Regular Member pradeepbr Posted June 12, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted June 12, 2021 I have done 4 hair transplants. I believe my donor supply is exhausted. I want to know if its better to use nape hair instead of beard hair. I have a some degree of retrograde alopecia. But in terms of permanence which one is better. Which one survives longer? Does nape hair grafts have more than 1 follicle? I feel if nape hair is viable nearly every nape hair can be harvested.
Senior Member gillenator Posted June 13, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted June 13, 2021 There is no doubt that beard donor is permanent…however nape hair is variable between individuals…and if you have retrograde alopecia, nape hair is very questionable…if you have good beard donor, IMHO that would be a better choice, but not to create a new hairline. 1 Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. Regular Member pradeepbr Posted June 17, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 17, 2021 I would use beard hair for my next transplant. Thanks gillenator for confirming beard hair is permanent. I plan to get hair transplant done with Eugenix or with Parsa Mohebi if going to India is not safe due to corona cases. I feel both of them do transplant in same style. Senior Member gillenator Posted June 17, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted June 17, 2021 How many “beard to scalp” cases have each clinic performed and how many fully matured cases of these have you viewed? Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted June 18, 2021 Administrators Share Posted June 18, 2021 Nape hair is not permanent. Definitely use beard hair if all scalp hair is exhausted. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I do not receive any compensation from any clinic. My comments are not medical advice. Regular Member pradeepbr Posted June 18, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 18, 2021 My last transplant was 6 months ago. Will wait for another 4 months before I do beard to scalp transplant. I am not yet finalized on Doctor, so will be checking this forum for the beard to scalp transplant specialist doctor. I’m looking at Eugenix still. But have considered Dr Bisanga too. 👌
Senior Member Sean Posted July 12, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted July 12, 2021 Nape nor beard hair is fully permanent. Yield is extremely low. Nape is very fragile. in my case, both seem to be problematic. Does not look natural.
Senior Member gillenator Posted July 13, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted July 13, 2021 So was the yield with beard donor low?
