  1. It's been over a year and I never posted my results! Well.. 15 month post op pics are in. The quality of the pics are crap, but Dr. Panine's work is truly phenomenal. I could not be happier with my decision. Have a look!
  2. @OtherSyde.. Well said.. That's exactly why I decided to get my HT. Even though I was only about a NW2 or 3, I was tired of being taken a few rungs down the ladder. I have a very young looking face, and that doesn't mesh well with a receding hairline. Fortunately, I recognized this early and took matters into my own hands.
  3. Interesting points.. this is pretty much what I was getting at. People see macho men like Statham pulling a NW5 and think "There's hope for me!" What they don't see, is everything that goes into the entire package. (e.g. posture, facial aesthetics, wardrobe, build, neck size, skin tone etc..)
  4. This is what concerned me the most (aside from the minox explanation).. All the consults I had, were very informative and covered every single question I asked. If you are worried about the techs doing the actual placement, just ask at the consult. No harm in asking about their experience, process etc.. You should feel 100% comfortable going into a hair transplant. If there is any shred of doubt with your particular surgeon, walk away.
  5. Whoa.. where did you have your consultation (or lack of)? Sounds like you should steer clear of wherever it was..
  6. Right.. he does have a perfect curve to his skull. But without the cheeks and jaw, it doesn't make any difference at all. Example:
  7. I just wanted to address something that I keep hearing about. Been browsing some other forums lately, and it seems that the overall perception towards hair transplants are very polarized. While most people on this site are very pro-HT, people on other hair loss forums are fiercely opposed. Many guys really downplay the significance of hair loss, and always resort to the typical response: "be a man and shave it.. go for the Jason Statham look". I can't understand why anybody would downplay the significance of losing your hair... it obviously accounts for a huge percentage of the look of your face. But the "Jason Statham" response is such a cop out. Just look at the guy: - built like a truck - razor sharp jaw line. - beastly chin - strong cheekbones/brow line Reality can be harsh sometimes, but chances are, you don't look like Jason Statham.. I read that he was actually a model before getting into acting too. Anyway, don't let people convince you that hair transplant surgery is not "manly".. Personally, it's the only surgery I would EVER consider. I started my life with a head of hair, and I intend to keep it. If I was blessed with the genetics of Statham or Vin Diesel.. maybe I'd be singing a different tune. Thoughts?..
  8. Yeah dude.. listen to the guys on here. Can you do some work to improve the hairline density slightly? Yes.. you can. Is it worth it? No, not at all. Let's say you do opt to get 1000 grafts or so. What happens if you get a bad case of shockloss? What if the scarring or redness doesn't fade? You would be 1000 times more pissed than if you had little to no hair to begin with. Not worth it dude.. Get on propecia if you're not and call it a day.
  9. hey difffuse, I think it's up to the doc to decide what length he/she wants your hair for the procedure. I had mine buzzed at a #6, but the doc eventually shaved it down to a #1 in the recipient and donor. I evened it out with a #3 at two weeks, but it's still a little uneven. Now at 1 month post op, it's growing back, but you can still tell I had the HT done. Strip scar is still quite exposed and there is some redness in the recipient that I can't cover up. If you don't want it to be noticed at 3 weeks, your best bet is to not buzz your hair at all.
  10. Yeah.. you've pretty much addressed my fears as well. I'm not even 1 month post op yet, so it's way too early for me to tell. You're going to get the usual responses though (i.e. "wait a full year to judge the results")
  11. I'd say 3000 sounds about right for a very dense frontal hairline.. But yeah, shaving it all down is sometimes preferred or required by some doctors. I believe it allows them to place the grafts more precisely. It is also said that it helps to prevent some shock loss. If you get it shaved down, the HT will definitely be visible at 3 weeks. I am at 24 days post op right now, and the donor area is very, very apparent. I still have some redness in the recipient area, but that seems to be fading more everyday. I allowed my doc to cut my hair any way he wanted for the procedure. Anything to get better results, right? Well.. maybe it will be worth it down the road, but the recovery is much worse, as I can't conceal anything.
  12. Yeah man.. you're going to look like a different person. It's going to look awesome for sure. Keep in mind that the hairline immediately post op looks much, much higher than it will 9 months down the road. Now that you actually going to have hair in front, you're open to a new world of style options. Once it gets to decent length up there, your forehead will just naturally appear smaller. To give you an idea, I went in pre-op with 3/4 inch all around. After they buzzed me with a #1, my hairline became non existent all of a sudden. It's crazy what a quarter inch can do when you're at that length.
  13. Good luck tomorrow, Nick.. you'll be fine. Just remind yourself why you're there in the first place: your existing hairline is not cutting it (no pun intended). The big key is to mentally prepare for the "regret" phase.. because you're going to look and feel like crap for a few months. You'll second guess your decision for sure.. totally normal. You're putting your trust in a world class doctor. That's the best you can do.
