  1. If you do have permanent nerve damage I don't believe that it is due to a patients own physiology, but rather a mistake made by the Doctor. However, it is usually temporary. But If it the sensation last more than 2 years I'd say something is wrong. That is one of my main concerns regarding a hair transplant. I hate that falling asleep feeling you get sometimes in your arms or legs. I'd rather be bald and have normal scalp sensation. The good thing is it rarely happens and if you go to a reputable doc the chances are minimal to none. Hope this helps.
  2. Congrats Spanker you are a voice of reason in a world of "White Noise" and I am sure your journey will help others
  3. Dr Konior, If you could take a look at my profile on here and see the pictures of me which I took a month or so ago. I am not looking for the density to match my sides and back, I think for me 3000 grafts could be spread out over the frontal and mid-scalp. No lowering of hairline is needed. I'd rather have less density and spread 3000 grafts over those areas. Ten years ago I had hair you could see--threw in certain light. But I was happy with it. So do you think 3000 grafts would give decent coverage over the frontal and mid scalp? As I said I know it will not match the density of my donor hair, but it will be a improvement over what I have now. My hair when it grows is course and can give the illusion of thickness. Thanks Doc and have a good holiday weekend.
  4. No its not a joke. ANd thanks again for your compliment. Maybe the pictures are more flattering than in person. I have been on propecia for over 10 years and have kept a decent amount of native hair. Then I started shaving my head, and did it for over 2 years every week number 0 clippers. I went to a reputable Hair Transplant Doctor for a consult to see if I needed a HT. He said I needed 3000 grafts, but then again he saw me with a shaved head. I do have some thinning areas but I don't know if its worth risking losing the native hair I have. Permanent shock loss can happen. I am 40 and think that I have saved alot of hair, if not for propecia I would be alot worse off. And I appreciate your feedback. Private message me if you can and tell me your own journey regarding Hair Transplants and any advice you have would help. Thanks again guys for all your help.
  5. Thanks guys for the compliment. I am 40 and for the last two years I was shaving my head to a grade 0. People started telling me I was going bald and I never grew it out because I had it in my head I was going bald. So the last year or so I grew it out some. I am part american indian, and like asians although our hair is course, it shows scalp more in direct sunlight. I'm a little confused rather I should go through with it. I have cancelled strip procedure 3 times already.Don't know if its worth the risk of losing my native hair ( CAN THAT HAPPEN AND NOT GROW BACK) just to get some areas that I might be obsessing over. Like the great poet Robert Frost said " Stay Gold" fellas. Maybe I should not risk losing more hair. IS it possible to come out of a hair transplant looking worse even in the best of hands? And thanks guys for all y our replies. It means alot to me that you take time to give me advice. I hope the best for all of us. If I cancelled 3 times already for a strip procedure, maybe my gut feeling is trying to tell me something. Thanks again fellas
  6. Dr Wesley great work! And the scar is very undetectable. I talked to you on the phone before. I am from Chicago and inquired about being part of your test study concerning a scarless hair transplant. How is that coming along. Thanks.
  7. Spanker, I see you went to Dr Konior. Good choice. I have very tight scalp and am worried about permanent numbness or tightness. Never had a HT before. I live in Chicago and Konior is a possibility. Does he do fue? And how would you say your overall rating is of his surgical team and your outcome? Any info into any chicagoland docs would help greatly....THanks guys.
  8. Overall are you happy with your results? And did you have a taut feeling, or a numbness or tightness still? Your hair up top, from what I can see, looks very full so you must be happy with that. Thanks.
  9. I guess I'm out of luck. Well, the monks lived happy lives and they have shaved heads. Wanted a hair transplant but the more research I do concerning FUT makes me feel like it is a crapshoot. I know it can produce great yields and results. But I'd rather have normal sensation in my scalp than hair anyday. And I don't think any surgeon can promise that. With FUE the risks of scalp damage are minimal from what I've read. I can't imagine a life feeling trapped inside my scalp because of nerve damage. Thanks Mickey for your input. Do any of the top Euro FUE Docs ever come to the states to perform surgery? If you check out my profile you can kind of see what hair I am working with. I am 40 years old and have some hair. Rather just keep what I have and not take any risk. I've cancelled strip procedure 3 times already because I have a bad feeling about it, for me. I know people have gotten tremendous results via strip and I am happy for them. But my gut is telling me not to do it, and usually my gut instinct is right. I have ignored it in other areas of my life and made choices that I knew were going to turn out bad. So why take the chance of having lifelong nerve damage just to get some hair?
  10. Rob your right, its that simple. Just don't get FUT. Could you help me out, I live in Chicago and can afford to travel to another state, but not another country. Who are some docs that do good FUE in North America?
