What an incredible journey I’ve been on, from being a bald 28 year old, desperate to have just “some hair” to now a 35 year old, greedy for more! I post this as a reminder, and let it be a reminder to all of us, we always want more, hair, money, etc.

But how often do we sit back and see how far we’ve come? Now is my hair perfect? Hell no! But I’m 100x better off than I was in my late 20’s. Do I wish I had more hair in the crown, a lower hairline, better temple points? Yea, but I’m also happy with myself and my results.

Left picture I was 28 just had surgery, right picture taken now (35), out of a shower no concealer at all. I keep wrestling with the idea of getting more, and more, but this is a nice reminder of how far I’ve come. Lots of love to this forum and community. I would’ve never made it this far without it.

    Melvin,

Incredible change! And you still have for sure at least one more procedure to go for... I would bet that with 1500-1800 and that oral minox and finas to maintain, and you are done... even though as you say, you then will WANT MORE AND MORE 😀 ... we always want more of everything, money, hair, love... but I believe HAPPINESS is the final destination that we should look for, and I see that you are really happy!

Many thanks for all your info and sharing your journey, it´s surely an inspiration for us looking to someday jump into the HT adventure! I´m still looking at my options to find the best doctor ha ha... but my reduced current budget might postpone my complete Happyness for a good while 😒 ... However, loving to see all the stories here in the Forum!

Thanks again and congrats on your amazing transformation!

    Oh yeah, what a change!

Now if you end up using 3000 for your crown, bye bye alopecia 😀

hello guys. I have recently discovered this forum ( a bit late ), but I wanted to become a member and post my experience with DAMN hair loss and my painful path to conceal it so far....

To cut the long story short, I started losing my hair very young at age of 18, and you can imagine how it affected my self esteem, and my self awarness regarding my looks. This is something I dont wish anyone to experience, especially at so young age as I did. so, then I started researching and I wanted to to then  a hair transplant, but that was all then in some beggining stage here where I live and no one did it, but we could hear that someone in some countries is doing some procedures called  hair transplants... so I started contacting doctors and they all refused to do hair transplant because I was too young (bear in mind I was arround 22 years of age at the time)...my dad lost his hair at top crown when he was 24 but he was never bothered with it, so I guess it is just genetics.

So I did what all of us do best: started wearing a hat, omg it is so painful even tho hat really looks good on me... wherever I went, whetever I was doing, working, going on a dates, clubbing, even swimming I wore a hat...basically I almost slept with it...people tried to convice me i look good "bald", but I really havent shared their opinion. I never had problems with women, but it really held me back and my confidence dropped below point zero.. Then, I discovered a hair fibers, was making good job of hiding my baldness for pictures but live i presume people could tell but didnt want to tell me the truth...

so, I made a worst mistake in my life so far, went to a tatoo artist to do a "smp" , I have even researched everything about needles, colours, process and pointed it out all to him but he made my head look like a I have almost painted my scalp...he even made lines so obvious in the back that it is so much bothering me that i cant believe what he has done to me, even after all instructions I gave him regarding the process...and to make things worse, I let him tattoo my face to fill my patchy beard (yeah you read right, I tattoed my beard)...I went into huge depression after that, I was always hiding my face, putting on a make up (felt like a woman at times), and really I couldnt enjoy normal life anymore ( I ride motorcycles and was a race car driver,  person who loves long walks with his dog, travel)...I lost interest in everything...so I even went to see a psychiatrist, started taking anti depressants, felt really ill this year....

and in whole this s*it with COVID 19, I have decided that it is a time to start looking into hair transplant again. I found few clinics in Istanbul (over middle mans, instagram) and decided to go to one clinic (I wont mention names until I see results), got a transfer from airport to hotel, had a day off to see city (which is great btw)... second day, I went to clinic, they took my blood sample (to test me on covi, hiv and I dont know what else because I never got results in hand just "everyrhing is fine"), and after standard questions regarding my health and am I allergic to something, procedure started....I was given so many injections in my head, I think over 25 stabs at least, but after 4th I didnt feel anything....after they extracted my follicles, it was lunch time, everything was going fine just i felt alot numbness...they measured my blood pressure few times and all the time I was attached onto pain killers and something what I suppose it was against infecfions...the whole procedure lasted arround 12 hrs, I knew my parents were worried and I just prayed everything will be over soon so I can call them and because my back started to hurt a lot...anyway, for 2 days I was walking the streets of Istanbul because i couldnt sleep at all, maybe just a little bit because I havent used to be sleeping in upright position...2nd day after procedure, I had my first wash of head and beard, I got all the medications which I drank until now, and shampoo ajd foam, as well as some spray and some tablets that I need to start using 1 month after procedure.

