  1. No hood to be over zealous. Just trying to find out if anyone had any first hand experience. I have no relationship to the product whatsoever.
  2. I can second a great experience with Dr. Cooley!
  3. Thanks. Too bad if that's true as it prevents me from donating blood (must wait 1 month before donating for finasteride, and 6 months for avodart). Thanks
  4. Thanks for posting the article, I looked on the forum for this topic after seeing it basically copied here: http://www.defymedical.com/resources/health-articles/325-topical-minoxidil-fortified-with-finasteride-an-account-of-maintenance-of-hair-density-after-replacing-oral-finasteride I too would be interested in learning more about this and if it is available. Anyone?
  5. Thanks Mue, Scooter! 2youngforthis - I don't have the best photos that really show the improvement, but to me it's amazing, and my wife really likes it. The first photo here is before my first one done back in 1996 (about ~1,000 grafts, a lot back then) when I was in my early 30's, the second set is before the work that was done last April (at age 50) with Dr. Cooley. He and his team are amazing.
  6. It's January 29, 2015, about 9.5 months post op. Very happy with the work Dr. Cooley and his team have done! Now ready for Spring.
  7. A good overview by Dr. Cooley here, scroll down: Highlights from the 2013 ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) Scientific Meeting in San Francisco, California Highlights from the 2013 ISHRS Scientific Meeting | Hair Loss Q & A
  8. For what it's worth - I had my surgery done by Dr. Cooley in April of this year (2014) and he used both PRP and Acell, and I'm VERY happy with my results. I'm at 5 months, which by the growth timeline I found on this forum says I should be around 40%, and even if that's all that happens I'd be happy with it - but I believe I have even more to come.
  9. Thanks guys! Really glad to have gotten past the hibernation stage / first few months to the point where now its fun to see the progress month to month. I'm very happy with Dr. Cooley's work, and I would have never found him without this forum. So thanks to all involved for making it the big success it is, all of us living with this situation know how important it is to find the right help!
  10. Agree completely! The only thing I'd tell you is, I'd say wait. From your pictures, things are looking great. You're in good shape, and who knows what the technology will be 5-10 years from now when you might want a touch up? It's only getting better. Either way, Dr. Cooley was/ is light years better than what I had done previously. I'm very happy too.
  11. Since I've been getting quite a few comments about my hair being different, I thought I'd post a 5 month update. It will be 5 months Sept 17th, and according to the growth timeline I found elsewhere on the forum, I should be seeing somewhere around 40% growth. I have attached some older photos to show the transition. It feels good when I get out of the shower and dry my hair these days!
  12. Really glad to hear how things are progressing! My wife tells me she's noticing a difference also for mine. I'm on travel this week, may post an update when I get back. Congrats!
  13. Awesome results, wonder what the next 4-8 months will do!
  14. Congrats! I'm a month behind you, so it's good to hear. I'm just starting to see some progress, and hoping to being able to say something similar next month.
  15. I will second Dr. Cooley. I'm still early following my procedure (3 months ago), but I had a great experience.
  16. That's awesome, congratulations! Looks like things are progressing nicely. Excited to hear how it's going.
  17. Now that I'm a day over 8 weeks post op, I thought I'd post an update on my incision. My wife says it's barely noticeable, and even then, only when she moves my hair.
  18. Thanks Since21. KeithJagger- That's great to hear! According to the shock loss video from Dr. Lindsey posted here on the forum last week, the shock loss hair that will re-grow happens at about 2.5 months, while the transplanted hair takes an extra couple of weeks to start showing. And since you're about a month ahead of me, I'm hopeful my results will track similarly. Thanks for the update.
  19. Thank you for the detailed thoughts / insight. Tomorrow will be 8 weeks post op. Hopefully, following the typical expectation timeline, in 4 more, I'll start seeing growth. I also hope that before that, I may see some of the shock loss hair return from dormancy (usually 2.5 months post op?). Thanks again-
  20. Interesting, I ran across an old 1996 passport photo yesterday that was before my first 500 graft FUT HT (had that done twice back then, so 1,000 total, which was a lot then). Anyhow, I compared that to my hairline back in February of this year, and then again just last week after my FUT HT this year (April 17). You can see the shock loss in the last photo. I'm hopeful that this is only temporary and that they are simply dormant and will be back soon! Unfortunately, the site has added their watermark over my notes on the photos. The first one is 1996 pre 1st HT, the second is Feb2014 preHT, and the 3rd is June2014 postHT.
