JSR990
I have been debating getting a HT for awhile now and wanted to see if people even think it would be worthwhile for me. I have pretty advanced hair loss for my age, approaching 40. Any opinions are welcome. Thanks!
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted January 4 Administrators Share Posted January 4 What are your expectations? You need around 9-10,000 grafts to have full coverage. Around 6,000 to have the hairline and midscalp with a bald crown. Is that something you’d be okay with? Are you okay with multiple surgeries, because you will need at least 2-3. Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted January 4 Valued Contributor Share Posted January 4 Also if you have a good beard, beard grafts can be utilized as a donor source. These grafts can be mixed in further back behind the hairline mixed in with scalp grafts to obtain more coverage. Senior Member Doron Harati Posted January 4 Senior Member Share Posted January 4 Better if you can grow your hair for 3-4 weeks to get a better estimation. Seems like blonde thin hair, for good density you'll need as mentioned above 5000-6000 grafts for frontal and middle scalp, crown can be done 2nd procedure, if you have good beard it will make the density better in the middle scalp and crown. At HDC clinic we specializes with candidates that has thin blonde hair, you can check our reviews here and contact my WhatsApp if you interested in consultation with us. This is a case of our patient @Barney blonde thin candidate, he has also his own thread, this is our thread: 1 Doron Harati - Patient coordinator for HDC Hair Clinic, HT procedures are done by MD Doctors with Microscope FUE. Dr. Glenn Charles
I am hoping that you are aware that if you do multiple FUE or FUT cases you will have scarring in the donor area. This will require you to keep hair much longer in the donor area to keep the scarring camouflaged. You already have hair loss in the crown that is extending over the back edge towards the neck that may still advance further with aging. This makes the size of the area in the donor region where hair follicles can be used for transplantation smaller. If you decide to proceed forward with HT the realistic expectation should be average density in the frontal and mid scalp only or very light coverage over all three zones.
