  1. To give Melvin and perhaps some others some context on how beard hair grows. This is a beard hair that was transplanted into my FUT scar. I know this is a beard hair because: My beard/neck area has grey while my hair does not. It is also located along the FUT line/scar region of my head. Dr. K went out of his way to transplant non-white/grey beard hairs, but of the 400 he put in, maybe 4-6 got through/were white. Compared to my natural hair, the beard hair is slightly thicker, but it is very wiry. Apologies for pic quality, but used whatever I had that was black for context.
  2. Heya — So if I understand correctly, you transplanted about 3100 from your beard/chin/neck and another 900 from your nape region? Where were the nape/sideburn hairs used? Aside, I've always wondered about the sideburns. Is that re: as normal hair? Or is it like beard hair? In the eyes of the surgeon, that is.
  3. Just seeing this. Congrats broski! This is going to look killer. Sounds like you executed this like a ninja. Really excited to see how this turns out.
  4. Last I spoke w/ Dr. K, he told me I should have a full head of hair for the rest of my life given my current donor supply, my beard and the fact I take meds. "You did things right" (he said something along those lines). Of course, I'm in that position because of his guidance ... from the first time I consulted w/ him in 2011.
  5. Here is the crown. One is of wet hair, slightly towel dried and the other is of nearly/fully dried hair. Both were brushed using the brush I described (it can also be seen in picture; it's the cylinder shaped one) Unlike all of the other pictures I've shared here, these two were taken in what I would describe as "regular lighting."
  6. The crown has def improved. I honestly thought peak results were about 7-8 month mark. But rn it's at its best. 18 months is peak, imo, for me at least. I also got one of those brushes that's in the shape of a cylinder and has metal-like spikes on it? Girls use them. It's made a huge difference in taming the crown while giving it max coverage. EDIT: Also worth keeping in mind ... I take my pics in harsh lighting. It's hard to not judge your hair in non-harsh lighting. The pic at the barber is non-harsh lighting compared to what I linked. (I'll also circle back with a new pic of the crown soon.)
  7. Of what? The scar with hair before procedure? If so, I don't have any. It's hard snagging pics of scar. The best one I have is really the one that I linked. I'll take a look. And thanks brother!
  8. Dude. 5mg sounds like too much. I take 2.5mg daily. Maybe on them 6-7 months now? Really wished I got on these from the start vs using foam. Get off foam, dude. You don't need to take that if you're taking the pill.
  9. Hello everyone: For those who know me, apologies for being so absent on the forum. If I'm being totally honest, I've been living life to the fullest in Manhattan since my last procedure with Dr. K. I've met some of you in person, and they can attest I haven't had trouble meeting beautiful women since my procedure haha. Dr. K legit changed my life. Sometimes, I randomly email him just that to remind him. I sincerely do intend to write a thorough write up of my procedures with Dr. K, which includes a 4400 FUT in 2012; 2500 FUT (and some FUE) in 2020 and a 400 graft beard fill in of my two FUT scars. There are some mini previews in my signature below. (Also: here is my hair wet, slicked back POST second; here is the front POST second; here is my crown PRE second; here is crown at 9 months POST second; and here is the best pic I really have of the double FUT scar I'll get around to posting a review eventually. The short version is I thought I saw full results at about 6-7 months, then 12 months. I now believe 18 months is the full results. Things just kept getting better and better. I love it when I'm with women and they comment on how I "have a full head of hair." It's not something I hear all the time, no — not at ALL, but it is something I've heard several times and it really makes me feel awesome. I was legit bald 10-11 years ago. Any who. Got a touchup hair cut yesterday and asked my barber to take a pic of the scar fill in from the back. I cannot shave my sides down to a 2, but I can go down to about a 3. Mind you, I've exhausted my FUT supply over two procedures. Dr. K estimates I have another 2500 FUE in reserve, and another 1K-1.5K in beard. I don't notice any changes in my beard, btw. And it heals INSANELY fast. After 4 days, you could barely tell I did anything unless you got up really close. At the 8 day mark, I'd argue it is impossible to tell anything was done at all. What's fascinating is the hairs grow like regular hairs, I'll post a picture one of these days of what the hairs look like. I know these are beard hairs because A) they are located along the FUT line and B) they are PURE white. Dr. K went out of his way to make sure he didn't use any white beard hairs, but maybe 2-4 of the 400 got through. So they're really easy to spot. They are 100% thicker than my regular hair. But they are very wiry and curly. I can see why they're best used as filler. Def not something you would want on your hairline! Anyway. Pic below shows FUT line nearly a year out (321 days). LMK if anyone has questions. Also, hi everyone!
