  1. Comes across as really smart and ethical from my consultation. Pointed out some things I didn't even know about. I believe he has FUT prices on his website and I think you need to reach out for FUE prices.
  2. I don't think HLC is on the recommended list, but the other two are. I'd definitely go with Dr Turan or Dr Gur.
  3. Dr Timothy Carmen impressed me in his consultation, the only issue is his patients don't post online reviews so it's hard to get a current idea of his work
  4. I'm thinking for each extra grafts, you're doing more damage to both the donor area, and then again the recipient area. During my last surgery I preferred to have less grafts done and more conservative hairline, and then build it up later, so that I can focus all of my healing on the few grafts and smaller FUT incision, and thus increasing the chance of graft survivability. Also, the surgeon and the team can put more focus on a fewer number of grafts. However, I never see any recommendations for doing smaller batch sessions instead of one big mega session. Thoughts?
  5. Yeah, I eventually want to do a larger scale BHT procedure in the future. At the moment, I don't think my mid scalp nor edge of the vertex has enough loss to warrant BHT though I would be open to it if doctor feels is best. I also haven't done a FUE yet so I don't have FUE sites. Right now it's just looking like a few hundred for 3 FUT scars.
  6. I had my latest surgery by one of the best in the world (Dr Shapiro + Dr Josephitis) , and would prefer to stay with them since they are one of the best, and them and their staff are familiar with my physiology. However, I don't think they specialize in beard transplants since their website doesn't list that. What would you do in my situation? At the moment it's just beard grafts into FUT scars, not into the midscalp or anything like that. Would it still be best to go to one of the best in the world for BHT like Dr Bisanga? Or would someone else best in the world who you're a past patient of be better, even if the team doesn't appear to focus on BHT?
  7. haha my guess is Couto. What did you like better about Cuoto than you did about Ferreira? And why do you rank Freitas over Couto?
  8. That's funny because in my initial review I thought that Dr Shapiro has more youthful looking hairlines from the initial reviews I looked at. I thought I had to convince him to go more conservative but when I got to him in person and told him that I am off finasteride so there's a possibility that I'll lose my whole top, he came up with a hairline that was even more conservative than I was thinking of, but I went for it because I could always build it up later. If Dr Shapiro comes up with a hairline, I would go for it because he's taking into account the long term. Dr Josephitis did the extractions for my punchouts, I got the best result possible , no noticeable difference. I ranked Shapiro #1 for my case because he came across as a person who has spent a ton of time researching, pioneering, and learning from others. I was a complicated case due to several questionable techniques used in my first hair transplant surgery. I needed a doctor who was the most 'seen it all' person, and I ranked Dr Shapiro #1 in that category. My impression was confirmed at the surgery since I could tell he was considering a lot and the wheels were always turning. His curiosity and learning was also confirmed, as he was curious about many aspects of my first surgery, including how the FUT scar was closed and how they did the numbing. They also did stuff that I don't think they charged me for like the graft relocation and scar revision. They just seemed to focus on fixing everything done wrong in my first procedure. Now that I have learned that grafts can be extracted without visible scaring, I plan to go more youthful since I have a ton of beard grafts in the bank. Also, my crown doesn't seem to be losing even though I've been off Fin for nearly 4 months, which is also encouraging but too soon. I'm not a complicated case anymore but I hope to pick Dr Shapiro again for my buildup procedure because of the great experience the first time, but I don't see Beard grafts transplant listed on his website, but I hope he's open to it.
  9. Did they ever figure out why the combo yields more? I'm thinking with FUT you get the more grafts from the most desirable region, and since the skin is removed and the rest is put back together, you don't notice the removed hair except for the FUT scar. But FUT decreases scalp laxity, and so there's limits on what you can get with FUT, and that's when you do FUE. I wonder if FUT first decreases transection rate of FUE. FUT stretches out your skin, making the hair follicles stretch further out from each other.
  10. I have a really fast and dense beard, that I am not into. If I could I would have donated it lol. Then I found out that they could be used in hair transplants but then I had a 2nd curse in that I scar really easily (or so I thought) and I didn't want a bunch of polka dot marks on my face. So now I am sitting on this vast resource, that I can't use. But in my last repair the punchout site looks exactly like my normal skin, within 8-10 days of the procedure. With scarless-ish FUT now I able use this giant reserve of beard grafts, and have the double benefit of shaving being less a pain in the ass. I'd like to use them as soon as possible, and I am really into the idea of donor restocking / fit farming. Around how many months after a procedure can you start thinking about putting grafts into the FUT area?
  11. Hassan/Wong is 1-3 months now? I thought it was a year. I also saw Bisanga is only 4 months now. And I think Konior is 2 years out. Did the covid backlog finish through now or something? How many grafts? For large sessions I think hw is the best, but my preference would be for Konior.
  12. Details? There was one one summer but I couldn't make it. I already had a procedure, but I am looking to do a beard to FUT scar transplant, which I heard he's one of the bet at.
  13. I am very surprised, why is his sooner compared to other top people? I believe Dr Nadimi has shorter times, 1-4 months.
  14. Yup, maybe it was just for repair patients then because he cited that virgin scalp is different from one that has already had work done on it. I edited my comment.
  15. The issue with Bisanga is that usually you need an in-person consult. He does come to the USA occasionally to do consults though. Edit: Actually it may be for repair or patients who have had previous work.
  16. There was a podcast Melvin did with him on the hair restoration network channel
  17. Dr Bisanga said he stopped taking fin and only does 5mg min a day.
  18. Eugenix is expensive? How much do they cost? I remember Hassan and Wong give discounts to number of grafts over 2k.
  19. A recent amazing realization I just had is that I could probably do a beard transplant. I have a really fast and dense beard, that I'm not really into. In my early 20s I used to shave it 2x a day, then got too lazy. So I may be a really good beard transplant candidate. The only issue is that I thought I scarred really easily, and if I'm clean shaved, it might show up. So, it was kinda frustrating to have something on my face that I'm not into and not able to relocate. But, with the results of the FUE, now it's like having maybe 2000-3000 extra grafts in my pocket. My temple skin is more delicate than my jaw skin, so I guess a lot could be taken out without scarring. In my next procedure, I'm gonna see what's possible with filling in my fut scars with them and see what the healing and yield is is like. If it's good, I may go nuts for a more youthful density and hairline.
  20. Amazing result! Did all 1500-ish beard grafts went straight to your crown? Was it only beard grafts into the crown, or were some of them from the scalp donor area too? They said that they could take another 1500 from the beard, are you going to do it?
  21. Another update, I realize there are some times when the skin of the punchout area looks different from the rest, like when I'm out of the shower. But it doesn't seem to correlate to where the punchout holes were. I am realizing that it may be from the first surgery, and may be due to the particular technique used. I couldn't see what was happening for both, but it felt like Dr Shapiro did each of the incisions individually. My procedure with Dr Diep was a long time ago and again, I'm only going by what I felt so I'm not sure if my interpretations are correct, but it felt like he was using a tool with multiple points on it to create many incisions at the same time. Another thing was during the debrief, Dr Shapiro said that rubbing with friction could dislodge the grafts. It seemed that with Dr Shapiro the grafts were more secured than with Dr Diep because at the end of the procedure with Dr Diep I dropped something and when I picked it, suddenly him and the two techs got startled and told me not to do that or it could mess up the grafts. So I feel like there were definitely differences in the techniques used.