When I was at the airport, I had my head and my forehead swollen so much I looked like a mangled up heavy weight boxer. that went away, but now 11 days after my procedure, I still have pain in my head and neck especially after sleep and I am drinking painkillers, this is something that worries me a lot. and yeah, Melvin responded to me on youtube, i am massaging my donor area and putting aloe vera gel. But i dont have burning sensation pain, I have a strong pain that feels like someone is pulling out my hair and also parts of my head are still feeling numb or like I dont have any feeling(I read alot about nerve damage), and also have numbness and pain in my neck....

Now, I decided to post this story and to post photos and I will be posting them regulary. i am just glad that I have found this community through Melvins posts on youtube.

now I am on the 11th day from my procedure, and today I experienced biggest hair shedding until transplant.

and yeah, I forgot to mention, they told me they could extract only 3750 grafts, and they only did my hairline up to the half of head...and injected PRP...I wonder, if my hair really grows in a few months time, how would I look with half head of hair and half without...I may start some new trend in hairstyles...anyway, I really feel like I am cursed, and that whatever I do I cant get my hair back....and the funniest thing was that people actually stopped me in hotel and street to ask about my transplant and how it "looks great", that I have that "black men hairline" but they dont know that underneath is a poor try of smp and a real tattoo that made my life miserable...

anyway, here are the photos, first one is from the night after I finished transplant....sorry if the last ones (from today) of shedding are gross  but I need info if that is graft that fell out, I guess nit because i really am careful and follow all post transplant instructions, but I am not sure and I know you guys have more experience than me with this stuff, photos of donor area are I think after 6 or 7 days (people from clinic asked for them because I am complainijg about "unusual pain" - unusual after 25+ times injections into the area?! hmm ok...)

...if you have some comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to post them...

thanx, and God bless you all.

    7th MONTH UPDATE

Hi All. Didn't update for 6th month progress as nothing much changed from 5th to 7th month. As stated before, HT is just an illusion and 5000-6000 grafts cannot compensate lacs of hairs that have already lost.1st  Sending you pics of my wet head then secondly posting you pics of my dry head( and looks drastically changed) and finally some pics(last three) with dash of cabooki where looks are almost perfect.

    Hope to see an update!

  6. Hair Clinics - YouTube Channels
So I see some say that having a YouTube channel is just a marketing vehicle to get patients? Da!!! And, what is posting results in this or other Forums? It is completely the same. Marketing.

Whatever we do in our lives in order that others, family, friends, coworkers can see and appreciate, that is Marketing! When we drive our BMW or Mercedes or Ford, we are Marketing ourselves having this status or the other ... nowadays, ALL is marketing because we are social beings and more than ever, we like to be appreciated, either at work or playing football with your friends on a Sunday morning... who doesnt want to be noticed?

Now, how is it possible that nowadays, in this DIGITAL ERA, many hair clinics are NOT posting their video results on YouTube. I have been wondering about this for a long time and know that you have raised this marketing topic I wanted to share with you...

We have some doctors with the BEST results of the moment like Freitas, H&W, Couto, Eugenix, Lorenzo who are indeed uploading videos regularly... Why other clinics/doctors, do not publish videos of their results? Wouldnt you love to have a lot more results on video?

And again, I wonder... Hair Clinics not publish their results on YouTube ... could it be that those videos might "expose" their results too much and with therefore some clinics might lose some of their "status"? They could just use the concealer and, voila, perfect results!!! Let´s be seriuos. We all know, it´s not as easy to hide a "not so good hair transplant result" captured on video as it is on photos... Before-After photos are a lot easier to manipulate...