  10. In an ideal world, 4 months. It's just long enough where you may have some results, while most of your previous hairs are fully grown back. Any scarring from FUT, too, won't be noticeable. In a realistic world, 4-5 weeks. Most people should be prepared to be open about their procedure when returning, unless they have the option of wearing a hat, which isn't the case for most professionals. If it's a working from home-Zoom-Covid job/situation, 4-5 weeks, as lighting and very little concealer go a really long way. People won't notice a thing.
  11. At 90 days, it seemed like nothing was happening. At 4.5 months there was a big difference and I was able to style nicely with use of concealer. At 9 months I want to say I've reached full results. But Idk. Could even make a case for eight months.
  12. I legit haven't noticed a thing. I'll post something maybe in another 2-3 months.
  13. I avoid standing under bright lighting like the plaque. But now, while I still avoid it, sometimes I have to and I feel way more confident in my appearance. fwiw
  14. I am going to lose more hair as I age, including a percent of the grafts I had placed on top of my head. It's inevitable given my hair loss, which I'd peg at either a NW5/NW6. Eventually, when I'm much older, I'd like to have the option to crop both the sides and top nice and short, tight. I'm in a position to afford it and w/ Covid, it made recovery a lot easier (eight days and it's like nothing ever happened). I also miss cutting the sides a bit shorter; you can do a lot more in terms of style with that. Not to mention, I have like 3K beard to pull from + another 2500 in the bank of natural hairs. As Dr. K told me, "You've game planned this right so you'll always have a full head of hair." In other words, filling in the scar is future proofing my HT. People need to realize that in the majority of cases, a HT is not a one-and-done procedure. I imagine I have 2-3 more to go in my life time. In re: to the scar, I've come up on four months now with filling in the scar and things are coming in nicely. It grows a lot slower, I'm told, though the hairs that are growing are long, not stubbly. Edit: Didn't answer these questions: The scar was not noticeable if I cut my hair a certain length; see picture above with me in front of TV. In terms of stretching, that's hard to say. I want to say it did, but very, very minor, after the second procedure. I attribute this to jumping back in the gym a bit too early and doing deadlifts. See my initial comment to answer final question 😃
  15. This really speaks for itself. Off to the beach in a bit and wanted to see what my hair would look like slicked back, wet. I was completely bald in the frontal third about 10 or 11 years ago. Honestly don't remember. Pictures taken directly in front of harsh lighting. More details on my procedures can be found in my signature update.
  16. Post haircut; directly under bright lighting; 281 days, or about 9.2 months. An update to anyone still following this. Before pic taken ~Nov. 2019. Doesn't do the difference justice. The back used to be really bad. Concealer pretty much stopped working as it would fall out of my hair/had nothing to latch onto. TBH, I've sorta stopped capturing monthly progress. Sign of a great HT, I suppose. I believe about ~1500 were placed in the back. On an unrelated note ... I was at at a party talking to two girls recently. One of them was asking me out on a date. She was complaining how "all the guys on Hinge/dating apps are bald." Felt good to hear that haha. Not for my bald brothers, of course, but more so that she was indirectly saying I was not bald. I used to be bald. Any who.
  17. Out of curiosity, what happened? And what was the timeline like? Sorry to hear. Aside, it's my belief, as well as many others, including surgeons, that if you get a HT then you need to take meds, whether in pill form or topical.
  18. It really depends on the quality of your donor and, to an extent, beard. It's great you're doing FUT first and seeing Dr. K, as he'll plan out a long term strategy. Personally, I'd use something like 500 grafts to fortify the front for the first procedure. More importantly, are you on meds? Also, get on minox, either oral or foam (I suggest Kirkland if you go foam. It's the same stuff).
  19. I ate edibles after my procedures. Way more effective than any pain killer. fwiw.
  20. I had 2 FUTs w/ Dr. K. I want to say I often went with a 4 to play it safe. Never had an issue with scar showing when wet, even after second FUT. fwiw. edit: here's a link. This is after my second FUT, maybe month 4 or 5?
  21. I did not say that. I said the person would lose "double digit percentage" of grafts.
  22. The first week or so after my first procedure, my then GF and a few close guy friends told me after the fact that I legit looked like "Frankenstein." And they each said that specific word separately 😂 It obviously got a whole lot better. Aside, I don't care for liberals/cancel culture, but that first post from "Timo" should be taken down. We don't need that racist noise here. Just my two bits.
  23. I'm just realizing I responded to a post that was more than a year old lol
  24. If you have IG you can just place a sticker over your face and screenshot to get around the cropping and whatnot. Looking good at 5 months, btw. I thought I peaked at 5 months, but I'm nearing month 8 and it's really fascinating how much thicker it's become. Styling your hair the right way doesn't get talked about enough post op, but that's part of the process. I think I've figured out how to best do it in less than five minutes. ngl, but it took some experimenting with different products and whatnot (using less is better, but I need something for lift). Anyway. Keep us posted. Looking good.
