  1. Yaz89,

First of all, congrats on your new HT. I´m quite sure you will look totally amazing with a total of 6000 new grafts up there.

I went through your other surgeries and after the fisrt one your were looking soooo good ... why a 2nd? And what I do not understand is the 3rd ... but seeing the outstanding DONOR you have, I would probably do the same 😄 ... oh, if I had the hair and the BLINK BLINK

You mention Couto in your report and I dont really understand why mix your case at ASMED with the Magician Dr Couto, such different Doctors  ...  by the way, Dr Couto would have provided you with the same result with a lot less number of grafts for sure as would have Dr Freitas as well... and even with thinner hair than yours, just 2 examples:

So once again we can see that ASMED, as everyone knows by now, uses way too many grafts to get same results as in other clinics.

Anybody knows why they do so?

Even for hairlines? Its $1500 for the deposit Oliver. I am so torn and confused about this. I almost feel as though Rahal should refund me my deposit since they are phasing out FUT. I would want to go to the same clinic as I know I will need another procedure in the future since I am going towards a NW5/6 and now if I do go to Rahal for the first FUT, I probably cant go back to them for a second. I am really thinking about emailing the rep and asking for a refund based on the fact that they are phasing out FUT

Sorry to hear about the $1500 deposit but I would email them an explain your case and situation. On the other hand I totally understand the clinics need to take deposits from possible "patients" to be able to have a stable way of work... if not patient would cancel all the time for sure.

Hope you can reach them and get a reply! Good luck!

I will let you know how my experience will go. I don't think you have anything to be afraid of.

As a FYI, Ximena Vila told me she refuses to proceed to surgery if I'm not taking finasteride 10 months prior. Hoping one day surgeons will stop with this nonsense.

That´s a pity, she could have been a great choice. Did you tell her you would take whole responsibility on the final result for not taking Finas?

    WEEK 6 UPDATE!!

Everything is still the same. I can’t wait for some growth still using all the same products except I’m using organic aloe Vera now as the last one had alcohol in and was drying out my scalp pretty bad, new product seems fine though. Had my first hair cut just a number 1 back and sides to see how the donor looked at 6 weeks what’s your thoughts guys? Other than that everything is fine just hoping and praying for some growth soon and for the crown to thicken you the longer it gets. 😂

Growth is around the corner ; )

Good that you changed the aloe vera, all those products are also important in the post-op.

Cant wait to see the 4 months photos

Yeah I agree although my first transplant was a fail (guessing below a third of grafts survived if I did in fact receive 1000 grafts) and this one was technically a repair. Clinic were happy moving forward considering my response to finasteride plus my intention to continue taking it as well as my large donor capacity. Also the fact that I was always self conscious and lacked confidence due to my hairline/failed first HT made me not want to wait 4 years when I could just do it now. Even at 10 days my hairline shaved just frames my face a lot better and makes my forehead look in proportion etc. Already gaining confidence when it looks that good shaved.

Thanks for the feedback man appreciate it. Starting to shed a bit now and looking patchy and uneven. Looked better at 10 days then it does now 😂. Very excited for the final result!

I will be following... cant wait for new photos!!!

Update 7 months and 2 weeks update

Sorry for not updating for a couple months, but here are some pictures i took today, overall very happy, one side of my hairline is stronger and thicker than the other, but the one that didnt have as much done is the one that is alot thicker, i might need a few grafts, on the hairline that had alot done, you can see the small gaps in between some hairs - but overall very pleased. Included some wet hair under harsh light at as well.

I have not spoken with Diep about it - my follow up is not until April. Either way, I'm not sure that this would fall under the category of "money refunded" or "free touch up" - although I think an argument can be made that the lack of grafts in the right temple falls below what should be generally acceptable. I'm not sure what would account for this area of sparseness - all the photos I took in the first few weeks shows that the hair was transplanted there. The only thing I can think of is this is an area where there seemed to be a large scab, but the scabbing essentially stayed put until well after day 10ish.

I took some follow up photos. I just got the hair cut, so it looks a bit different than the photos posted over the weekend. Here are ones where the hair is dry, just washed, no product (and the hair is generally frizzy here due to the keto treatment):

    IMG-1271.thumb.JPG.860ad11fbea19a1e9b5f1211c543e182.JPGIMG-1272.thumb.JPG.834ba108b5aa9c1ee95f86b4daf3f7e7.JPGIMG-1273.thumb.JPG.9173542dd2188f5354abef9062be07cc.JPGIMG-1274.thumb.JPG.0f2e960f0b0a772315897bf5449124bf.JPG

This is after using some wax to style it (I know, doesn't look that different):

    IMG-1275.thumb.JPG.3143030b3de84aa8ffc4b1655f1c0692.JPGIMG-1276.thumb.JPG.3c4fcb0d0d1427473f030434bac9cbf1.JPGIMG-1277.thumb.JPG.3988cdbf40a5733a786547ec3696a637.JPG

I didn't used to style my hair this way, with it up and to the side, but this is sort of my only option because the transplanted hair won't drape over in any kind of fringe.

