  1. 5 months ago I had my HT and now it's finally showing some REAL signs of improvement! I'm getting lots of nice comments! Pictures are in my blog. Click this link: Hair Restoration Journal for BaldieTwo - 5 Months Post Op These are taken using my phone so it's not the best quality. I'll see if I can add some more pics in the next few days using natural sunlight and my slr camera. I'm very pleased with the hairline which, in my eyes, look very natural. Bisanga also placed a small cluster of grafts at the back of the midscalp (sort of a bridge if you look at my day 1 photos). The gap is now beginning to close, but it needs to be a bit longer. However, I can see that it's going to provide exactly what I asked for, a thin coverage for the midscalp to avoid scalp shine. I desperately wanted to avoid having a thick dense, frontal third and nothing on the midscalp. I just didn't fancy that look. I've currently got a grade 3 on the sides and the scar is slightly visible, but only because it's still slightly pink. Once the pinkness has gone I think I can easily get away with a grade 3 hair cut, maybe even grade 2. I still need another HT to complete the look, but I am a very very customer so far. Pictures on my blog.
  2. I'd like to echo what Since21 said. Start with the hairline (typically you do the frontal third first) and then work backwards. Many NW5/6 people (myself included) initially thinks that the balding crown is the most important to fix. That's a preconception people have because that's the first place most NW5/6s are balding and that's likely what people commented on first when you started balding. It's not the most important part however. People see your face first. That's where their eyes will be most of the time. Also, the hairline is what YOU will be seeing in the mirror every day. If you do the crown first, and you look yourself in the mirror, it will look like nothing has changed. When you have photos taken, nothing has changed... And that's very demotivating. You haven't posted any pictures nor mention of how many grafts. Maybe you won't need body hairs at all. For the frontal third you'll need from 2.5k upwards depending on the density desired, your hair per grafts, coarseness, wavy/straight/curl etc etc...many factors to consider.
  3. How many grafts did you transplant? Best of luck with the growth. Heal well.
  4. You're looking really good! You must be over the moon with your results so far. Especially knowing that you're not even half way there yet and already it's making a significant difference. Grow well!
  5. Yeah. Maybe I was a bit harsh. But i find it very hard to read when there are no paragraphs or punctuation marks... And before you say it. English is not my first language either. Anyway, I have moved on
  6. I didn't read your post. There's not a single paragraph in there which makes it very hard to read. Please can you add some paragraphs to space it out a bit? Sorry to be a pain
  7. I'm happily married and the decision was fully mine. She's very supportive, of course, and I think she is happy I made the decision. Not that she would divorce or love me less of course.....at least I don't think so . Now that the results are showing we're both very happy. I've lost many many years of my age and I feel better in myself. I did it because I wanted to look better, style my hair etc. It's about me feeling good.
  8. Wooow! Looking good man! That's some awesome result after just 4 and a bit months!
  9. You haven't upset anyone. It's just that on this forum people are always suspicious of first posters who praise an unknown/little known surgeon with no evidence other than words. It doesn't mean you are not genuine or that the surgeon is not a skilled one. Think of it like this. You're looking for a new car, but not sure which one to go for. Your browsing forums to find out mroe. On these forums there are posters who's praise a lot of the known cars like Volvo, BMW, Audi etc. Whenever they do so, the post proof in the form of links, pictures, video etc etc.... And these posters also have a lot of posts. Then there's a newly registered user who's 1st post is "I've just bought this car called Troll (which IS actually a genuine car make from the 60s), It's the best car in the world." . He posts no further information, no links, no pictures. Would you trust that poster without further evidence. We're a suspicious bunch on this forum and I personally thinks that's a good thing. We need to ensure potential HT Candidates gets facts and proof of skilled surgeons. So don't take this the wrong way please. I'm sure you're genuine, and if you are, you'll be happy to post your results at some point. You can always blur out your face, that's what 99% of us do anyway. Welcome and congrats on a HT. Grow Well.
  10. This is your first post You don't want to post pictures You are highly recommending a named surgeon Unless we see some pictures it's hard to believe your post. Not saying that Ed Ball is not a good surgeon. I've never heard of him so I can't judge. But no pics, first post and praising a surgeon is often made in the name of advertising...... You'll need to post some pics. I'd love to see your non existent scar after 9 weeks.
