Senior Member Dr. Ricardo Mejia Posted July 29, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 29, 2009 53 year old male desiring coverage in frontal area of scalp. Calculated area to cover in frontal area plus temporal corners: 138 cm squared. Limitations: budget. Total Number of grafts: 2826 Overall "average" density: 20.5 FU/cm sq, some areas more other areas less in order to achieve cosmetic density and distribute grafts accordingly. Patient very pleased. Has no desire to further or augment density as his objectives have been realized with this one procedure. Senior Member Dr. Ricardo Mejia Posted July 29, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 29, 2009 Yes you are correct. The objective of a physician consultation is to evaluate the patients goals and provide the best result that fits his goals and budget with the expected number of grafts. Could we have transplanted 4000 grafts with higher density. Yes. BUt that was not the plan or route the patient chose. Senior Member TC17 Posted July 29, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 29, 2009 Considering the number of grafts that were used, and the surface area that was covered, I would say that this is as good of a result as someone could hope for. The hairline is very natural, and in my opinion the guy looks much better. I gotta give kudos to Dr. Meja for a job well done, and for posting a top down shot. *on a side note, how many grafts would you say that this patient has left if needed? his donor appears very thick, and with that wave in his hair, he would seem to be the type of patient who could have a "full" head of hair if he wanted. Mick from Farjo
Dr Mejia, It was great to meet with you again in Amsterdam.I could not agree more with your statement." The objective of a physician consultation is to evaluate the patients goals and provide the best result that fits his goals and budget with the expected number of grafts." You gave the patient exactly what he required, a natural looking result which matched his expectations. Thanks for posting. Senior Member dakota3 Posted July 30, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2009 This is about what I'd expect from a 2800 graft case on a NW 6.5. I echo everyone by saying if he's happy then thats all that matters.
Bill - Seemiller
I'm glad to see that everyone is being realistic in their expectations and replies on this result. Given that the patient's goals have been met, that's all one can ever hope for right? Nice work and presentation Dr. Mejia. Bill
Senior Member Dr. Ricardo Mejia Posted July 30, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2009 He does have good donor density so if he wanted to have more denisty he does have the donor area to easily do that. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted July 31, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 31, 2009 Of course he's happy! It's a nice, age-appropriate hairline. Good for him that he's not infected with the hair-greed virus.
