Seriously, I am glad that you had this convo with these docs because, for some of us, doing FUE and then FUT is the more optimal choice. FYI, Dr. Suneet Soni, who is a recommended surgeon on this site, does both FUE and FUT in a single session. There has been a lot of debating whether you should go FUT first or FUE. I think its best go FUT first unless you plan on having regular sized session nothing above 3,000 grafts. I asked them if I could have an FUT after having 5K plus, and they said it's possible, but I may need to wear my hair longer to cover the scar, so something to consider. 1 I’m a paid admin for Hair Transplant Network. I am glad you mentioned this as it's extremely important to talk about how much FUE is done before going to FUT. I understand combining them to maximise grafts, I just want to know if there's any downside to going FUT, doing a smaller FUE and then potentially a large FUT down the road. 2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now. Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018. Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.
