How long before an FUE procedure looks undetectable?
KLHT replied to KLHT's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Thank you all for your valuable advice. One more question, when can I start wearing a baseball cap? Is it safe to wear one 1 week post-op, noting that I will loosen it up? -
Hey everyone, As the title suggests, you can see from the image that I have a thick beard but with 3 bald spots (2 are bigger in size than the third which is quite small). When I let my beard grow, they look very odd especially that I have a full thick beard everywhere else. I have already checked dermatologists to find out if this was some skin disorder, but they said that they are just scars where hair will not grow. I'm considering transplanting some 50-100 grafts (plus or minus) depending on the doctor's suggestion. I think it would be a quite simple procedure. Is there anything I should be aware of when transplanting grafts in those areas? I have researched much about transplanting hairs to the scalp but not to the beard. Would be grateful to hear your replies or suggestions.

Hello there, Dr. Diep produces some very good FUE results; an excellent example would be the result of HTsoon. You can search and check it yourself. Best of luck!

My operation with Dr Resul Yaman 14 Aug 2015 (4450 grafts))
KLHT replied to Indexo's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
You're right. For me, even having my money back would not be worth it as I'd like to think of a failed hair transplant as not just money wasted, but also grafts from a limited donor that could've been used in a better way. Having your money back is better than nothing though Anyway, I hope you're wrong too. Best of luck and keep us updated. -
My operation with Dr Resul Yaman 14 Aug 2015 (4450 grafts))
KLHT replied to Indexo's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
Hey there, I am not associated in any way to Dr. Yaman's clinic, nor am I a patient of his. I simply found out that he is recommended thanks to this forum, and considering a transplant with him since he is in Turkey. I've been following his results as well as results posted by patients here and on other forums, and so far I have not seen anyone who is not satisfied. I've contacted several patients directly via personal messages just to have an idea about their experience and everyone was positive, which eased my mind a bit. It is very unfortunate that you and Indexo are not satisfied with the results. I've contacted him more than a month ago and I'm still waiting for him to post some photos. Anyway, how long has it been since your transplant? Do you have some before/after images and have you tried to contact the clinic? Usually, results don't appear after the 6 month mark. -
DUPA, Retrograde Alopecia or?
KLHT replied to KLHT's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Thanks for the replies mikeyhwk, Spanker and Jon. What is driving me away from Finasteride are not the side effects, but the reported permanent side effects that some people have reported. Other than that, I would have no problem trying the medication then stopping it if I get the sides. -
DUPA, Retrograde Alopecia or?
KLHT replied to KLHT's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Thanks for the reply David! By meds you mean Finasteride? As specified I've been on meds and vitamins: Minoxidil for 4+ years, started Biotin, and will be adding other vitamins and Lipogaine shampoo to my regimen. I'm hesitant about Fin due to the issue of permanent side effects, especially that I'm at such a young age. -
Hey everyone, 23 years old turning 24, very advanced hair loss. I know that I will need to be examined by a doctor to know for sure, but based on visual inspection, do you think this is DUPA? I'm very concerned that it might be. Do you think it's just retrograde alopecia? Or a crappy hair cut with the scissors that reduce the volume (I had one for the sides and back last week) I took these pictures in harsh lighting without trying to cover the thin spots to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. The sides are what concern me. The back is still strong though with no thinning except for the nape maybe. (I do shave my neck btw) Family history shows MPB; my father is a NW6 but his donor is still pretty good. I feel his sides are similar to mine as well, but his donor in the back is still strong. ( there are pictures of my father's hair in another thread of mine). Other than that, none of my family members have DUPA. Important point to note is that I have sent images to several recommended and coalition doctors on here. Some have accepted to operate on me while others said it is better to wait due to my young age. None specified that I might have DUPA except for one who said that I might have donor thinning and should start Finasteride. He didn't mention DUPA though. (I've been on Minox for 4+ years) This is not the point here but I felt such information would be relevant to include in this thread Opinions?

