  1. Great review, I also had a procedure back in Aug with SMG for a repair and Dr Josephitis did the punchouts . Matt Zupan is awesome, by the time I had my procedure, we had spoken to be for a few hours over the phone over the course of the year, mostly with info, and I didn't book till like a year later. I'm about to post my 4 month update, so far results look solid. I'll probably return to implant in some of punchout area and finish off my hairline.
  2. There is one case where it seemed like this is what happened. RTC is being honest when he said there was a 2nd patient, he said it in his initial review when he was very optimistic about the procedure. RTC, I noticed you have a great beard. Perhaps donor restocking can allow to draw more from the donor?
  3. My review was pretty similar to yours. I also had a weird Dr Diep history though mines is more involved. Matt Zupan is amazing, by the time of my procedure I had been talking to him for a at least a couple hours, for free, he also arranged fin prescriptions for me. Dr Shapiro impressed me most than anyone else and in person lived up to the hype. As scientists/researcher I always look for curiosity as an indicator, and he definitely had it. I too am considering building up from my base.
  4. ohhh, any idea when it might be in the us? Is the dose/frequency much lower compared to their fin? Too early to tell. It's also apples and oranges because the topical dut is put on much less frequently, and with much less formula. I am trying to microdose with it, which requires a very small amount of the liquid formula. So I am also only using it in my crown, vs with topical fin I could keep spreading it throwout the loss area. So far nothing significant. One day I put liposomal min on my crown and the next day I felt what might be very very mild ball ache, not as bad as the topical fin ball aches but I think I felt the sensation. I thought liposoomal min might be ok cuz I thought the liposomes are only attatched to the min, so it wouldn't cause the dut to seep through, there is no alcohol or pg in the liposomal fin but I was wrong I guess. I am waiting until I feel 101% back to normal before putting in the next dose on the crown. I wonder if ball ache is indicative to more effectiveness with fin or dut and so you need a much lower amount. But over the 2 years I tried various formulas didn't get much regrowth, though maybe it maintained it better. It might be worth asking Dr Hassan if they are able to attach a heavy molecule to fin so it acts more like topical dut regarding absorbtion
  5. Where did you get yours from? I did the Mwamba forumla.
  6. "I will say, with a newborn at home with colic, the aforementioned issues have been affected by sleep deprivation". oh man, I would definitely not use it with a kid or baby around. Probably worried about nothing, but you see case studies where geographical area xyz has higher incidences of abc. If I were to do it with a kid around, I'd probably only do it in the morning, so that there isn't a chance to spread elsewhere via pillow. I'd also buy those disposable food service gloves, they're like 500 for 10 bucks or something. I don't have a kid, but that's actually what I did just so it doesn't get on my hands. I then put the gloves in zip lock back before throwing it away. Another thing, watch out for the ball aches / any mild soreness. It's always been a precursor for more serious effects. If I would do it over again I would just back off after the first instance of ball ache. When I mentioned that topical fin didn't work, Dr Shapiro suggested looking into topical dut. The reason being it's a way higher weight, so might not penetrate the scalp. With that in mind, it might be worth for scientists to look into attaching finasteride to something heavier.
  7. Any other clinic using this? How much does this cost? I wonder if I pay for the time /labor, they'll try it, knowing that it may not make a different at all.
  8. I've talked to this person on reddit, he is very helpful and insightful and we bonded over both having procedures with him that we weren't satisfied with. He helps alotta people out both in comments and over pm. He might be having a repair soon but he is keeping the repair doctor underwraps. I am curious about who he picked. He is Lopsided_Pair5727
  9. Shapiro Medical does this, one of the many reasons I went with them. I am not aware of anyone else who does this https://shapiromedical.com/about/meet-the-staff/
