M_T
Hi, My scalp donor is very poor and so I would like to use predominantly beard/chest hair for my next transplant. I do have a few questions regarding the process of taking photos of the beard/chest donor region. - Shave my whole face or just my neck? - Use a brand new razor? - Use a 3 blade or 5 blade razor? - Shave with the grain or against the grain? - How many hours after shaving should I take the picture? - Is there a minimum quality camera (in terms of megapixels) I should use? Apologies if some of these questions seem rather obvious, I have a habit of being pedantic! Thanks in advance for any advice, this site has been a great source of info and I honestly wish I'd discovered it several years earlier!
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted October 16, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 16, 2021 Better to have your beard/chest hair grown out a bit to determine its usefulness as a donor reserve. Moderators Al - Moderator Posted October 17, 2021 Moderators Share Posted October 17, 2021 Let your beard hair grow a few days at least, so the Dr can see what it looks like and give you an estimate of how many grafts he can get. Senior Member Britanium Posted October 17, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 17, 2021 Which clinics are you considering for the BHT ? It’s a very skilled task and even more so for chest hair. The best source after scalp is Beard. Someone like Eugenix for example are able to get excellent numbers from Beard alone. I have grown mine out a little whenever I get consultations done. Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted October 17, 2021 Administrators Share Posted October 17, 2021 Good idea to let it grow. One so you know if your beard is kinky, two to see the density. M_T
Thanks for the responses guys! Will let it grow out before getting any consultations. If beard AND chest donor is viable for me then I think Bisanga would be my first choice. If only beard hair was viable then I'm considering (in order of preference) Eugenix/Bisanga/HLC/Pekiner
Senior Member A Fue Good Men Posted October 17, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 17, 2021 When I got an evaluation of my beard I let it grow out for like 5 days, maybe more. It helps give an idea of hair texture, thickness, etc. Def ask your doctor
