  1. It might be to you but all of this BS you refer to is because people have different opinions and it has led to some BS. It seems like there are two sides trying to help guys sort through their options. Thats a good thing. There are alot of guys that probably have wished they didnt just read the " go ahead your in great hands " posts Bill has did a great job in removing the BS yesterday but I suppose we can get NGTGB back so he can make you laugh. Yes Im worried about Drew as Im am about anyone else . His case is just more worrisome because of the extensive baldness. The good thing is it looks like he has decent donor and is going to a clinic who is willing to push the envelope and try hard to get him to his final destination. To just say your in good hands to me is doing him and this site a disservice H@W have probably read this thread 50 times and I can promise you they will take "extra" care of Drew because of all of this. Not saying they wouldnt have anyway but this almost guarantees a flawless experience. I would love to know my clinic is being watched very closely with regards to my experience from the beginning to the end I have decided to keep my posts respectful even if a select few try to get me to bite the bait but I cant ignore the facts no matter who gets mad. I can't see your posts.
  2. Maybe everyone's laid-off from their jobs? This is all getting a little boring, in my opinion, and I hope it gets back to helping people sort through their options. I didn't go to Dr. Wong, but the proofs in the pudding. And, people who have a great experience with a particular doctor often beat their drum - it's human nature. I've only spoken to Dr. Cooley once since my surgery, but he left quite an impression on me so yea I've spoken highly of him. I look and feel a hell of a lot better now than a year ago mostly because of this forum, and I appreciate it. There was some bullshit on here back in Jan. '08 when I was looking, and there is some now; but you newer posters need to sort through that as well.
  3. I imagine things have slowed a little this past year in the hair transplant biz as well as most everything else has. Hell, I've got a client who owns a funeral home and he was complaining his business is down 15% as well!
  4. Be careful AFK. I had my transplant at 24, and luckily the doc put my new hairline about 1/2 inch above my then current hairline. I would have looked pretty stupid at 30 with a lot of blank real estate behind the hairline had it done what I wanted. You'll want to look good at 40, too.
  5. I'm no expert, but do have fine hair. I'm not sure how much donor my 'plug' session 18 years ago wasted, but Cooley said I have about 3,000 grafts left in the donor. So, with 2500 I got this past surgery you'd think my donor area is 'average' or lower than. I suppose that first session got about 1,000 out, if Latham's had of used microscopes and trimmed out the FU's. That would put me at about 6500.
  6. Well, I'm certainly a lot happier than I was 13 months ago. And I think I have pretty good 'cred' on this, as I had a mini graft procedure 18 years ago. The work was subpar, but I probably was better off for most of the 18 years. The doc said I got 300, 4 graft, 'minis'; but I believe it was probably about 100 and I either misheard or was misled. But anyway, I'm a 42 year old guy who knows he'll never have the hair of a 17 year old, but my hair now looks pretty natural. And, I could only wish all of my doctors (family, dentist, etc.) were as professional, knowledgeable and capable as one Dr. Cooley; and I thank this site for leading me to him. Have I had days when I was a little disappointed? Sure. But, the good doctors try and manage expectations and I think sometimes ours are too high. It's the same as in my business as a financial planner. I've had people disappointed when they "only" returned 14% a year for the past five years (pre-2008 of course ) But I've learned to underpromise so much I lose business sometimes. Dr. Griffin in Atlanta, when I consulted with him four years ago, almost talked me out of the whole thing by trying to manage my expectations. After looking at my head he said, "Dewayne, I believe we can fix you up nicely but you're still going to be a person with thinning hair. Your dad is completely bald, and there's not enough hair to get you back to 25 years ago....."
  7. Unfortunately, I don't remember what the hell my original hair looks like. But, I can't really tell a difference in the individual hairs, I just know there's not nearly as many up there as used to be.
