CaptainFivehead
I had my first FUE surgery back in 2018. I wanted to lower my hairline a bit more, so I had another one done on 12th of December, 23 days ago. I've been comparing my post-op photos to photos I took back in 2018 and noticed I have quite significantly more redness this time, as well as "uneven redness" as circled in the photos below. There's no itch or pain, but does this look normal? The photos below were taken with a phone with flash on and just after having applied Aloe Vera gel, so it looks more red than it does under natural lighting. Like just after the procedure and some days after. I had more redness than this myself.
CaptainFivehead
It's reassuring knowing that you had even more redness. I'll upload some more photos below. Apologies for having different lighting in more or less all the photos taken. I just snapped some photos here and there. Where did you have your transplant done?

Where did you have your transplant done? Having some deeper wounds shouldn't be a problem, right? I just find it strange that I barely had any redness a month post-op after my first surgery back in 2018. My transplant was done in Denmark by Novohair. Alright, I think the redness will subside with time, just be patient. Can you give any info on the clinic, like price per graft and the name of the Dr? Was it the Dr who is doing the procedure or technicians?
Senior Member Fue3361 Posted January 4, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted January 4, 2022 Seems was a side effect of tougher/longer lasting scabs. I assume the area has more trauma. Havnt seen this much. Honestly though, I’m pretty sure you’ll be just fine. Check out my journey here:
Senior Member pkipling Posted January 4, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted January 4, 2022 Since you had your previous procedure at the same office, I would call them and ask them if they have an explanation. That said, I don't see anything alarming about the amount of redness you're experiencing this time, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. My recipient area looked very similar, and I remember it lasting well over a month. My scalp has always been very sensitive, so it didn't alarm me too much - and it eventually subsided completely. I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA. My views/opinions are my own and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of Dr. Mohebi and his staff. Check out my hair loss website for photos FUE surgery by Dr. Mohebi on 7/31/14 2,001 grafts - Ones: 607; Twos: 925; Threes: 413; Fours:
Senior Member ciaus Posted January 5, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted January 5, 2022 Maybe I missed it, but how much bigger or smaller was this recent procedure than the one before? And having your hairline lowered this time means the doctor was working in an area that was bare, without even thinning hairs. I would expect building up an area from nothing like that to possibly require more grafts per cm2, meaning more incisions that would cause more trauma, leading to more redness during the healing process.