  10. At my last procedure, sometimes nobody was talking, sometimes it was just casual bantar here and there.
  11. Although I am confused by Dr Diep being on the list, Melvin been great for me. He hooked me up with a free consultation with Dr Mwamba, and offered to speak to Dr Diep directly about my issues getting my medical pictures. I also I must apologize to @baldlivesmatter , Melvin was being nice when he said the community pressured him, it wasn't the community it was just me. I think I put my own biases upon him and I didn't realize what I was doing until Melvin pointed it out. I didn't read the entire drama and can't comment on it, all I can do is speak from my own experiences, and as a person who had a procedure with Dr Diep in 2010, there were many things that did not seem right about him. I voted yes. You can read my post history for more details. But a quick summary off the top of my head, -He played grafts lower than what we agreed upon at the end. -The yield, angles, placement, and graft selection was not good. He took grafts too high -I don't know what the final yield was, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was like 300-400 out of the 1360 grafts implanted. This is judging from the 200 that was removed from my corners. The rest were implanted into the middle but I never noticed an increase in density there. -Like many other people, my scar is too wide. -Dr Diep's technique was criticized by most of the doctors on the official list, including live in instagram with Dr Mwamba. One doctor who is elite coalition status had been troubled by Dr Diep for quite some time, had much to say about him, seemed to had repaired a number of his patients, and is very concerned about his associations with certain organizations. I would be happy to provide his name to @Melvin- Moderator if he would like to reach out. -About 200 of my grafts had to be removed and placed behind further back. -I believe he used a tool that had multiple points on it to create several incisions sites at one time. At the time I thought it was neat time efficient technique. Now I know this is not normal . -I've been trying to get my pictures from him for over a year so I know exactly where grafts were planted, so my future hair transplants can be planned out. They stopped responding to my follow ups. Dr Gabel said that this was illegal. -Morning of my procedure he presented me with a new contract. He said that if my strip resulted in more grafts than agreed upon, I can pay to have those implanted. I thought this meant he would throw them away if I didn't pay for them. Ended up with 360 extra grafts, and also grafts lower than I wanted. I wonder if he did that on purpose. I had to have grafts removed from that area. -The techs did seem inexperienced. They looked very young. Morning of my procedure when they were washing my hair I passed out because the angle at which they placed my head caused me to lose circulation to my head. -The anesthesia step was not anywhere as detailed as at Dr Shapiro. With Dr Diep, my head was numb for about a year post op, which is normal, but with Dr Shapiro, 3.5 months out and I have regained 90-95% percent of the feeling.
  12. Some of my posts and comments are in that thread. I had my procedure in 2010 and can confirm some of the practices mentioned in that thread including using brand new techs, and a multi-ended tool to create several incisions at once. I had reached out to several doctors on the list and many of them criticized the yield, angles, selection, placement, wide scar, including Dr Mwamba who criticized it on Melvin's live instagram chat. You can see my post history and repair journey for more details. I also provided that mod with the name of the doctor on the official list of recommended surgeons who was very concerned about Dr Diep, and if @Melvin- Moderator is interested I would be more than happy provide the name of the doctor to him too in a private message so that he can reach out to him .
  13. What was the collaborative effort like? I noticed some like to dense pack in the front, which I think gives a better illusion of density, and then more even out with a few stranglers in the front, which I think is more how hairs are natural distributed. I prefer the former, and that's what I got when I went to SMG, but it looks like yours is more towards the latter.
  14. I don't think it's a telltale sign, but I don't think it's quiet yet a ballpark result. I think the kinkyness of the hair contributes to a slight non-softness to the hairline, which like OP said could straighten out in the next months. Some of the front hairs do seem thicker, but I'm comparing to the post op pictures, and it seems perfect to me, the finer hairs are in front, and the thicker hairs are in the back. I am wonder if OPs donors hairs have gotten thicker with medication. I've been on oral minoxidil for a few months, and while it seems to help on the top, what I didn't except is the strengthening of my donor hair. Actually all over the body, including eye brows. What may have happened is hair that were finer at the time thickened up due to medication. If so, it's a very good problem to have. OP can use it as a base for a future transplant, and hopefully by now his donor has finished thickening. I'm looking again and wondering if that's what happened. The spacing out works for finer hairs in the front because that's what most people have. And it definitely looks finner post OP and the first weeks/months after that. I'm not sure if it's possible to have the super super fine/ super soft hairs in your original hairline for a transplanted hairline, I never seen something like that. So I think comparing to the original hairline has limits. I'm comparing post OP and now pictures again. It's really hard for me to tell, but you may want to look into if the finer hairs that were original transplanted thickened up. And if so, it's a pretty fun problem to have because that means you could be a bit more aggressive in your hairline.
