Amazing result for so few grafts on such large area. And you still have some more growing.

I like the design of your current hairline, you could probably thicken it up a bit, if it was me i'd keep the general shape of the hairline. I think a man looks a lot sharper with a v shaped hairline than with a straight one, especially when he gets older and dresses well. Think Roger Sterling from Mad Men. Plus it saves you those extra grafts for the crown and midsection down the road.

Can we get some more info about the case? Age of patient, number of grafts fue or fut?

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. I actually had a receded hairline as long as I can remember. I even looked at my 1st grade picture and I even had a slight one back then, but it's been progressively getting worse since I was about 17 so it's definitely MPB. It's not too bad right now and most people can't tell that I have a receding hairline especially if i style it right. I have actually been on hair loss forums since I was about 21, when I first started taking Propecia and during that time have done a lot of research about surgeons. My number 1 choice has always been Rahal, and Feller. But there have been some things that put me off Feller, so now I'm looking at alternatives and so far the 3 that I really like are Rahal, Bisanga and Konoir.

Unfortunately I won't have your hair when I get to your age either hehe. I'm 27 and half of my hair is already grey (great hair genes right?), but that doesn't bother me as much as my receding hairline which is why I'm here. Dr. Konoir looks like a great surgeon. I probably won't be considering a transplant for another 3 years, but can you tell me how much 2,110 grafts cost you? I think that is probably around the same amount I will need. If you are not able to provide that information, I understand. Congrats on the result, it looks fantastic.

I'm pretty impressed with the results Dr. Radha is able to achieve with low amount of grafts. This is not the first impressive low graft result i've seen from her.

Finasteride will not make your hairline worse. If it does become worse it's because MPB in the temple region is usually much more agressive than anywhere else and Fin is not able to keep up. That's why all of the currently available hair loss products are most effective in the crown and midscalp region. You might experience an initial shed which will make you think that you're losing more hair due to Fin, but just keep on taking it because shedding especially in the beginning is normal. Those hairs usually come back thicker and stronger.

Does anybody know if for example, problems with the thyroid wold have a negative effect on the growth of transplanted hair?

I wonder what went wrong. Not sure if you're comfortable with answering this, but was blood work done before the surgery? Do you have any vitamin deficiencies? Do you take any other medications?

Well the OP said So I assumed it was NW6 or NW7, since NW5 is not quite "totally bald". It's worth taking into consideration but it doesn't mean you'll end up in the same position especially if you take action with medicine now. Generally if somebody is destined to become a NW6/NW7 they will start losing hair at a very early age and since you're still a NW2 at 31 that doesn't seem to be the case. Don't mean that it still can't happen, but the chances are much lower. It would be helpful if you could post pics of your hair, maybe you just have a mature hairline.

That is one hell of a result. Rahal is truly in a class of his own, I don't think there's any other doctor out there with as much skill as him.

If you just want to maintain what you have then yes get on Propecia. If you want to try to regrow then go with MInox as well, but honestly NW2 at your age is not bad so I would just focus on keeping what you have. Do you know at what age your father started balding and when he reached the NW6/NW7 territory? Just because your father is bald doesn't mean you will be as well. What are your uncles, grandfathers like?

27 might be a bit too young but it seems like your hairloss pattern if pretty well defined. The best thing to do would be to schedule a free consultation with a reputable doctor, like Rahal, Feller, and Umar in your case. It will probably not provide you much regrowth but it will help you keep whatever you still have right now. Try both Propecia and Rogaine and both of these combined should give you at least some regrowth. But give it at least 1 year before you asses the progress.

Yes, it's possible to transplant chest/beard/etc. hair to a head, however body hair is different than the hair on your head so the result might look somewhat unnatural. The best surgeon for body hair transplants is probably Dr. Umar. There is a limited amount of donor hair each person has. Unfortunately when you are in the NW5-NW7 territory the available donor hair is not sufficient to give you an acceptable result. You will get some coverage, but it will still be obvious to people that you are balding/bald because of the low density. Most ethical surgeons will not perform a transplant once hairloss has reached a certain point. Please try Propecia, Rogaine and Nizoral for at least a year and you might get decent regrowth. I've seen people with diffuse thinning that got amazing results after getting on medication. Best of luck to you! It's just another con artist, people have been lying to make money for ages. Nothing new here.

He clearly stated that he is not interested in a transplant just yet, so I'm not sure why people are suggesting to speak to Spex. Spex is a representative for Dr. Feller who is a very good transplant surgeon based in New York and I believe one other doctor. If you want you can speak to him and see what he has to say, but honestly i would hold off on the surgery for now. Anyway, the good news is that you caught it fairly quickly, I started taking Propecia at age 22 and at almost 27 my hairline is almost the same as it was at 22. If you have no severe side effects then you should keep what you have for the foreseeable future. The other good news is that all current hairloss treatments work well in the crown area where you still have plenty of hair, so if you manage to keep what you have a transplant down the road (5+ years) will get you a full head of hair.

What is the background on this? Did the parents give consent, was he informed about the risks? I'm absolutely stunned that this surgery was performed on a 17 year old.

Thanks for the reply agenteye. I've noticed my hair receding probably when I was 16 and ended up getting on Propecia at 22, so about 5 years ago. For the most part I think it has halted the recession, it has gotten a little worse over the past 5 years, but it's not too bad at all. To be honest I have a lot to be thankful for right now because my crown and mid section is really strong which i'm sure is thanks to the drugs. I think that I'm heading for a Jude Law type of hairline, which can be easily fixed with an HT eventually. The only other change to my hair has been a lot of grey hair, you can't really see it in the pictures but I have a lot of grey for my age. I don't mean to sabotage this thread but I will attach my pics just for reference.

Thanks a lot for posting this. My hairloss is almost identical to yours and that's exactly the type of hairline design i would like to get if I end up going with a transplant. If you don't mind me asking, how old were you when you got the transplant? I'm about to turn 27 and thinking of waiting until I'm at least 30, partly because I hope that better treatments come along and partly because I want to see where I am in 3 years as far as hairloss pattern. I have been researching transplant surgeons for around 5 years now and Rahal was my number 1 choice, but I've seen some really good hairline designs from Bisanga, plus he seems to be more conservative as evidenced of what he achieved with just 1,300 grafts in your case. I'm not looking for a perfect or straight hairline, I actually prefer the V shape hairline, but I would like to close up the temple points a little bit.