Decision making time - would LOVE some feedback!
KLHT replied to abraxas's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Very professional and ethical from H&W! I'm not surprised. I think you'd be in good hands irrespective of which doctor you choose; they all have an excellent reputation from what I've heard/read. It looks from the images that Proscar has improved your crown (assuming that the 5 year old pictures are the ones with the blue background). Did you experience any side effects while on it? And what dosage you were on? Best of luck! -
A failed Procedure what next
KLHT replied to Sam23's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Hey man, Sorry to hear that. Do you have any pre-op pics? And do you mind mentioning who your doctor was? -
I've read several posts and heard patients say that when you have a small head, the area transplanted in cm2 is less and thus you can achieve a better result than if you had a larger head. ( all other factors aside : hair caliber, donor density etc...) To what extent is that true? I mean despite the fact that the area to be transplanted would be less in cm2, wouldn't the donor area be smaller as well and thus the number of grafts would be less than if you had a larger head?

Hey man, I am almost 24 years old now and been losing my hair since I was 17 as well. I know how it feels to lose hair at this age and it sucks. During this period, I have always searched for ways to stop my hair loss and I've been on Minoxidil for about 4 years. Never tried Finasteride, but that's just a personal choice. Minoxidil has slowed the rate of my hair loss I believe but did not stop it. Bottom line is you will lose more hair in the future if you do not try medications, and going for a hair transplant when you are only a NWII at this age is a bit risky since this might develop to higher patterns. I am diffuse thinner in NW5-6 pattern (I was a NWII as well at your age, maybe a bit more) so I have lost a lot of hair now. A surgery with a reputable doctor who will plan for my future could possibly make a good difference in my case since I have lost quite a significant amount of hair, although some might argue that I am still relatively young for a hair transplant. Again, it is a personal choice. I also suggest you seek professional help before taking any decision. Best of luck!

Pre and Post Hair Transplant Advice
KLHT replied to KLHT's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Thanks Spex! You're doing great work helping patients. Can you please reply in specific to the parts about wearing a baseball cap 6 days post op as well as my concerns with respect to my trip to China? Is it fine if I travel after 6 days there? -
Hey everyone, I'm scheduled for a hair transplant soon and wanted to get as much feedback as I can regarding what I should avoid or should not do before and after my procedure to make sure everything goes smoothly. Yes, the doctor has specified this but I wanted to get some feedback from forum members as well since they have been through this. What should I avoid doing before my hair transplant? I've been told to stop Minoxidil 2 weeks before my procedure. Anything else I should do? Post op: Will I be able to wear a baseball cap a week after my hair transplant or is it too soon? I'm staying in the country where I have my procedure for 6 days after my surgery to recover as much as I can without going back home; so no baseball cap needed during this period. After this, I might travel directly 6 days after my procedure on a business trip to China for a week (which is really far: 15 hours duration). Is this something to worry about? I mean it will be my first time in China and I'll have had my hair transplant done a week ago. I'm afraid to catch an infection or something. Is it advisable not to do that? I thought it would be good since I will be away from everyone for at least 2 weeks post op and when I'm back I would hopefully look like I had almost nothing done. Any other advice or tips will be highly appreciated! Thanks

Based on my research on doctors in Turkey, the doctors that I would consider are Erdogan and Yaman (both of which are recommended on this forum and have several results on here). There is also Dr. Ozgur Oztan (Hair Line Clinic - HLC) who is not recommended here but has a youtube page full of impressive video results and one of the few who uses manual extraction. I haven't done much research on Dr. K but based on what I've heard he's pretty good. Hope this helps!

Impressive for 3 months only! Best of luck

Hi Darren, I've been following Dr. Yaman for quite a while and keeping tabs on the results of his patients here on this forum and other forums since I am considering him as well. You can search his name and all his work will pop up. To make things easier, here is a link you can use : Forum By and for Hair Loss Patients - Search Results Regarding payment, as I recall, patients here said that they paid in cash after the procedure was done... Hope this helps and good luck!