  11. Toppik and dermatch maybe? Normally people get 3k to give a light dusting in the frontal third. This has covered the whole head with pretty dense hair. I'd love to understand how this happened. Or....I'm just jealous..you pick
  12. Christmas time! And my hair is starting to make a cosmetic difference. People are noticing the growth and I'm getting comments so I'm in a very happy place Had my hair cut today...did it myself so not a professional job, I'll wait with that until a few months. It really started kicking in at around 3.5 months and now, every day it's getting thicker. Some light conditions are better than others. The scar is still quite pink and I have some (i think) shockloss just under the scar line. I hope that the scar will fade soon and the lost hair under the scarline will reappear. I've added some photos to my blogpost to show progress by month 4. Hair is cut at grade 1 above the ears, increasing to roughly grade 3 on top. This makes the scar much more visible, but I' prefer the closer cut until the hair on top has filled in much more. Click here for to see month 4 photos - BaldieTwo's Photo Blog and as usual, no flishy flashy photos, only natural lighting (in this case indoor) Happy Christmas all fellow baldies and ex-baldies.
  13. I don't know. I mean, it sounds ok in theory, but in reality I don't think it will work. The hair is very different down there and it would look out of place on the head. Often it can be a different colour and thickness. Not to forget it's usually very curly. It might work for curly haired people but not for the general population. I'm also suspicious of their before and after photos, they look photoshopped somehow. Anyway, I might book an appointment with Inga so she can check out my donor area. I hope she takes her time and does it thoroughly, not just a 5 minute job like many other docs.
  14. Yes. I got a complete list of details surrounding the procedure, amount of grafts, preop instructions, terms and conditions etc etc. That was sent to me automatically once I said "yes" to have my procedure. I didn't have to ask for it, and neither should you. It should be automatic. It also had the financial details on there. The full cost, the deposit and when to pay what. I wouldn't pay unless I had all of that in place beforehand.
  15. I'm reading this and.....this is all one sided. I would really like to hear the Doctors story as well. Not saying this is not all true, but without hearing the other persons story, I find it hard to judge either way.
  16. Yeah. Ask for a receipt! It's one of the things that annoyed me a bit when I paid the deposit for my HT with Bisanga at BHR. I had to chase them to get a receipt. It seemed like they didn't normally issue receipts at all. When you pay this amount of money, a receipt should be sent automatic. A proper, signed receipt on headed paper. I'm very organised when it comes to my finances, so a receipt was a must, in particular if there are any issues and you need to prove your purchase. Having said that, they didn't refuse to send it. It just took some time. I was happy with every other aspect of the procedure.
  17. They usually test the blood for HIV, Hepatitis etc. And that's for the protection of the surgeon and techs, doesn't mean you can't have a HT. Never heard of it being tested for in terms of growth success.
  18. Because each hair also has a different resting length (telogen phase). Same as me. I'm 3.5 months post op now and my line is clearly visible. I've got some shocks under the scar and it's still pink. It can take up to 12 months for the scar to heal and lose it's pinkness. The hair lost due to shockloss also takes a few months to regrow. Don't panic. It's very early days. Around 6 months you should really be able to tell a difference!
  19. They don't all grow back out at the same time. And that's a GOOD thing! Imagine if they all were programmed with the same growth cycle. All your hair would all fall out at the same time leaving you bald every time the cycle ends! That wouldn't be very nice, would it? Hair typically have a cycle of 2-7 years. When they do start growing back it starts as very fine, downy hair which will thicken. This process can take up to a year sometimes longer. Yes, probably. Also the skin is damaged so you will find that you'll itch everywhere. It's nerves reconnecting. The hair should grow back. You''ve probably got some shockloss from the incisions. This is perfectly normal and the hair should grow back in 4-5 months post op. Bear in mind that this hair will also be thing to begin with.
  20. Hey Matt, I'm looking at your 3 months pics and its looking really good! Happy that you're finally over the wait and can see those little hair starting to grow. As you know. I had FUT roughly the same time as you back in August. And pretty much same amount of grafts in the same area (frontal third). You have more hair in the crown than me but it looks like you'll catch me up in a few years How's your scar looking? Happy growing!
  21. Nail...hammer...hit! Most people (at least most people on this forum) have done a ton of research weighing up the pros and cons of both methods. They have reach a conclusion based on their requirements and expectations. If the patient is happy then everyone should be happy, be it FUT or FUE.
