  1. Looks nice. Can you please post some pics of the donor area in your beard? Have you experienced pitting in the donor areas or any scarring that is detectable in bright light or up close? Was the beard hair taken from your neck area or also your check/chin area? Thanks for posting!
  2. if someone does have a scar that needs to be revised then do they just poke holes in the scar and add the stimulant or do they actually cut out the scar in this case? i might call them this week to ask some questions.

  4. This looks interesting. Can anyone confirm time to market?
  5. it seems that they are trying to raise $2.4MM for funding their operations. if it was that promising that this amount of money would be easily raised don't you think? of course i hope that it is the real deal. i'm just playing devils advocate. thoughts?
  6. i was looking at the cover of people magazine today which has a picture of jonny depp as sexiest man alive. it looks to me like he had a HT. take a look and decide for yourselves. his hair looks nice but he does not have whisper hairs at his widows peak, rather it looks like FUE. thoughts?
  7. i've started using an off label finasteride instead of propecia. i was wondering if there is an inexpensive way for me to have a pill tested at a lab to ensure there is 1mg of finasteride in the tablet. anyone know how we can do this?
  8. if anyone lives close by maybe they can stop by the headquarters and report their findings back here. TrichoScience Innovations Inc. Suite 400 ??“ 455 Granville Street Vancouver, British Columbia V6C 1T1 Canada
  9. sweet. thanks. how many grafts are typically needed to cover one square inch? the doctor says i have 'ideal' rope like hair (coarse black wavy) which helps mask my scalp a little better but on the flip side when my scalp shows it looks odd.
  10. i'm curious as to what the growth rate of beard hair is compared to scalp hair. any idea? thanks
  11. WOW! Looks great. There seems to be adequate donor hair for future sessions at the crown to boot. Very nice!
  12. come to think of it my scalp was very itchy to the point i was scratching so much my head hurt. this didn't happen the first two times i used nizoral 2%. i've been shedding for a while but the last 8 weeks the shedding has been tremendous. it could be due to a difficult personal situation i have been dealing with or even an unstable professional situation. either way, i consulted with dr. konior who saw me in december and told me i didn't have anything to worry about last december. now, 8 months later, he says i better start applying rogain to my crown due to the miniturization. it has happend that fast. he also told me to take 2mg of propecia...i have been taking 1mg since 1997. should i leave nizoral 2% in my hair for less time (<5minutes) or dilute it with water? any suggestions? thanks.
  13. sorry if i wasn't clear. i had multiple sessions from 1993-1994. at the time mini and micro grafts were the rage. fast forward to today and i am considering having dr konior remove some micro grafts from my hairline to refine the appearance. i had a consult with him less then one year ago and he suggested i needed about 600 grafts to get a nice result. mind you, i still had all my hair at the crown i've been shedding a little for a year but in the last six weeks since the extremee stress started it has accelerated tremendously. i also get about 4 hours of sleep each night since the stress started. some stresses can't be controlled but i am trying to deal with this as best i can. i have been taking propecia since 1997 and have rogain foan which i got for my hairline. in reading about stress and hair loss i found that when depressed your magnesium levels decrease which affects hair loss. this is what i wanted to know more about. thanks for your insight.
  14. Over the last 6 weeks I have undergone a lot of stress due to a personal situation. I have shed a tremendous amount of hair, more then ever before. I've basically thinned out near my crown over this short time period whereas prior to the stress my crown was full. I also feel like I am losing hair from my donor areas as the hair on the side of my head also seems to be losing a smaller amount of hair and the texture is changing as well. I have read here that this may reverse itself if the stress decreases. My question is if anyone knows if this hair that has shed was programmed to shed anyway. I have a consultation with Dr. Konior to discuss refining my hairline and removing the micrografts and replacing them with single units. Also, I was told by someone that in cases of extreme stress or depression that the bodies magnesium levels decrease which affects hair loss. So would it be helpful to take magnesium supplements? Can anyone comment on this?

  16. i switched from propecia to avodart for about 10 days. no sides or minimal sides with propecia since i've been on it since 1997. with avodart i experienced a tremendous loss of libido, inability to get an erection, no morning wood, and emotional. i stopped and am now starting to function better. back on propecia. what really sucks is that losing my hair indirectly causes my libido to decrease because of the anxiety. when my girlfriend runs her hands through my hair while being intimate, i start thinking about how many hairs might have just fallen out. sucks.
  17. hello, you can see from my past posts that i started taking avodart last month. i had been taking propecia since 1997. after just 2 weeks on avodart my libido is non existant and i have a difficult time getting an erection. needless to say i'm going back on propecia. i did notice that my ejaculate just oozed out instead of shooting out. i'm not sure if i gave avodart enough time to work...maybe it was mental as i was worried about the side. i tried taking avodart every day for one week then just 2-3 times per week. now i'm off it and my erections are getting a little better.
  18. Mon May 25, 5:09 pm ET HONG KONG (Reuters) ??“ Researchers in Japan have identified a gene that appears to determine cyclical hair loss in mice and believe it may also be responsible for hair loss, or alopecia, in people. In a report published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the scientists described how they generated a line of mice that were lacking in the Sox21 gene. "The mice started to lose their fur from postnatal day 11, beginning at the head and progressing toward the tail region of the back," they wrote. "Between day 20 and day 25, these mice eventually lost all of their body hair, including the whiskers. Intriguingly, new hair regrowth was initiated a few days later but was followed by renewed hair loss." The cyclical alopecia continued for more than two years and the researchers observed that the mutant mice had enlarged oil-secreting sebaceous glands around the hair follicle and a thickened layer of skin cells during periods of hair loss. "The gene is likely involved with the differentiation of stem cells that form the outer layer of the hair shaft," wrote the researchers, led by Yumiko Saga of the Division of Mammalian Development at the National Institute of Genetics in Mishima. The scientists went on to examine human skin samples, where they found evidence of this same gene. "We confirmed that Sox21 is also expressed in the hair shaft cuticle in humans ... These results indicate that the Sox21 gene could be responsible for some hair loss conditions in humans," the authors concluded. (Reporting by Tan Ee Lyn; Editing by Alex Richardson)
  19. Mop - the reason i would like to learn more about cycling propecia and avodart is to minimize the potential side effects of avodart but still benefit from the dual action. i have been on propecia since 1997 and started noticing significant shedding for about a year which has accelerated considerably within the past few months. i've been on avodart for one week now and i'm not sure how long it will take to notice the side effects, if any. i just want to be cautious. the HT doctor told me that the sides revert back to normal if you discontinue avodart, but i'm not sure how long it would take to return to normal. since the half life of avodart is longer, i was looking for advice on taking avodart for one week straight (loading phase) then taper down to 2-3 times per week with propecia on the other days. any comments? thanks.
  20. has anyone tried cycling avodart and propecia? would this be a way to minimize the side effects of avodart but still benefit from it? also, for those who did experience side effects with avodart, how soon after you started taking it did the side effects start to show?
  21. I have been on it for almost a week now. I also feel a bit sluggish but I'm not sure if it's because of the Avodart or because everyone around me is getting sick.
  22. hunter56, your situation is identical to mine. i am 40 y.o. and have been on propecia for 12 years. i had no side effects with propecia but have been experiencing tremendous shedding for last 6 months. as of today i took avodart for the first time and i would also like to hear from other users. i also started with ketaconazole shampoo 2% about 6 weeks ago (1-2 times per week). not sure if this has contributed to the accelerated shedding. please keep us posted on your progress.