I have done a quick RESEARCH for Hair Transplant Clinic´s YouTube channels and FUExpert Clinic, led by Dr Juan Couto, is on way on TOP ... and the comparison with the rest, except from Freitas and Eugenix, it´s quite huge in terms of "FANS":

    - Top 3 HAIR CLINICS YouTube Channels -

Dr Couto has 77 videos and 54.100 followers
Dr Freitas has 76 videos and 47.300 followers
Eugenix Clinic has 435 videos and 22.200 followers

    - Rest of Hair Clinics -

Dr Lorenzo has 877 videos and 13.900 followers
Dr Feller has 245 videos and 3.040 followers
Dr Lupanzula has 191 videos and 1.800 followers

Hasson & Wong has 218 videos and 1.800 followers
Dr Rahal has 74 videos and 1.200 followers
Dr Bernstein has 62 videos and 1190 followers
Hattingen Hair Clinic has 198 videos and 784 followers
Dr Arocha has 82 videos and 648 followers
Dr Bisanga has 112 videos and 328 followers
Dr Bruno Pinto has 20 videos and 453 followers
Dr Konior has 15 videos and 14 followers

    Questions:
    1. How could there be such a difference in followers from Couto and Freitas in comparison with the rest of the Hair Clinics?

    2. How come some doctors are not uploading their cases on YouTube being videos the BEST option to show the true NATURALNESS of hair transplant results?

    3. Could Hair Clinics be avoiding posting videos on YouTube and Instagram cause it might jeopardize their status?

    * Extra: Have you noticed Lorenzo 800 videos !!! That number is INSANE!

Well, I just wanted to share my thoughts with you and see what you might think...
Hope all of you are safe!
    Best!

LOL. I, nor anyone in the video mentioned any brand name-dropping, Nor is it my YouTube channel. I, personally can attest to positive results from this type of added routine, and my early results were around 3 months, even made a separate thread of my microneedling progress months ago.

This is really interesting! Already gone and check some videos on YouTube and it seems it´s a great way to estimulate hair growth... combining this with Minox (you should do it at least 24h after) could get nice results!

    Thanks for sharing your experience!

  8. Hello Sambo,

How are you doing? What are your feelings about this result? What does your family or friends tell you about it? Have they noticed?

In my humble opinion, with 3500 for that frontal area and talking about Hasson, I was hoping for a little bit more... I guess, for what you are saying, that´s your same impression right?

A touchup? I would say yes although it´s not essential. I mean, as you are saying, now you can just enjoy that new look which is great but ... now you want more for sure!

Just wait a few months, let that new hair sit and let´s see when u see yourself in the mirror in the 15 month time... then decide on the possible touchup.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, it really helps 😉

Hi all.  I wanted to wait until the 6 month spot to update again.   We're not quite there yet (a couple more days), but I thought I'd do it before I forgot.

    So....

No numbness.  My head and everything feels perfectly fine.  It was never a thing that really bothered me and I felt silly mentioning it actually.  But wanted to report it anyway.

I haven't been using Rogaine.  Just simply forget to put it on.

I'm taking about 2+ Propecia a week.  I take it with my morning vitamins and such and try to do it every other day.  But it probably is more like Monday, Thursday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, etc...  I just forget.  I'd say 5 pills every 14 days or so.  This has really been the only negative part of the whole thing.  I can tell a difference with it in my system, even at this small dosage.

Anyway, below are 2 sets of images.  First is from the front.  6 months on left, 3 months in middle and pre op on right.  I have put a small red circle on the images to show where a little mole I have is to give an idea.  These are just out of the shower, no product in or styling done.

2nd image is the same, just from the top.

Let me know of any questions you may have.  I don't plan on doing another one of these until the 9 month mark unless asked for a specific reason.  I will add, if you buy Caboki, it's completely worth it, especially those 4-6 month stages.  Buy a couple sample colors to see which one is best and this stuff really works wonders.

Cant wait for the final result which I´m sure it´s gonna be a home run 😊

One big caveat with Couto is that all the patient reviews and cases on his YT are on men low on the NW Scale requiring low grafts - in other words, simple cases. Never saw him working on a slick bald dude or on a complex case.

So he is very good in a very specific niche but outside of it he is unproven. And that's where Konior edges him out and should be ranked higher IMO.

@JohnBob I think you must be talking about another Couto and not the original Dr Juan Couto...

