  1. ES, you give some outstanding advice in your first post. Don't jump on the HT bandwagon until you've established a pattern. And also waiting at least until your late 20's or early 30's helps.
  2. Looks like you're going to be an early bloomer! That's a LOT of grafts. How long did the procedure take? Did he say that is all you can do or do you still have some reserve left?
  3. That is really excellent coverage for only 1800 grafts. I would be really happy with that.
  4. I have hypertension that the mainstream medications haven't been able to touch. I talked my physician into the oral Minoxidil. I am currently on 10 mg. a day. I can't tell anything about hair growth yet as I've only been on it a week, but I tolerate it very well.
  5. When I had my surgeries, other than the obvious diseases they look for, they are mainly interested in platelet count. If your platelets are too low then it's harder to clot and stop the bleeding. I believe a count below 20,000 is considered low.
  6. You are very lucky to only be a NW2. I'd at least try the meds. The side effects are usually rare. I didn't have any. If you do have sides, they usually disappear as time goes on. Don't ruin your hair out of fear!!
  7. I just started Loniten. I take 10 mg. daily, but since I have chronic high blood pressure, it fits in fine. In fact, I've been on many strong anti-hypertensives and this is the first one that helps me. In fact I could easily go to 20 mg. a day. I take a very low dose of Spironolactone for fluid, even though my doctor said 10 mg. of minoxidil usually doesn't bother younger people! You will be sure to hear from me if Loniten works.
  8. You can't go wrong taking Propecia. It helps maintain what you've got, and helps prevent shockloss after the transplant. Good luck!
  9. Looks to me your staples are about 1/2 inch below the danger zone. And you're healing beautifully:D.
  10. Those guys are truly the best of the best! I wish they came to the U.S.
  11. AMAZINGLY natural results! Great coverage for only 2500 grafts. What are you styling your hair with? It makes it look twice as thick!
  12. Everyones different. For some people Propecia works better, and vice versa. I spent a time where I switched back and forth between Dutasteride/Finasteride between Dec/March, and noticed no difference other than Dut really knocked my d*ck in the dirt!
  13. Well, I am originally from Virginia. I guess I could wait until I go back to visit my parents, then schedule with Dr. Lindsey.
  14. That almost looks like the edge to where he could lose his hair to. I don't understand that . Should have taken that much lower!
  15. That is definitely worth considering, but there are several great surgeons who do many more things other than purely transplants. Dr. Kabaker is one example.
  16. Are you thinking of this Epstein? (promotional link removed - feel free to mention the physician's first name instead of linking to a promotional website)
  17. Work done purely by hand is best IMO. Anytime you get a device or suction involved the grafts will get damaged. If you want the best yield and value for your money do the strip
  18. I have been in contact with Dr. Chu in Memphis. He is a member of the ISHRS. Does anyone know anything about him? He and a Dr. Langsdon in Memphis are my only options right now, as I am unable to travel too far from home right now. MHR, now known as Bosley is up there, but I wouldn't consider them after all the stories I've read.
  19. And I hope you are already on Propecia . Lots of luck! Next summer you will have a lot more hair!!
  20. Go to Dr. Lindsey in Mclean. I think Dr. Feller also goes to his clinic on certain days or week, at least he used to. Dr. Giannotto is a hack. He was the first doctor I saw back in the early '90s. You are very young like I was when my hairloss started. If Propecia were available back then I would be in much better shape today! GET ON IT!! Lots of luck! I know exactly how it feels to be in your 20's and suffering hair loss. I missed a lot of good times because of it.
  21. Hey Bill! I am sure the pink is from the grafts. My skin was perfectly white before the surgeries. Almost everywhere that there is a 3 or 4 hair graft, it's pink, but only the plug itself is pink, not the surrounding tissue. The 1 and 2 hair grafts in the hairline did not do this. Dr. Wolf did the surgeries when he was starting out in the hair restoration field.
  22. I was a patient of his back when he was training to become a transplant physician. He was excellent even back then! My Aunt is a nurse/practitioner and she says she has never seen such a nice suture (my donor area).
  23. That's what I get for not paying more attention. I didn't mean Epstein was one of the best. Anybody affiliated with Bosley is questionable.
  24. I wish I still had that much up top! I would get on Finasteride and wait it out a while. You're not too young for a transplant, but your pattern isn't really established. You could be like Charlie Sheen and just have a receding hairline but a thick forelock.
