Senior Member Sunnycoastman Posted September 2, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted September 2, 2009 I was told by a Gold Coast clinic that if you wash your head with saline solution every hour for 48 hours after the HT procedure the scabs wont form. I also wonder if the new hairs fall out because they break off with the scabs. If they didnt form then perhaps less of the new hair would fall out. Does anyone have any comment. i have an appt with Dr Path in November 09. cheers My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Pathomvanich
Bill - Seemiller
Sunnycoast, Scabs are a natural part of the healing process. It's just how the body works. Thus, I highly doubt you'll be able to prevent scab formation...and I'm not sure that you'd actually want to. All the Best, Bill
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted September 2, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted September 2, 2009 After my first procedure I developed scabs and did saline soaks every hour. But after my second procedure I was given a bottle of graftcyte to spray on every half an hour, and I had very little scab formation. Senior Member Sunnycoastman Posted September 3, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted September 3, 2009 Thats interesting, thanks. i work in a large open plan office so its a bit of an issue for me..i dont like the idea of explaing a hat in the office to everyone I talk to...cheers My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Pathomvanich
Dr. Glenn Charles
I have had many patients who are in a similar work situation to you. I recommend they tell their employer that they are having something removed from their scalp and the doctor has asked to keep the head covered for 1 week. Having to explain the hat to a few co-workers may be better than using up a vacation to have the procedure done. I use graftcyte and ocean water sprays on all patients and the scabbing is very minimal.
