Senior Member Abhinay Singh Posted October 2, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted October 2, 2020 Doing hair transplant procedures upon SMP is tricky! A lot of patients and doctors wish to remove the SMP first with Q Switch laser and then do hair transplantation. By doing a laser, there is a potential risk of damaging the existing black hair and making the recipient unfavorable for the future potential transplants, due to the scars that could appear by the laser rays hitting the dermis. We approached the index case in a different way. We did not remove the SMP color, rather tried to use the color value of the SMP to augment the illusion of density of the newly grown hair after transplantation. The index case turned out to be very successful in fruition as planned before the procedure. It was a career-saving procedure for the actor. The main challenge was to respond to the depleted donor due to previous procedures and have enough grafts to cover the bald area without going into the unsafe zone of the donor area.