  11. I think you guys are right. I do not want to compromise my mind for some hair. And to have long lasting numbness, or tightness would affect me from tasks such as reading and writing which I do for a living. Rather be bald then have such a strange sensation on my scalp. So I guess I'll shave my head again and just live life. Thanks guys for your thoughts. FUT is not for me. Even if the chance is one in a million that complications can happen, I'd rather have no hair than taking the risk of having a lifelong nerve damage. I think it is a topic that does not get enough attention.
  12. Thanks Mickey for your info. Does the sensation bother you? A year and a half is a long time to still be feeling scalp numbness. Are you happy with the results? And what did your Doctor say about the feeling going away ever.
  13. Whats up fella's I'm from Chicago ( GO BLACKHAWKS! UNBELIEVABLE 2 million people showed up for the parade, more than the jordan 90's era BUlls ever got) and am considering a hair transplant. I am fourty years old and have included some pictures in my profile. Maybe I am not ready to take the plunge. As I've stated before I have an extremely tight scalp and small head and do not want to risk- even if the chances are very slim- having permanent scalp numbness, tightness, or stretched scar. I play hockey alot and rollerblade and the hockey helmet would sit right on the suture line. Even after it healed the helmet still would put pressure right along the donor area and I do not plan to quit playing hockey. I was told I need 3000 grafts and my Doctor said FUT was the way to go. I've heard from others that FUE is just old wine in a new bottle? But I think for somebody that does not want to compromise they're scalp maybe FUE is better for me. Just wondering how much 3000 grafts via FUE would cost if I went to a FUE doc in the states. Anybody know of any top FUE DOCs near Chicago? I know no Doctor can promise a small scar, or not the complication of nerve damage from happening. Thats why you have consent forms. So I am thinking FUE is the way to go. I'd rather compromise a small transection rate from FUE than have the possible complications that might happen with FUT. I've been researching for years, and have cancelled three times my hair transplant months before I was supposed to have it done. As I said maybe I am not ready, and I'd rather not have a lifetime of numbness, tightness, or stretched scar. Actually I'd rather be bald than have those problems. Any input would help brothers.... Also, has anyone gotten FUE by Dr Konior, or is there anyplace I can find pictures of FUE results from him? He is a really good surgeon and I am sure he does everything very well.

  14. Maybe i am not ready for a hair transplant. I can't take the risk of having permanent scalp numbness or loss of feeling, tightness of scalp. I know that i want more hair but i'd rather keep my scalp feeling normal. I guess a doctor cannot promise no complications such as these will not happen. With fue the risk might be less. I know fut is better for lager sessions, mainly because of the cheaper price and as some have stated better results thus far. I should educate myself a little more before i make a life changing decision. As spencer says " once your cut, your cut"
  15. What about scalp numbness, or something i've heard a little about called scalp stretch back. Thats when during strip if you cut out a piece of flesh and sew it shut, doesn't your hairline recede back a little? What are the chances of having a tight scalp or numbness that last forever? I am new to this game and have never had a hair transplant. Maybe its not for me. I'd rather have a normal feeling in my scalp than more hair. So i am on the fence still.
  16. Thanks guys for taking time out your of day to awnser this. Any info helps? And is true fue is scarless? Or does it leave little white dots. Don't know what i should do. I guess a good strip surgery is just one long line, and fue is thousands of little, white dots. Anybody know the cost of 3000 grafts via fue? I know i've been quoted for 3000 fut grafts as going for around 12,000 bucks.
  17. ANYBODY HAVE FUE WITH DR KONIOR? I KNOW HE DOES STRIP AND IS ONE OF THE TOP GUYS IN MY OPINION. A DOCTOR OF HIS CALIBER COULD EASILY MASTER FUE SO I WAS WONDERING IF ANYBODY HAS GOTTEN FUE BY DR KONIOR. I KNOW HE OFFERS IT. THANKS GUYS ENJOY THE REST OF THIS SUMMER. I LIVE IN CHICAGO AND TODAY ITS ABOUT 104. Was rollerblading playing hockey but did not want to get heat stroke so I think I'll take it easy. Trying to play as much hockey as possible before surgery. I am going to take a few months off playing. The helmet would sit right on the suture line, and that could cause the scar to stretch. Investment like this makes me realize that I should do everything in my power to make sure I get the best outcome. Its not only what the Dr does that counts, the patient really is a big part of the final outcome. So I want to do everything by the book. Your thoughts and opinion would be greatly appreciated. Sorry about my lack of computer skills. I learned to write on a typewriter in High School back in the 80's.
