Volcomander
Hello, Looking to have SMP completed. Looking for a reputable scalp micro pigmentation clinic on the East Coast. Preferably in Raleigh, NC. DC or Richmond, VA. I am located in Hampton Roads, VA. Talked to Bosley on Va Beach. They have an individual who performs SMP at their office in Raleigh. I couldn't find much info or pics on their SMP procedures. Background: Active/Outside lifestyle, 2 kids under 3. Demanding job. I am over the 20 to 30 mins to "do" my thinning / receding hair and wearing hats. I have been using finestride since 2011. I have also had 2 transplants. Only to loose hair on the top crown again. Thanks in advance. Edited March 24, 2021 by Volcomander
Senior Member shami26 Posted March 24, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted March 24, 2021 I would completely avoid Bosley. They have a terrible reputation, you can read about them on this forum. Look for an independent clinic that does good work. 2 Medication for Male Pattern Baldness: Topical Dutasteride - Topical Minoxidil 5% - Ketoconazole Shampoo Medication for Cicatricial Alopecia: Hydroxychloroquine - Topical Clobestasol - Doxycycline
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted March 25, 2021 Valued Contributor Share Posted March 25, 2021 Do lots of research and be prepared to fly. Make sure that whoever does your SMP has a strong body of work that you can see and preferably speak with someone who has had SMP by that artist. Treat it as you would if you were looking to have a hair transplant. All the best. 3 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix

Senior Member ciaus Posted March 25, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted March 25, 2021 Yes avoid Bosley. Here are some places you can check out based on your location requests. But like @Gatsby says, be willing to travel in general. You don't want to get a sub-par job and then be scrambling around trying to get it lasered off and fixed. The NYC area is kind of the mecca for SMP in the US, but there's alot of places to sift through. Agree with @JohnAC71 about checking out @hairthere 's operation, he's just outside NYC. https://www.teammicro.com/smp/us/washington-dc/ https://www.teammicro.com/smp/us/raleigh/

Especially bc they didn't have any pics of their "local" SMP work. I assumed NYC has the best options. My only concern is if I need "touch ups" or multiple sessions. I am looking for somewhere closer to me. Can anyone attest to the on clinics on team micro links above? Also, side note. I am a white guy. From my research and looking at pictures. In my opinion SMP in general, looks better on individuals with darker skin complexion. Some clinics seem to have more experience with darker skin tones. Thanks again everyone for the responses!
