  1. I just had a procedure with Dr Reddy and he uses the pen. From what i gather its far superior to using tweezers as it minimizes graft trauma. It requires more skill, and is used in congestion with specific incision depths. Positioning of the graft is dependent on the angle of the incision. I posted a short summary of my procedure, this morning. Have a look at it. I would highly recommend Dr Reddy and his team. Properly skilled! I believe it could be argued that this clinic is the best at FUE in the world. https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/176014-%7E2000-fue-dr-reddy-great-experience.html
  2. Just thought I would give a breif summary of my recent FUE with Dr Raghu Reddy and his excellent team at the Private Clinic, London. Over the course of two days I had ~2000 grafts implanted by Dr Reddy's 3G FUE technique. I chose Dr Reddy based on his comparative amazing yields and results with relatively few grafts compared to the commonly discussed other 'top FUE surgeons". First off his team are all pro's and have been working together for years to refine this minimally invasive FUE technique. They were personably, relaxed, funny, and above all caring, profession, and meticulous. I always read that people get experience pain, discomfort, and swelling during and post op. I have to say that with Dr Reddy's technique I have experienced zero pain or swelling both during and post op. The operation finished yesterday and I feel absolutely normal. Not a spot of swelling or even a head ache. It's obvious after doing research on the FUE procedures conducted by the regarded 'best FUE doctors', that Dr Reddy's 3G FUE stands out as being both innovative and geared towards optimal results. He uses specialized techniques to create an extremely non invasive yet high yielding technique, which I am sure he would be more than willing to discuss with anyone interested. In regards to my case, I apparently had really strong, healthy, and "big" grafts (so lots with 3 and 4 hairs). We chose a hairline hat reflects my age (31) and the fact that I have never had sharp temple points. Plus I was strongly advised against having points worked on as many cases are seen where transplanting to this region looks very odd in years to come where further recession occurs. Plus I have a big head so had lots of baldy to cover I am very happy with my results thus far and I am predicted to have a great result due to graft condition and density. One thing worth mentioning is that is became obvious that Dr Reddy's skills are not only recognized by international patients (there was talk of people coming in from all over the world during my visit), but also he is held in high esteem by the other 'best' FUE surgeons discussed on this site, and from what I gathered some of these surgeons aspire to his results. I feel that results are a culmination of skill, attention to maximizing survivorship though a cautious and meticulous proceedure, and his desire to push the boundaries in producing amazing FUE results (as he too apparently had a poor result from a previous surgey prior to his now great results conducted by his own technician!). I predict that Dr Reddy will soon be known as the world leader in FUE. I think with a little more marketing strategy then the general 'hair loss society' will also come to realize this. Another thing worth discussing is the fact that it became immediately obvious after day 1 (which put in ~900 grafts), that if care for precious grafts and thus their survival are to be integral in the procedure then there is no way that these 'mega sessions' of 1000s of grafts are an ethical and sensible way to go. Lets be honest, accuracy and thus results reduces with human fatigue of the Dr, as well as the large 'one-off' head trauma caused in these 'mega-sessions. I would steer well clear of them, knowing what I know now after my experience. FUE takes time and skill. It should never be rushed! Not only were various techniques used by Dr Reddy's team to minimize graft trauma and maximize survivorship (use of graft placement 'pen' system; not forceps, and A-cell) but grafts were extracted and then implanted in various rounds though out each day to minimize their time out of the scalp. A simple yet totally intuitive protocol! Great experience...now the I'm just expecting the Doc's prediticion of a good result to materialize! If you are considering FUE, I wouldn't go anywhere else aside from this Dr's team!
  3. Well isn't all generic in the form of 5mg pills that require chopping? With a 1mg pill, the dose is the same every time you take it. This is not the case for a 5mg pill because a) unequal chopping of pill, and b) unequal distribution of the drug within the pill amongst filler etc
  4. Propecia comes off patent this September, so you will be able to buy 1mg finasteride without having to chop up a 5mg pill (which may affect dosages)
  5. Sound's like someone just go busted. The latest video podcast of bald truth radio talks about Doctors who display their personal life on Facebook, and even those that promote heavily on forums. The discussion lends to avoiding these doctors and the low key doctors who lets their professional websites do the talking seem preferential.
  6. emm17, I don't know why you are giving the naysayers the time of day...Or even visiting the forum. You have hair, mission accomplished...go live your life. If people don't want to believe it (lots of obsessive negative people on here), that is their problem. Congrats!