Here is the donor area (the best quality I can do on my own with mirror), this is a 3 guard on the back:

    Man, this photos look amazing!
Wet hair is complicated to see the "perfect" result that we all want but I could say checking your photos that your final result is a great one.

Update - Dr. Vila said I would need 1800-2000 grafts, which is the number I was expecting since the beginning. Problem is that she wants me on finasteride before and after the surgery and she wants me to go to Madrid for a face to face consultation.

Dr. Ferreira sent me a thorough examination of my case and he's been the best so far. Unfortunately he wants me on finasteride as well, starting from 6 months before the surgery. I replied to him saying I would rather do a second surgery later on, than taking that junk.

Dr. Michalis Georgiu quoted me for 2000-2500 grafts, and he didn't mention any necessity for me to be on drugs. Unfortunately I don't like his results.

I tried to push back with both Vila and Ferreira about finasteride and I'll see what they say. If they can't do without, I will have to look somewhere else.

In general, I'm fed up with this attitude of pushing patients to use finasteride, but I guess they just want to be sure not to have an unsuccessful case in their portfolio.

    Cristero,
So, any news about who? What happened with Freitas? Did you get an estimate?

About Finas, I believe most doctors would recommend you to take it ... which is good for them so that the final result looks great... however, as you say, woould be great to find another way... and the best option would just go for a second surgery after a few years I think..

Hope you find the best fit for you!

    Hi everyone,

I'm Carlo from the UK, and after recently hitting the 6-month mark after my surgery with Dr Resul Yaman in Istanbul Turkey, thought I would finally document my experience so far.

Don't want to write too much here, as I've noticed that these forums often repeat themselves quite a bit, especially when most clinics in Turkey generally all offer the same all-inclusive packages, albeit differ in terms of quality and price.

Ultimately I chose this doctor as I was really impressed over the amount of consistent amazing results, and from all the clinics I spoke to, this one offered me the most amount of grafts and said they could achieve full coverage in one session, as opposed to two sessions required by most of the other clinics I spoke with. The fact that this doctor had two major accreditations and over ten years experience and was very reasonably priced compared to other doctors with the same level of experience, thought this really was a no brainer.

However, there are a few main points that I'd like to make, which are:

    1) Before taking the plunge, I done my research for nearly two years, so was more than confident with my choice.

    2) Communication with the clinic was great at all times

    3) The doctor and staff were incredibly friendly and very down to earth

    4) The surgery itself went smoother than expected, with no issues whatsoever

    5) All necessary aftercare/support was provided and the clinic are still available even to this day whenever I need to reach out

    6) In terms of honesty, when the doctor assessed my donor area he said that due to it being better than he was able to initially make out from the photos that I had sent across from the UK, was able to perform 800 more grafts that initially quoted, at no extra cost. For me this was complete honesty, as I would have been non the wiser of how many grafts I needed as I am no doctor, and the fact they didn't ask for more money shows that the clinic were more concerned about getting the most from the surgery than making money. For me, this only confirmed that I had definitely made the right choice with a clinic I could trust.

Overall, I had a fantastic experience with this clinic and would highly recommend, and based on my research found this clinic to be the most consistent than any other in Turkey.

I will now leave you with some of my before and after photos, as I believe that's what people really want to see.

For further guidance, please visit my website where I'm currently helping others choose the right clinic and saving them months of research - thehairtransplantspecialist.com

    Best wishes,

    Carlo

Quite a result bro! You look like a totally different person 😇 CONGRATS!

What are your impressions? You 100% satisfied? Would you go for a new one to touch-up anything?

Also, could you share some photos on the outside? Or even indoors with the lights in front of you instead than on the back?

    Hi

If I’m being totally honest...I don’t think you needed another HT, I think for 24 your hair looks very good, I would have advised to wait a few more years to see if your hair loss progressed further. That said, your write-up, the work and hairline/temple design looks very good and clean and wish you the best of luck with healing and progress, looking forward to your updates!

P.S. like a broken record...ive also advised others in the process of booking their HT to stay as long as possible to give the grafts the best chance and environment for survival, I stayed 2-weeks but even a week is worth it.

Agree with CosmoKramer here, I dont think you needed a new HT. Being just 24 and with other HT already done (even it was just the temples) I would have waited till at least 30. Didnt in ASMED advised you to wait a few years?

That been said, I envy that hairs of yours and your donor, woww!!! And now with that new hairline and temples, you are gonna look too good bro 😎

    WEEK 5 UPDATE!!

week 5 and time is flying by just trying forget about my hair transplant as this ugly duckling stage is diving me mad so I’m throwing myself into my work and just making sure I’m consistent with my meds. The crown still looks thin and the donor I think is suffering from shock loss what’s your opinions guys? Other than that everything is fine 👍 currently using proscar 1.25mg every third day, biotin 1000ug everyday, saw palmetto 500mg daily, aloe Vera gel twice a day on donor and recipient and alpecin double strength every other day. All the best chaps let me know what you think?👍

It´s time to be patient now ... so as you say, work work work !!!

