Abbey
Hello, I recently had a hair transplant in Turkey, unfortunately, the procedure left me with unbearable pain to one side of my scalp just above the ear. It is a severe electric shooting type pain that runs through the side of my head. It was ok for the first week, but then I started to experience shooting pains. The pain is unbearable and it is affecting my work and sleep. I am on constant pain killers that do ease the pain, but I cannot live on pills. I’m guessing it is nerve damage. So for people that think that hair transplant is straight toward, is not true. Be careful out there and do your due diligence before seeing a doctor. I hope this pain goes away. I will update. Thanks 1

Regular Member Pbaird98 Posted November 17, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted November 17, 2022 As it’s Turkey it’s much more likely to be FUE, only a couple of clinics are still doing FUT there.

Thanks Sorry to hear about this. If i can ask, does this pain feel like the implanters they used to insert the hair or almost a needle like feeling stabbing into your head? Abbey
Thanks for your responses. I had FUE and it was not so bad for the first 2 weeks, but then after I arrived back in the U.K., the pain started. The pain is so severe? I cannot describe. It’s an electric shooting pain through my side of my head that comes and goes every 20 seconds. The painkillers are easing the pain. Once the painkillers ware off, the pain comes back with a vengeance. I’m guessing it’s nerve damage as they were quite rough in extracting the follicles. Senior Member GoliGoliGoli Posted November 17, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted November 17, 2022 Hm... Seems odd that it would not hurt much the first two weeks but then come on strong 14 days later. I wish I had more advice
Abbey
I do not have much pain now as it’s been 3 weeks, but the electric pain in the right side of my head above my ears hurts like hell. Like I said electric shooting pain every 20 seconds.

You should probably go to a Dr, but sadly I doubt they will do much for you other than tell you to wait it out and come back later if the pain doesn't subside. I do suspect it will subside over the coming weeks though.

Abbey
There is nothing that a doctor can do for nerve damage, I’m in this forum to tell people to be careful and do their due diligence before getting hair transplant and to tell people that problem can happen and is very painful if it does. Nerve damage is an example, like what happened to me.
Senior Member Dillpickle123 Posted November 20, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted November 20, 2022 Who did you go to? Seems they went too deep which would explain the pain hopefully your nerves regenerate in the coming months, looks like the only thing you can do is manage the pain while waiting for the nerve to regenerate
Regular Member Gi29 Posted November 21, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted November 21, 2022 I actually had this issue starting on day 5. The intensity and frequency lessened over time, and by one month, it was barely there. My doctor told me it was a superficial nerve damage. Abbey
I must say that my nerve damage is not hurting anymore after nearly 4 weeks. I thought that this electric nerve pain to my head was going to last for many months. I have not have any pain for 3 days and I can actually touch my head and sleep properly. 🙏
Regular Member WhereIsMyMind Posted November 23, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted November 23, 2022 Good news! The wounds you had definetely look very rough compared to a good careful surgeon. Obviously, in the head there are thousand of nerves that can get damaged or pinched, luckily it ended up not being serious.