  7. Dr Raghu Reddy is the most impressive in the UK in my opinion
  8. this! I am always surprised when people start stressing about results before a year is up. It take a year to get the results. Chill out...stressing over something you cant control, especially when you have the expected results so far, will only make things worse. You know you can lose hair though stress right?
  9. This shouldn't happen. Would they deny someone if they had herpes, hepatitis, malaria etc etc etc at some point in their lives? I doubt it. These virus stick around 'forever' like HIV.....This is down to the surgeon and or assistants being ignorant to medical facts and practices and buying into the stigma associated with HIV.
  10. Dr. Raghu Reddy Hair Transplant Surgeon in London, United Kingdom
  11. First off, I don't make quotes for doctors. Im just saying how much I am being charged for my procedure. You would need to have a consultation. Second....are you asking for a non-shaven FUE? They are more expensive I believe.
  12. Sounds like the Dr is trying to impose a 5k minimum price on procedures...so in your case is way overcharging. I am having a HT done by the best (in my opinion) UK FUE surgeon in London. Price is 6 pounds a graft. On average a little over 2 hairs are found per graft. So will a conservative estimate of you needing 500 grafts and only getting 1 hair in each of them, that is still only 3K. Most likely it would be under 2k. What is the doctors name, and is he/she recommended on this site?
  13. Ring them up and demand a refund. Why would anyone get a repeat procedure with a Dr that did not deliver in the first place?
  14. Plus he has long hair on one side and short on the other. He needs a new hair dresser and to wear his hair shorter. He looks better in the before picture in my opinion. Moreover the after pictures are bad for comparison. Not an impressive HT compared to many others.
  15. what do you mean "correlation to hair cloning"? The paper describes cloning entire individuals using a surrogate egg and stem cells. The premise of hair cloning would be to signal a pre-developed basal skin cell to develop in to a hair follicle. So the premises are different.
  16. Maybe try finasteride at a lower dosage. Not sure if its worth having a hair transplant and not taking the drug if future hair loss is likely. Good luck
  17. Dr Raghu Reddy's consistent outstanding results with relatively fewer grafts convinced me that he was the best option for me. Im booked in for early July. Can't wait!
  18. I am finishing my PhD in evolutionary genetics. I study immunogenetics in vertebrates. No company. No salary. Just a passion for science. I think you just highlighted very clearly what your problem is: You assume an outcome before actually understanding the situation. Objectivity NOT subjectivity!
  19. I may have access to this journal at work, but it is pretty low tier so maybe not. My advice to anyone making claims about the pros and cons of sciences based work is to read the ACTUAL article before discussing it. You have read a press release on it. I will read the paper and give objective criticism this week. My first impressions are that it is a very small scale study, from which conclusions can not be firmly based. I will update with my thoughts soon. J
  20. I read in to the few negative voices on the internet regarding side effects of finasteride. Wish I didn't as I wasted a year before getting on it. Every drug has side effects...anti-smoking drugs can make people seriously suicidal! I wouldn't be surprised if most people who experienced side effects imagine some of them, or have a predisposition via prior minor sexual disfunction's. When people say that they have decreased libido and ejactulates, I think its such BS. Unless you are a sex addict, and if you are busy, sex drive goes up and down. Flick on some porn and tell me that you don't get a boner! Also, ejaculate volume, viscosity etc vary dramatically with temperature, diet, exercise etc. I would advice any healthy guy to use fin and not listen to the ney-sayers. I have a friend that goes red and flushed when he drinks spirits. That's unusual. Won't stop me drinking them. Maccer, please give me the reference for the study you are referring to. An n of 61 is by no means adequate for a clinical trial. Furthermore I am guessing that it wasn't even a clinical trial but just a questionnaire, which isn't objective science. This is the kind of bullshit data you see on makeup TV commercials where 40 of 60 women said they definitely "felt" and "looked" younger after applying the makeup. Massively biased data which isn't at all a reliable indicator of the actual affect of the drug. The PROPER medical trials of finasteride were done on upwards of 20,000 people. Double-blind trials!
  21. What's probably more likely is that the dose you were taking was not sufficient enough to slow down your continued hair loss. Why half a pill (0.5mg?) every three days? The recommended dose for drug efficiency is 1mg per day.
  22. After a little research, and me taking more notice of balding men about town, this looks like a common place for thinning associated with MPB. I also looked at photos before I started fin and noticed thinning there. So I don't think the fin caused it. Hopefully the fin and minoxidil will thicken it up a bit. Thanks for the response
