Regular Member DutaSaveMe Posted July 2, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted July 2, 2022 (edited) Age: 29 Been on finasteride for 8 years. During the last couple of years an island started to develop in the front (I'm an island boy ♫). Decided it was time for a hair transplant to fix the receding hairline and add density to the frontal half. After a lot of research I ended up going to HLC Ankara. Great experience! The operation was done over two days. No pain, slept through most of it. If you want more information, just ask and I'll answer Here is an overview of the grafts transplanted. This was done over two days. This is a form which shows the graft distribution. Shamelessly stolen from @MachoVato. HLC only shows grafts with more than 2 hair follicles as multiples. When calculating the average hair per graft in a multiple I used the number 3. This means the average hairs per graft is higher than 2.6 shown in the form. THE TRUTH
Waw ! Over 4000 grafts for someone who is relatively young and only a Norwood 2.5 hairline with minimal loss ? Well I mean okay it's not like you're 20 without being on medication. You are 29 and your miniaturization seems to be stabilized thanks to the use of finasteride so you are an okay candidate but still the fact they did 4000 grafts only for a Norwood 2.5 hairline to me seems way exagerated.... Reminds me of this similar case from the same clinic and the result was really subpar... Did you ask specifically to get 4000 grafts ? Or was it the clinic's suggestion ? Did they elaborate a long term strategy and how about your total donor capacity ? Anyways I wish you a happy recovery ! Regular Member DutaSaveMe Posted July 2, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted July 2, 2022 1 week update: Scabs are starting to come off. Donor is still red, but it seems like they used a very small punch size, so hopefully minimal scarring!

In the online consultation I was quoted 2800-3200. While drawing the hair line they gave me a couple of options. To reduce the number of grafts I could have left the forelock alone, or chosen not to fill in the area at the back. That would probably have reduced the number by 1000 grafts. I do have a rather large head, so that may have upped the requirement for grafts. The total donor capacity was 8000-8500, so I still have 50% left. I also started dutasteride in January and I've seen some improvement compared to finasteride, so hopefully I don't need to do anything more in the coming years. When I'm 40 years old I don't care if my crown is bald Thanks for the well wishes!
Senior Member RTC Posted July 2, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted July 2, 2022 Looks like clean work but I also agree that they didn't need to use all of that - they could have left the island alone as it doesn't seem it was thinning 2 Hattingen September 2023 - Punchouts
Senior Member Vann Posted July 2, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted July 2, 2022 I too just recently got my HT done at HLC. I might have just missed you. Nonetheless, I am similar as I was quoted less and on the consultation got a larger number. Do you have any photos of the breakdown between the density they sketched out? Also congrats and thanks for sharing best wishes in your hair growth journey. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the density they sketched out. The only picture I've got is this one: Sorry for making you tilt your head. Can't seem to flip it the right direction lol. Area 1 is 50 per cm2 and area 2 is 30 per cm2. Area 2 is symmetrical on the other side aswell. Glad to see other people going to HLC. I checked out your thread. Looking good! Best of luck ❤️ Edited July 2, 2022 by DutaSaveMe

Senior Member MachoVato Posted July 4, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted July 4, 2022 Hey, that spreadsheet looks familiar! Haha! HLC loves density. Like with my head, they treated your tuft of hair as if it's already gone. I suppose it wasn't necessary but it's their strategy. I'm starting to think adding Cialis to one's daily routine is a good idea, at least for the first 3 months of recovery. It improves blood flow in tissue. It should help with survival rate. Something to think about. Not to raise any alarms but there seems to be some thinner spots perhaps those were native hairs that faced shock loss or that might be the shedding that has started? What area are you refering to? Definitely have thinning behind the transplant zone, but it doesn’t look to bad when my hair is longer.

I think it’s just the shedding and maybe change from your native hairs as well. 16 minutes ago, DutaSaveMe said: The scabs pretty much came off by themselves. I feel like mine are going to be difficult to take off. I just showered some off not too long ago and I feel like the sensation in my scalp isn’t there so I don’t want to press on it too hard. sukh123
Hlc donor extractions always are very good , have not seen a over harvested donor from them. If a lot of those grafts survive you going to have some serious density

Regular Member DutaSaveMe Posted August 31, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 31, 2022 (edited) 2 months, 7 days post-op: Been shedding for the past month, but luckier than most I guess. Seems like shedding is mostly done, and what is still there has grown a lot. Also noticing new hair sprouting in the recipient zone. Still some redness going on in the recipient zone, but that was expected since my scalp is very sensitive and I've had some trouble with seborrheic dermatitis earlier. Got a prescription for oral minoxidil last week and will take a dose of 2,5mg (eventually 5mg) ED. Hopefully it will boost the growth on other areas that are thin. (crown, mid-scalp and temple points). Edited August 31, 2022 by DutaSaveMe