  8. Only if you hold a bag of nickels in your left hand...... J/k, of course. If you have a transplant, I can almost assure you won't be in the mood to hang upside down for at least a couple of months. But no, I don't think that will help at all.
  9. That looks pretty clean so far. I'll be following your results so I hope you'll keep posting pics. You had about 500 more grafts that me but your loss was a little more than mine. And, I had a plug transplant 17 years ago.
  10. Aren't you the one who called me a hillbilly?
  11. 1 month, imo for a strip. The flat bench is pretty rough on the donor. But, i'm notsure about fue.
  12. LOL! I've just stumbled onto this debate, and admit I haven't read every word, but man this is a tough group. If I were H&W, I'd probably let my results do the talking. If ya'll didn't like it, move along. The vaunted "top 5" has been produced by mostly regular smoe's like me; so any shots taken at it is shots taken at regular guys - not some publication that has christened a clinic #1, or #5, etc.
  13. Everybody knows about H&W, but here's a nice 3400+ in one session by Shapiro; just to be fair: http://hair-restoration-info.c...1087683/m/5631050493
  14. It happens for sure. Even yesterday, I was working with another board member on our local chamber of commerce on a scholarship program for two local schools. Amazingly, the technical college a mile down the street doesn't list their tuition or answer the damn phones. I swear I called eight different numbers and couldn't reach anyone. By contrast, I called up Harvard University, which is 800 miles away, and asked them about three questions. (We called them just for comparisons and they won't be on our scholly list).
  15. I'd consider Feller as well, as he seems to be an expert on different ethnic characteristics of the hair from my research.
  16. Here's my opinion: Your head looks to be shaped just fine, and you look to be in good physical condition so I would seriously consider a shave down or continue to wear it buzzed like you have it. That would save you a lot of grief. I believe it's one of the wonders of the world how a young lady can almost not notice a guy is thinning just because of his confidence, physical presence, and the all-important "I-don't-give-a-shit" attitude. I remember this (fine) looking lady I worked with in college, who was about 28 and had a 29 year old husband with thinning hair. My girlfriend was also very fine, but we were like 21 or so. Anyway, this guy was only about 5'9 and wore a buzz, but he worked out a lot and was brimming with confidence. My girlfriend commented a couple of times how she didn't notice his thinning too much when I brought it up. I don't guess I would have noticed it either but I was becoming conscious of my own thinning, and would bring up his hairloss just for conversation.
  17. OK, it's almost bedtime and I'll admit for the one person out there who doesn't realize it's April Fools Day!
  18. Dr. Cooley took and "drilled out" a lot of my old plugs in the hairline and crown, then recycled and used them. The scars from that are undetectable. I figure a dr. can do that for you fairly simple, as I think the donor strip is the most traumatic part of the whole process.
  19. Ok, now I've got the rest of the story. Bill has obviously become more sophisticated since he's been the associate publisher of this forum, and has seen what other surgeons offer, so he requested Dr. Hassan play nothing but Van Halen music today during the procedure. Dr. Hassan, being of a different generation and rooted more in opera music, mistakenly put on the song "The Marriage of Figaro," instead of "Hot for Teacher". So, Bill was sort of obviously chilled out from listening to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart instead of Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie's son). Anyway, so he could write off his trip and procedure on his taxes, he insisted Dr. Hassan make some pics during the procedure so Bill could file them with his associated expenses. When Bill saw the donor site pics, he fainted and landed softly back in the chair! We're positive he's ok, but he might need to file an extension. Or, wear extensions.
  20. Try and get the wife to give you some tonight, as you'll more than likely be disinterested in sex for the next week or so. It isn't all that uncomfortable, but I think it's the drugs wearing off that'll keep you feeling week for a few days.
  21. I'm thinking Bill has been very judicious in his scalp exercises, so I'll say 2950 EDIT: Just reviewed, I really mean 2950 instead of 1950 I put to begin with.
  22. I'd say definately. I know many guys who look great with a shaved head. Just stay in shape.
