Senior Member Janna Posted March 24, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2010 Dr. Ron and Dr. Paul Shapiro Patient - 5207 Grafts=11661 Hairs in 3 Sessions This patient's hair restoration journey started 8 years ago when he was 28 years old. Senior Member splitting hairs Posted March 24, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2010 This is one of the best results I've seen. Its good to see SMG doing great work on guys with more advanced hairloss too. I read so many posts going on about how great your hairlines are - now I'm a fan too. The hairline is a good compromise between something that is mature and something that is aesthetically pleasing. Although it would be good to see more results with 5000+ grafts used, as I know I'm headed down the road of extensive hairloss. The donor area looks incredible aswell!! _________________________________________________ Propecia since July 2008 2201 Grafts with Dr Lorenzo on 19.10.22 - See my write up here:

That is one of the most natural looking hairlines i have seen complemented with nice hair style. I must add that rest of the coverage is excellent too. Is he taking meds? Senior Member EpilepticSceptic Posted March 24, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2010 Yeap, When it comes to hairlines Dr. Ron and Dr. H are right about neck and neck in the race! Of course, the patient has to have the right hair texture/diameter too. I'm guessing this guy was medium fine to medium.
Senior Member hdude46 Posted March 24, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2010 Janna, I echo what everyone else has said in this thread, what a great result. I take it if the patient loses the little remaining hair left on top of his head he has a bit more donor to cover it?
Regular Member Ja-Man Posted March 24, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted March 24, 2010 Nice - one of the best overall results that I've seen! It's great that the patient is able to keep a shorter style. Over the course of the last 8 yrs I'm sure the patient has lost or would have lost more of his native hair. I'd be very surprised if he wasn't on meds. He's on propecia/fin correct?

Raphael84
Brilliant result. The patient must be thrilled. Found the request of a small donor scar very interesting. From the images provided, you cannot see any sign of a scar, and his hair looks very short. So how was this request dealt with? Was simply a matter of smaller session sizes? Whats is SMG's philosophy on the donor strip and how it is closed? Senior Member Janna Posted March 25, 2010 Author Senior Member Share Posted March 25, 2010 Thanks all for your comments and questions. This patient is on Propecia and Rogaine. And he has more donor available for future loss. We'd estimate he's got another 3000 grafts in the donor bank. Raphael, Can you clarify your question on "SMG's philosophy on the donor strip"? I'm not sure how to answer this. As for how it's closed - both our docs use the tricho technique. They've been using mainly the nylon suture for outer layer lately. While Dr. Ron uses the double layer technique, Dr. Paul uses the inner layer on a case by case basis. They'll also both use the staples on a case by case basis. BTW, I just read your hair loss website. You stated you stopped Rogaine because of the concealers. Have you tried using Rogaine just once a day at night before bed? I've heard from many of our patients that once at night is more than enough. Then in the morning they wash and style their hair normally.....just a thought. Best of luck with your procedure with Dr. Rahal. He's a very nice doctor.