His YouTube channel is full of different type of cases and NW Scales ... I guess you have missed a few like for example, one of the MOST complicated Hair Transplant cases (if not the most) that you will ever find anywhere...

"5805 FUE Grafts on IRRADIATED SCALP in 2 different FUE sessions"

Or this one 3500 Grafts in NW V

Or this other one  4766 Grafts NW V

Or this one, 3225 Grafts NW IV - NOT MEDICATED

One thing about Dr Couto which I agree with most is the lack of particular cases, but I am sure this has to do with the kind of clients that end up visiting FUExpert Clinic, most of whom are said to be high society patients like footballers and famous people... therefore, I understand that these "patients" dont come around Forums posting their results.

But, if you think these results are from an unproven Doctor ... what do you think about the rest?
I assume you have missed or havent even seen FUExpert Clinic YouTube Channel ... as you can see Dr Couto is not just the best with the simple cases but at the same time he masters the most difficult ones like no other.

What it´s true is that Konior along with Freitas, H&W and Couto are the best of the best at the moment.

    19 months

I always intended on finishing off the thread at around about 18 months, however things got in the way and before I knew it I'm at around 19 months as of today - coinciding with my 3rd and final PRP treatment with the Maitland Clinic. I quickly snapped these earlier before I left the house - they are dry with no product, and in front of the window in natural daylight.
I probably won't update the thread now unless anything of note crops up - I'm actually leaving Europe at the end of the month, and will be living in an area where ACELL is licensed, therefore I've been contemplating starting some PRP ACELL treatments if I can find a decent clinic.
As far as the surgery is concerned, I am very happy with my results - they've made such a difference to how I am able to style and wear my hair, its greatly restored confidence, and I've been fortunate enough up until now not to lose too much more ground since March '19 for the results to continue looking good. If I was to be super critical, there is, and always has been, a weaker area between the centre of the hairline and the right temple, where the density isn't quite as a high as the rest of the restored frontal area, however if I comb backwards, this is completely undetectable, and even styled upwards, it probably wouldn't stand out to anyone apart from myself and others who were specifically looking out for it. I would hazard a guess that 10-20 grafts in this area, would make a considerable difference, so nothing major at all.
I'm budgeting/predicting to probably undergo a further small FUE operation between 12-18 months from now, (unless I respond really well to the PRP treatments), which is in line with what my original strategy was when I set out, tbh it actually exceeds past the time frame of when I was expecting to go for a little top up again, which is a bonus.
Anyway, I hope the thread has helped people out in various ways, and I will answer any questions when I get a chance.

    I Think i am norvood 3/4 a.

    My Crown is uneffected.

I have been seaching for the rigtig surgeon for a long time.

I finally picked bisanga and had my first ever HT today.

My goal was to have a conservative hairline and a god dense.

Bisanga told me that i have thin/medium hair. Good colour to skin. About 75-80-75 in donor, with High sides so about 8000 grafts in the bank. He only took from one side and form the back so i still have on side Virgin scalp👍🏻

    Today i Got:

3251 grafts, with an average of 2,12

    - 506

    - 1821

    - 924

density about 60 in the first Lines - Then 50 and Then 45 grafts pr cm2.

The Day took about 10 hours and whent perfect.

Bisanga draw the hairline, and donor zone for me. Then he punched alle the grafts and som techs took Them out and but Them in number. Afterwards bisanga maked alle the recipient sites, and the the techs made the placing.

Here are som pictures Before pictures and Then from today.

Feel free to ask or comment.

Konior does charge 15.4USD per graft (not insane it’s his actual price) and I have to say it was really difficult to get a estimate over the phone but the lady said that it can be even higher than 16US/graft.

Couto does 2 patients per day I did confirm this with his clinic so there’s now way he does both surgeries at once (he’s considered a God at FUE but he’s not omnipresent).

Freitas does up to 4 patients per day so obviously he has to delegate part of his surgeries to techs.

Are you serious about Konior???? OH MY GOD!!! 😲🤯🙉 CRAZYYYYY!!! I still can NOT believe this!!!

About Couto, I would call back and confirm about being him the one doing the implanting... just to be on the safe side.

About Freitas, ufff, 4 patients seems to be almost impossible to do the implanting himself but... maybe he is a Brazilian Super-Hero 🧜‍♂️