  15. I've been trying to get my surgical photos from Dr Diep for over a year. Every time I would follow up, they would say they are still working on it. Recently they started ignoring my follow ups. I have been informed in my consultations that those photos would be helpful in my lifetime planning, since we can look at where exactly they tried to implanted grafts previously. I had tried before and given up, until my consultation with Dr Gabel. He informed me that those photos are a part of my medical record, and that I am legally entitled to them, and if they refuse, there are some legal options that could be painful for them. I am now looking to consider whatever options, any help, or directions to look at would be helpful. My guess is a lawyer who specializes in cometic surgery. Any advice or directions to look in would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Looks pretty clean, no sign of scarring.
  17. Yeah, if Dr Nadimi says it's a repair case, that pretty much seals it. Of the younger doctors, she has probably the best training along with Dr Josephitis at Shapiro Medical. Is the edit button still available on your opening post? Clicking it will also open up the title edit. After a while the edit button disappears and then @Melvin- Moderator would need to change it for you.
  18. May we can a close up of where they were extracted? I am interesting in seeing how the healing is like. How long did she take for each graft? Transplanted FUE is different from normal ones because they may grow in different angles. Sometimes each can take a lot of time.
  19. Yeah, I think if someone who is not familiar with hair transplants can definitely tell if it's a hair transplant, then it needs a repair. Maybe there's some instances where the patient chooses this to gain more coverage or something like that, but in this case it was just subpar technique and subpar overall surgical workflow, which is something I also directly experienced with Dr Diep.
  20. What did she say about the punchouts vs leaving them in? I actually also had a consult with Dr Nadimi when considering my next surgeon. Though I didn't get a ton of critique of Dr Diep's technique like I got with the other surgeons I went to. I've been meaning to write a review of Dr Diep. I've been trying to get my pictures from them over a year now. I gave up for a while until Dr Gabel informed me that those are a part of my medical record, and that I am legally entitled to them. I started following up again for months, they keep saying 'We're trying to find them' until they stop responding to my followups. I will be asking the forum soon on guidance for legal options. I saw your thread with Dr Diep. I don't think you were given the best advice from the community in my honest opinion. I think they were just trying to cheer you up on a obviously problematic result, or didn't have the skill to observe it. I think if you had gotten feedback from other hair transplant surgeons, you would have got a higher level of detail and honesty. What did Dr Nadimi say about your first procedure? I didn't get much from Dr Nadimi, but I did from others, some of which expressed deep concern about this doctor's practices in general. One paradigm I learned on reddit is that if say you were a famous person, and someone said you had a transplant, would everyone just believe it right away, or would people have a debate? I think from your 5th picture, it would be the former. I would say your procedure is a repair case, and it may be helpful to others if you titled it that way. I was really interested in Dr Nadimi, so much so that I paid the 200$ consultation. Out of all the doctors on my shortlist, I liked her hairlines the best out of available results. But ultimately, I didn't see any repair cases from her, and so I crossed her off my short list. I think your review will be a demonstration in an area we haven't seen yet based on available Dr Nadimi reviews. I think there would be others who may be in a similar situation as us, and search 'Nadimi repair' or 'diep repair' and not find anything for Dr Nadimi doing a repair, and may not look into this review, when it has potent information on Dr Nadimi's skills as a repair surgeon. In my review I specifically put the words Dr Shapiro, Repair, and Dr Diep in the title for this reason.
  21. I see you had your other procedure done with Dr Diep, as did I. From your 5th picture, it seems that Dr Diep used the same graft selection for the front as in my procedure, taking grafts too far high which tend to be blunter, they should be used for the mid/back. I looked at your review of Dr Diep, and that indeed seems to be the case. This isn't my conclusion, but that given to me from the consultations of the best hair transplant doctors in the world according to the coalition, including the one I ended up with in Dr Shapiro. I also saw that you were considering using beard grafts to replenish your donor. I am in the same situation, except I have a wide FUT scar from my first procedure with Dr Diep that would need to be filled in.
  22. As a patient of Dr Shapiro, I strongly recommend him. Check my post history for reviews.
  23. For a few consultations, a few hair transplant doctors said they could prescribe it.
  24. It stopped because I eventually god side effects. Surprisingly, the Farmacia Parati formula lasted a little bit longer though I eventually got side effects from that, but it's much cheaper than Xyon. It's the one Dr Shapiro recommends, and to me Dr Shapiro seems like the most knowledgable hair transplant doctor out there.
