  1. Hi there, My annual cost is about half that and I use 2 pieces. The salon is near Marble Arch but I use to go only once or twice a year. Everything else I do at home or every 8-weeks at a local barber at ?7 per cut. In fact, this barber has started to do my cut in. He's done my last two units. You will probably find the same. You will visit your local barber for the regular cuts/blends and mention fancy next time cutting it in (with you attaching it at home) and he will most likely say yeah. I mean its only hair and if he is any good thats not an issue, right? Thats how I did it. The salon is about an hour into London for me too, but honestly its worth it the first couple of times as you will learn a lot for the future. Its a regular salon (not suppliers) so they are open. And as they are not suppliers they are cool with me bringing my own piece. I reattach at home every 3-weeks. The first time, sure it was all new, but with all the youtube videos I pretty much knew how to do it and what to expect. The second time was so much easier and thats the routine. Not much else to it. Not all hair systems are equal and you could end up a buffoon The most important thing is having a natural looking piece. No point otherwise. You need to find a really good supplier that will help you achieve this. Sadly, from bitter experience I know this can be hit and miss as a good supplier will lift a hair system from average to exceptional. Many places will just order any old average unit and pass it off. When you DIY you are forced to learn more and faster and understand the whole process. I now always have one spare piece and reorder every 6- months. Actually some pieces will last 8 or 9-months, but I will still reorder 6-months as really dont want to leave it last minute or be down to my last one. Its a journey and you will learn along the way, but after 2 reattachments there isnt much more to figure out. With a good supplier, barber and forum help you will have all the support you need and save thousands. I prefer to spend those savings on other things Let me know if you need more help.
  2. I have been wearing 3 years now. I use an online supplier with a stylist in London to attach and cut in for me. I have been with them 2-years and before that I was ordering from the USA. Really happy with the quality and service. I DIY at home and I reattach every 3-weeks. Waiting 5-weeks is too long and these are things you need to learn yourself if its to be viable. The place you mention sounds like a salon/clinic with regular services. The problem with that is it will be 4 or 5 times more expensive than DIY and I really doubt any system will last 12-months. I usually change every 6-months to keep it in peak condition. How much are they charging you?
  3. Forget meds. Too many side effects. Any reputable HT surgeon would never agree to a procedure on a 20 year old with unstable hair loss plus risks. My younger brother (aged 22) was losing hair around the crown and hair line at a fast rate since 18. He opted for a hair system. His biggest regret is not doing it sooner.
  4. Yes you can sleep with it on. I keep mine on for 2 to 3 weeks before removing, cleaning thoroughly and reattaching. The length of time you want it on will depend on a few factors including the bond you pick. you can style it while wearing, just like styling your own hair. post photos of your situation (you can email me if you want more privacy) for advice or find a company willing to give free impartial advice. Avoid clinics and hair clubs. It can make a real difference to your life, but you need to think carefully about it to get the best results.
  5. I decided to make a purchase direct from a factory in China to test the product. I do it every now and then hoping to find that great product...Im still doing it This time it was Shunfa. I had read previous feedback about their shedding pieces as well as the odd positive one so I took a chance. Unfortunately, the piece had a density of 120% (90% requested) and has been shedding like crazy. I have decided to remove some of the hair using the technique in this video before sealing the knots. It may be helpful for anyone else in a similar situation rather than thinning with a razor or scissors as this is another option. I will revert back to my UK supplier though for my next piece!!
  6. I tend to believe the many different voices on here so outraged as to post rather than a salesman pedalling a company line. It wont help those that have handed over their hard earned cash for nothing but disappointing, but you can DIY it for a fraction of the cost and far far better results. For example, I pay 310 a year for my hair system and cut in and manage it all myself from home. Dont give up
  7. As I prefer custom pieces, I do my own template using clingfilm and sellotape. As I dont have anyone to assist me I usually apply the film and tape then mark it while looking in the mirror. Cut it down and double check. At first, I use dots or hatch lines then join them up covering the area I need. The crown area is a little tricky but so far all good. In 3-years no disasters. Usually, I do 3 attempts and pick the one Im happiest with. Any tips for getting it right first time much appreciated.
  8. Hi there, its this one Top Quality & Affordable Hair Systems, Hairpieces, Toupees, Wigs, Hair Replacement Systems - Shipping UK and Worldwide.
  9. Has anyone successful purchased directly from China and been impressed? Have you done it more than once. I have one on order from Shunfa, but I have read mixed things about them and others.
  10. Any good places to get a hair system cut in London? I have tried two places. The first was ?120 and the second ?75
  11. If you can hold on then I recommend that. This TCP are notoriously difficult to self manage given the bonding they use and the skin base. If it gets too much, then try from C22 for the cleanup and try to remove as much of the glue as poss. Ultimately, I would suggest a DIY hair system with a lace base and poly perimeter. Im reasonably new to it to, but DIYing its as difficult as people think, its cheaper and more private.
  12. I would avoid them too. I have not heard anything good about these places and plenty of bad regarding their prices. I want for a DIY hair system and its really quite easy and inexpensive.

  14. I can read the message you sent by virtue of it being sent to my email, however, I cannot find or reply to that message once I log on here. To answer, contact me at terimon at hotmail dot co dot uk and I will let you know my suggestion.
  15. Kamill, I am yet to meet someone that has had success with these laser combs. I have tried meds and concealers but the best solution I have found for a full head of hair is a hair system.
  16. how do we know? ask your sister geezer also you may have a split personality.
