  1. Thanks, will do! PS - were you able to drive the next day, or is that not recommended?
  2. I'm up to bat with Dr. Cooley this Thursday, and watching you update your progress to have an idea of what to expect. Thanks for the updates!
  3. Have you checked your teststerone levels? Definitely something to consider if you never have. I had mine checked in December, and as it turns out they were unbelievably low (220). My Dr ran it again in Jan, and they were a bit worse. I believe it could be related to taking Crestor, so I'm off of it for a few months and will re-test.
  4. Procedures were much smaller in the 1990's than they are today, and typically not as good although I was lucky. I had two around 1996-7, for a total of 1,000 I believe. I was in my early 30's. Very happy I did, as I could get finally rid of the baseball cap. I'm set to visit Dr. Cooley this week, hoping for 3,000 but don't know for sure what's possible as I have not yet seen him in person.
  5. Owen Wilson - LOL!!!! It is healing great. In preparation for my upcoming appointment, Ailene recommended the help hair shake. Are you / did you use that?
  6. Thanks Dr. Charles. It's interesting that a somewhat significant number of Dr.s have their name and photo on the website for it, offering their endorsement for the product. I would include a link but the moderator will simply remove it.
  7. To me, this is why I chose Dr. Cooley. His approaches (ACell, PRP, etc.), while not necessarily the same as other leading HT doctors on this forum, appear to have merit. And at some point in the future may become standard practice - that's what pioneering something new does, it breaks new ground for improved processes and procedures.
  8. Thanks for sharing your experience. I am havIng my procedure done April 17, and was told from Dr. Cooley's office when I questioned the product's relationship with Dr. Shapiro in Fl: Dr. Cooley will gladly answer questions about the help hair shake but no we are not affiliated. The shake has good science behind it and has nothing to do with Dr. Shapiros reputation or surgical skill. Thanks. So I too would like to know more about it. Anyone else use it?
  9. Anyone know how all of this works if taking Propecia and Androgel for Low T? It would seem that if Propecia prevented some testosterone from converting to DHT, them more testosterone would exist. Does anyone know or have any understanding on this? And if one is using Androgel daily, should the Propecia be used daily?
  10. I chose Dr. Cooley because of his efforts in leading HT research for improved results, and this is a great example. One of the respected HT surgeons I interviewed before making my decisions called basically anything like this "mumbo jumbo", which surprised me. I'm looking forward to my procedure with Dr. Cooley coming up April 17th.
  11. Thanks for sharng your story. I am having mine done April 17th with Dr. Cooley (I too have been on the wait list for 3 months), so I'm on the countdown. Did you do the laxity exercise? If you did, be honest - for how long each time? I've seen a video and the presenter said to do it for 30 minutes, which I can't imagine.
  12. Scrounge, Wow, just saw this for the first time. Amazing story. You've done an awesome job documenting this and sharing it with the community, THANK YOU for doing so. And congratulations for beng able to finally get things fixed with Dr. Charles, you deserve it.
  13. I found his website. And I have to say it's very nice. However, sin4life said he consulted with a Tech from the practice, which is contrary to what it says on the website, which says Dr. Koher does all of the consultations personally. Here's a quote: Knowledge and Experience The relationship between Dr. Grant Koher and each one of his patients is a very personal one. Each patient is treated as a unique individual. Doctor Koher personally conducts each consultation , and performs each hair transplant procedure in an unhurried manner, one at a time, with no other distractions. The results have been extremely high patient satisfaction and an reputation for excellence among his peers. We try very hard to match the realistic expectations of our patients with what we can actually achieve. Before any surgery is ever scheduled, Dr. Koher always makes certain that a strong sense of mutual trust exists between himself and the patient. Everything we do – the time and care with which we approach each procedure at our clinic – is geared toward creating a natural result that is both priceless and timeless. Different Hair Transplant Methods At Jernigans in Raleigh, Dr. Koher's outstanding professional staff is thoroughly trained in the very latest hair transplant techniques. Regarding what types of grafts are to be used, we are not “locked in” or programmed to do hair transplantation with only one narrowly defined method, but rather offer highly refined, follicular unit transplant sessions as well as "combination" sessions, which feature the use of both FU grafts and MFU's (multi-follicular grafts) in combination with Follicular unit extraction ( FUE ). It's also interesting that it says he primarily does FUE, which makes one question the cost quoted from the tech. Did the tech really understand? Something else remiss? All that said, he could do a great job, but it's good sin4life is doing appropriate due diligence.
  14. Spanker, Jotronic, hsrp10 - Thanks! My appointment is coming up, hopefully I can do enough to make a difference.
  15. Does everyone do laxity exercises the exact same way, or are there different ways to do them? What are the most effective? Why? Are there any studies on this? I'm scheduled for my HT soon, and I'm not sure I'm doing them right or getting any benefit. It seems like my hands tend to slide over my hair, and the LAST thing I want to do is pull any out just so I can move some around, LOL.
  16. I had mine in 1997 at age 34 and I'm extremely happy I did. I haven't worn a hat since. Now, I'll be doing it again in April, which I'm looking forward to as well.

  18. Ridiculous here in VA too - I'm ready for Spring already! Coldest weather we've had in many years.
  19. Thanks, I greatly appreciate the input/insight. I'm really glad to have found this forum! I did consider Ron Shapiro, and I submitted info to his website. I never did hear from anyone from that office, so I had to move on. After talking with Mike Ferko representing Dr. Hasson, Lollie Russo representing Dr. Cooley's office, and a representative from Dr. Konier (a guy called me but I don't recall his name), as well as visiting Dr. Epstein in VA Beach and Dr. Lindsey in McLean in person, I have made a decision to go with Dr. Cooley. I have scheduled an appointment with Dr. Cooley for April 17th for a minimum of 2,500 grafts, with the goal to see if 3,000 or slightly more is possible. My currently thinking is to improve current hairline density, as well as density in the mid-scalp region. That may change somewhat when I visit Dr. Cooley in person.
  20. Congrats!! April 17th seems a long way off........
