FUE scarring

Hello, some general questions for FUE scars.

1. Which punch size should be acceptable to not show much scarring?
2. Also, lets say 10 years after your transplant you decide to shave it off and go for the bald look ... will you definitely need SMP or some other type of aesthetic procedure to cover up any scarring on the donor and the recipient site?
3. Anything we can do after the transplant to reduce scarring potential or prevent maximum scarring?

Typically anything below 1mm will be favorable in terms of scarring. 0.8mm seems to be the preferred, but may not be the best for thick-haired individuals. If you decide to shave clean with a razor you will need smp regardless of the size of the punch. Unfortunately, scarring is largely physiological. However, there are things that can reduce the appearance of scarring. Acell is a cream that is FDA approved to treat scars. That said, if you cannot handle scars, do not get a hair transplant Doing nothing is never a bad thing.

@kingk if you have any plans 'however slight' in shaving your head years from now then do not get a hair transplant. Whenever you cut through the skin with FUT you are left with thousands of punctuated wounds left to scar. Some people scar better than others due to genetics, skin color, etc. But scars are for life.

Any FUE or any HT procedure is traumatic, professional clinic will do the minimum trauma compare to amateur clinic, high skilled doctor will customize the best punch for the patient, but also the touch should be gentle, idealistic is do punch between 5 grafts space.

Unfortunately I was botched in a hair mill in Turkey called Arenamed clinic, year after I had a repair procedure by Dr. Maras at HDC clinic, most of the grafts in the repair procedure were punched from the sides of my head, I'll attach my photos to compare both recovery results with my scars by Arenamed.

Thank you for the replies. I guess I have to play the game of having the illusion of hair for my "youth" and consequently dealing with visible scars 10+ years after my native hairs fall (even if I'm on finasteride). I haven't been able to find any pictures of donor sites or recipient sites 10+ years apart ... would love to see how transplants look like many years from now for some!
