  1. You're going to look great!! With minimal balding and that many grafts, no one will know you even lost hair in the first place! Congrats!
  2. I made a thread about this not too long ago: https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/170586-what-consensus-wearing-hat-post-op.html
  3. Yeah that's a legitimate reason, but, would it be any more embarrassing than how you're feeling now? I was thinking about doing a micropigmentation, But I decided to go ahead and just go ahead with a HT. I have my appointment next Wednesday, so I hope all goes well.
  4. It's Dr Paul Shapiro who will be leading the surgery, but I am fully confident in both of their skills. I will indeed keep everybody informed as I am more excited right now than I have been in the last 5-6 years! Hair transplantation has been something I've been looking into, but have never thought I'd be able to get done
  5. I have officially booked my hair transplant for May 22nd, 2013! It's all surreal as of this point but I am extremely excited for the future and look forward to working with those at Shapiro Medical Group! I can't wait to share my before and after photos!
  6. Echo!!!!! He's my personal favorite too. But that isn't to say that you won't get incredible results elsewhere.
  7. Firstly, who did you get your first surgery from? Do you have pictures? Secondly, if you are keen on staying in Chicago area for your surgery, Dr. Konior is amongst the best in the world and has incredible results Raymond Konior, MD. - hair restoration surgeon In order for us to assess the situation, you're going to have to give us more information about your balding, how far you are progressed, how many grafts you had last time, how good of a donor area you have, etc..
  8. Sure, but not as much of a story as something like this!! They're probably going to go home and share with everybody!
  9. That's a funny story. I've been trying to think of a good, fun thing to tell people. Personally, I wouldn't mind telling people that I got a hair transplant, but it's just more fun to find a great story! It gives people something to talk about.
  10. Yeah. I agree. But if you think about it, you don't have to worry about it anymore. I have a hair transplant next week and that's just the start of my road. I'm going to get balder, I'm going to need more hair, I'm going to have to spend even more money in the future. Plus, my results aren't ever going to yield 100% satisfaction unless a miracle cure comes out within the next 15-20 years. If you really want, you can go for a micropigmentation. I know you said that you didn't want to do that, but maybe you can try a temporary one. I was talking to Dr Ron Shapiro last week and he told me that Shapiro Medical Group just started offering micropigmentations that last about a year and a half; maybe that's something that you can look into to see if you like it. As far as it being an illusion, who cares? How many people are going to touch your hair? Most of them will only see it from a distance. It could be a possible socially liberating operation for you.
  11. Fantastic!! Looking great man! Your hair color goes wonderfully with the hairline!
  12. Imagine how bad it is for a balding gay male who holds ridiculously high standards as well as his perspective partner!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: But to be frankly honest, it's hard to say that balding isn't a big deal for some because, for some, it may be the biggest deal in the world! Unfortunately, our society places a ridiculously large emphasis on beauty and not enough on the things that should matter.
  13. I feel for you man. Although my doctor didn't tell me that I wasn't a great candidate for a HT, I sometimes feel that I am not a very good one. I very much relate to your story. Throughout the last 6 years, the only thing I really think about is how bad my hair looks and how it has impacted my social social life and even more so, my dating life.
  14. Thanks a lot Janna, that helps . I will most likely be in next Wednesday for the surgery; I'm getting extremely anxious/excited!
  15. I'm really really really really interested in seeing the progress photos on this particular case! Great job though, it looks great.
  16. Congrats!! Dr Konior is probably my favorite HT surgeon that I've seen. Everything he produces amazes me! I'm sure your results will be great!
  17. This surgery is with Dr Paul, not Ron. But I will make sure with them
  18. I am not aware of any additional costs. There is a 2% tax and maybe a small post op info packet charge.. 2500$? I'm confused.
  19. Yeah I do think it sort of a double-edged sword though, I am more worried about hurting my grafts than I am about covering up a transplant. That's my biggest worry at this moment, if I have a chance of doing damage after 7 days, I will be extremely worried!
  20. It is indeed Shapiro. Dr. Ron Shapiro to be exact. Yeah I guess I should have stated that instead of assuming that everyone follows my hair transplant adventure!
  21. Lol, well, is it still bloody at 7 days?! haha. I thouth that it would only be for the first few days!! I guess I could still wear a hat at this point, but I would have more opportunities to air it out than if I worked up front with customers all night! Who knows, I'll see what I can do, but I think that asking for 7 days off is already pushing it for me.
