Dr. Jerry Cooley
This patient has diffuse patterned alopecia with excellent donor hair. He underwent 3,458 grafts (8,080 hairs) and the results are shown 13 months later. We did not shave his recipient area because, like most of our patients, he planned on being back at work in a week and simply would never have had a transplant if he had to shave. We will shave if the patient doesn't care. His donor scar, done with trichophytic technique, was virtually undetectable. Not all patients get this kind of result. Senior Member TC17 Posted February 25, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted February 25, 2010 Dr. Cooley, The result is fantastic, but I have some questions that I hope you can get around to answering. 1. How old was this patient at the time of his surgery? 2. What do you project this patient's pattern to ultimately be? I ask this because picture #7 appears to show some serious thinning in the crown, as well as a dropping of the sides to a level that looks like a NW 6.5 or maybe even 7. 3. Were the grafts distributed evenly throughout the balding area?

Senior Member azn_guy Posted February 26, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted February 26, 2010 I love the fact that I was just with Dr. Cooley. I cant wait for my 13 months! Great Job Dr. Cooley I like the fact that you added in the shaving of the head. Unlike most Dr. Cooley's patients I actually had my head shaved for the procedure...I had to work but I also just wanted to make it as EASY as possible for him. Dr. Jerry Cooley
Originally posted by TC17:Dr. Cooley, The result is fantastic, but I have some questions that I hope you can get around to answering. 1. How old was this patient at the time of his surgery? The patient was almost 40. 2. What do you project this patient's pattern to ultimately be? I ask this because picture #7 appears to show some serious thinning in the crown, as well as a dropping of the sides to a level that looks like a NW 6.5 or maybe even 7. Without medication, I would guess he would progress to the equivelant of a NW6. This is the diffuse pattern of hair loss so I would anticipate he would continue to retain sparse hairs throughout his frontal scalp, including a faint frontal hairline. 3. Were the grafts distributed evenly throughout the balding area? No, the grafts were concentrated in the front center and blended outwards so that should further hair loss occur, it would still look natural. I put him on finasteride to inhibit further hair loss. Senior Member Dewayne Posted March 7, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted March 7, 2010 Bump..... Todd from Tennessee...... Here is a good example of the way my hair was going, in case you see this blog. I didn't have as many graphs as this guy (but now wish I would've went for 1000 more), but I was a diffuse thinner as well. As I said before, I never looked anywhere near as good as the "model" patients that Latham's advertised. I would continue looking.... 100?
