Senior Member HappyMan2021 Posted June 10, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted June 10, 2022 My donor area started to itch yesterday (Day 5 Post-Op) and is not letting up. 1) What are some recommended moisturizers or gels I can get from Walgreens to help with this? 2) How long does itchiness usually last? Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted June 10, 2022 Administrators Share Posted June 10, 2022 Use Aloe Vera, it definitely helps alleviate any itching. If the itching is to intense you can request medication to help with the itching. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. Rahal Hair Transplant
HappyMan, Honestly, one of my saving graces that really helped with scalp itchiness both in the recipient and donor area was Nioxin conditioner. I would use an Nioxin shampoo in the shower and then let the the Nioxin conditioner sit on my scalp for about 10 to 15 minutes. I don’t know if it’s the green tree extract or some other ingredient in the conditioner but it gives my scalp a cooling sensation that feels really good and practically… eliminates the itch for a while, even after exiting the shower. Applying Aloe Vera after The shower also helps. Senior Member NARMAK Posted June 11, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted June 11, 2022 I got a bit itchy on on the donor area in the first week or so and sometimes in the recipient area too. The above advice others gave probably is great and works, but for me a quick spray of saline water over the itchy areas really seemed to help. 1 Follow my first Hair Transplant Journey! Senior Member mafpe Posted June 13, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted June 13, 2022 I suppose the aloe vera gel is mixed with water so it'd be watery instead of sticky?