  17. In the first photo particularly, the density looks a bit too high. What is the density?
  18. You dont really need to be Columbo to work out different identities share a similar child like style of writing here. Some would say that displays a disingenuous way to treat potential customers. I digress. Not even the most zealous hair system wearers would need 10 hair systems a year unless: a) they use them to for example burn as fuel b) they are a bit rubbish and need changing once a month or so? Just sounds like a ruse to part us wearers from our hard earned deniro. So to balance things up. I've had my current system for 8-months now and I am still very happy with it. I need two hair systems a year and for that I paid ?190 each (purchased two at once). No need for complex payment plan matrix. I purchased it from a UK based company and on checking they do European systems also. If you need help with a recommendation feel free to PM me or reply here.
  19. Its great that we have options and more power to us for that. Density is the most obvious give away and for that research people need to research the issues around hair systems (but thats true for any course of action). In addition, you need to take into account your age and the density of your remaining hair. Then of course you need to find a quality, reliable supplier (which is true for HTs also). As with HTs recommendations and word of mouth are king. I always get mine custom made from a template and a hair sample. I can vary the density and colour for up to 9 different areas of my head. One thing I have learned is price and quality are not correlated. You can pay ?1000 ($1600) for one piece which has the same provenance as another piece for ?250 ($400). A hair system is just a raw material and it will only work when the trinity of hair system, cut in and after care is of the highest quality.
  20. Hair systems are no longer the "rug rat" potrayed in lazy hollywood clich?s. they are natural looking (when done correctly), but as pointed out there are many ways to skin a cat. Believe you me, there are a plethora of people in "normal society" that use maintenance as an excuse for inaction. When the boffins can come up with a permanent baldness solution (and one day they will) then I will of course, consider it as well as the implications.
  21. Given the risks I would back a hair system every time. Maintenance is a joy as I think of the results. It takes me 25-minutes every 2 to 3 weeks and I usually fit it in with watching something, so its no big deal. After all when you have had thin or no hair, I would gladly spend 10 times longer for the same results I have. As for stigma, it doesnt bother me. Everyone close knows I have a hair system as I am quite open about it. I have been in a long term relationship and my OH was more excited than me at the prospect! No harm in looking good however, you wish to achieve this ps my hair system has never come off without me initiating it
  22. Total Cover Plus offer a solution albeit for those unwilling to invest some time or of a less inquisitive nature. What they offer isnt anything magical and to be honest, the front hairline is poor. Its like a wall of hair from their videos. I initially spoke with them before concluded I could get a more natural and longer lasting hair system for less elsewhere. With TCP, you have to pay (or when I last checked) 280GBP per hair system and then around 120GBP for it to be cut in. You then need to change their system every 6 to 8 weeks. Over the year it adds up to thousands. In addition, they told me they will get me a custom made piece in 10-days, which is more like taking a stock piece and cutting it. My biggest concern was over dense. I had read that density is the biggest giveaway. I never understood, how it can be kept on your hair for 8 weeks and to be honest, I dont think (for me) its hygienic. I go to the gym 5 times a week and it would soon lift and without knowing about the system and adhesion you would be lost. Further, I felt I had no independence or understanding if each time I had to go to the salon to get it removed and replaced. I prefer to have my autonomy. Dont get me wrong, TCP is a solution for some, but for me it isnt the best one. I found a supplier in the UK and I pay 235 GBP per a system and get it cut in for 65 GBP (on his recommendation). I change my system very 6-months. During that time I remove, clean and reattach my system every 2-weeks. I send a template and hair sample and get my hair system back in 4-weeks. There is also the option of European hair which I have just ordered. Had my first one for 8-months and still have it as a back up and my current one for 6-months. Just ordered my third one. Very happy with it and very happy with hair systems for restoring both my hair and confidence.
  23. Go for it. If you are like me you wont regret anything apart from why you didnt do it sooner. I love my hair system. Its given me the best hair of my life. Sorry, I cant recommend a place in Oz as Im in the UK and use a company here called UK HairSystems, although they do ship worldwide. Others recommend NorthWest Lace. Read as much as you can and ask questions.
  24. I wear a hair system and I would never go back to a time without one. I have the best hair of my adult life. Since I have had a hair system I have never once considered the need for a hair transplant. Moreover, I am so happy with my hair system and I think this every day since I have a 100% full head of hair. The advantages of a Hair system or unit are just as powerful as the disadvantages of a Hair transplant in my case. I could list the advantages of a Hair system, but in this answer I want to focus on the reasons NOT to get a hair transplant. When people think bald solution, they invariably think of a hair transplant. Maybe it's the way we have been conditioned through marketing. However, the truth is less flattering. A hair transplant is invasive surgery. No matter what you are told, without painkillers and injections, a hair transplant hurts as a strip is harvest from the back of your scalp and then sown up. The harvest hair is then stabbed or injected back. It leaves bruises in the short term, scarring longer term and the possibility of infection. It is expensive and success is far from guaranteed. The hair that is taken from your donor strip may not take and grow. Meanwhile, hair that is pre-existing on your head can still fall out leaving a patchy effect. This is why some people take out more than one hair transplant, but you will NEVER regain a full head of hair via a hair transplant as there just isn't enough hair available, regardless of the thousands and thousands you need to spend. When new hair grows, it can take a well over a year to see the full effects and even then it can resemble "baby hair". Up to this point, we are assuming everything is done correctly, but you don't have to Google long to find horror stories of bad scarring or hairs implanted in the wrong direction leaving a very unnatural look. The biggest barrier for most people is the cost. It's not uncommon to have three, four or five procedures so you can see how the costs can quickly mount up. Admittedly, some people have had "success" with hair transplants, but with the cost, time and pain, is it really worth the risk?