    Keep updating!

Thank you bro. I went again to that clinic because they offered me free repair and they were so confident that the hair will grow.

That clinic was also in India. In 2006 FUE was relatively new, few doctors around the world performed it and it was very costly and that clinic offered it for $4 per grafts, I could not afford other clinic as they charged more than double that amount.

Dr. Arika which performed on me and Dr. Pradeep from Eugenix have lots of experience with FUE, and explained me that because my hair root is very curly the transaction rate were probably very high if not handled correctly so that could explain why it didn't grow. It is much more complicated to extract curly follicles without damaging them.

The other thing that can explain the poor result I had is that with my previous procedures they first extracted the grafts, then made the slits and only after, while the grafts were several hours outside the body, they were implanted into the recipient area. In Eugenix they perform it differently. Since time out of body is crucial for grafts survival, they make the slits before and then simultaneously extract and implant the grafts so they stay the least time out of body. They have large team, everyone is doing other thing at the same time, some do the extraction, some prepare the extracted grafts in the insertion needle, others insert into recipient, it is done very efficiently.

Wow, thanks for sharing your experience and how everything happened.

I´m sure at the end you will get THE LOOK  😎

In this particular case he doesn't expose the patient's hairline because it actually looks sparse for his particular hair characteristics. You can tell in a few of the photos where the hair isn't covering the hairline that there should be more density. This case should have been an easy home run but I personally don't think the result is all that spectacular as some seem to think.

    ruca2,
I have reviewed the photos and you might have a point. And maybe that´s because on the video Dr Diop is scared to comb the hairline? Wish they would show the complete hairline to see the real result. Now I´m intrigued.

Here is my almost 8 month update. The hair more or less seems to be at its final form. I can't really notice much of a difference between 6 month and 8 month in terms of growth or thickness. I think the hair is becoming less "wirey" and a little more natural over time. However, the angle of the hair still seems a bit different than the native hair around it - the native hair wants to naturally drape forward and down, whereas the implanted hair tends to want to be pushed upwards a bit. I think for most guys this would be a non-issue since combing the hair back is a good style for implanted hair - but not mine. My hair generally works better when styled forward and to the side (big forehead) and the implanted angle is making that a bit of an issue. Not sure if this will resolve over time.

The area behind the hairline at my right temple is also weak. There is a patch there, about a dime size, where almost no hair took. I can cover it up effectively, but you can tell that the spot is missing volume. I don't know if I will try to fix it in the future, but there is a not insignificant number of grafts there that failed. I won't post any close-up photos yet until I get to the 12 month mark, but its one aspect that hasn't worked out.

Other than those comments, I am mostly happy about the results. Nothing to say about the donor area as there are no issues with it and it looks the same as it has since the last photo I took of it. The three photos from the bathroom are harsh lighting, one dry hair and two wet/damp. The other two are in more generous lighting.

    FUEblonde1985,
All is looking great. Cant wait to see the final result at 12 months. It´s true that the light coming in on those last photos doesnt help but I´m sure it will look much better in person.
Also, nice to hear that your donor is looking good, it´s important for possible future touch-ups.
Any outdoor photos? Those would be nice to see.

    Many thanks for sharing 😉

I asked for the link of the average looking couto you say you saw just cuz j wanted to see a patient report of couto that wasn't great because all of the clinic posted ones are very good. Of course you can say the clinic is only going to post their best...but then so is h&w only going to report their best.

Yeah those are both good results considering one had a lot of improvement To coverage with only 2000 grafts and the other I though had a nice looking head of hair and hairline after getting the 2700. The 2000 on that one guy made a bigger improvement to density than the 5000 I got from asmed.

And no, I wish I could see more patient posted results from couto. But when it comes to clinic posted results I haven't really seen any clinic post more impressive pictures or videos than couto has on his YouTube videos. Im Not saying he isn't "human" lol

I was checking at this Post ... https://foro.recuperarelpelo.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=71184  and there are 2 interesting things 🙄

    1. This is a touch-up from a previous op by Hasson. It´s a pity we do not have the result that the patient had in that time after Hasson operated on him so that we could compare.
    2. This result is just with 2004 and only after ... 6 Months  🤩 and in my opinion it looks really good. A pity the patient has not updated the result to see the final look but it was looking very promising.

  16. Really amazing NEW LOOK!
TOP work once again by Dr Diep, one of my favorite Doctors.

One thing, have you noticed that the Dr is kind of scared to comb the patient´s hair? Ha ha, it´s funny, it does the same on almost all the videos I have seen from him. Is this because the respect he has for the patient´s hair being a very personal part of a person?

Love seeing Dr Diep results ... keep them coming 😋
