair was a few inches in bright light, then I got on fin/min which reversed a lot of the thinning to the point that nobody IRL would notice my crown or mid-scalp, just the frontal third, which is why I got a HT only focusing on that plus a little into the frontal midscalp. A buzz cut on a man with no hair loss and no detectable pattern must be the ultimate hair flex lol.
  22. After the first few nights, I transitioned to my side while using the neck pillow propped up on a couple regular pillows. I’m a side sleeper and cannot really sleep well at all on my back. My clinic said this was fine, and I’m sure I did not have anything touch the recipient area (pretty hard to so long as you are wearing the neck pillow). It probably isn’t great for your neck to do this, but it allowed me to get some sleep and I didn’t hurt my neck so it worked out fine.
  23. GL man. Looks like your scalp redness really went down from day 44 to day 60.
  24. The more I’ve looked into this the more I’ve come to learn the answer is “no one really knows”. Genetics are very complicated and there is a ton of misinformation everywhere regarding MBP. A common misbelief is it only comes from the mothers side, for example. There are plenty of examples of men who lost a lot of hair at 40-50-60+. There are also examples of men who had high hairlines quite young but they progressed very, very slowly and kept most of their hair until old age (Marlon Brando and Paul Newman come to mind). And we know guys like that wouldn’t have been on medication due to it not being around at the time. Preventive treatment is pretty much necessary in all HT cases unless you want to roll the dice.
