agrolove
Hello everyone, I only recently knew about this forum. i wish I did before as it seems quite big and informative. i am still finding my way around so I'm sorry if i posted in a wrong section. Anyway. I had my surgery in March of this year. The surgery itself was uneventful in terms of recovery and discomfort, apart from some precautions in the immediate stage after. I have been using minoxidil 5% after surgery and reluctant as to using finasteride. My doctor recommended using finasteride 3 times a week but I am still refusing. I am now 6 months after surgery and was reassured by the doctor that I am progressing well. I just wanted to get a second opinion from this forum to see if you guys think that I am on the right track? i know finasteride helps a lot, but is it ok to be only on minoxidil for now? Are the results as good as it should be. I had around 3000 grafts. I am 45 years old and I was really anxious as I did not want anything to look unnatural. I was quite clear with the doc that I wanted a conservative approach to the whole thing. Regular Member FoxtrotChi Posted September 6, 2020 Regular Member Share Posted September 6, 2020 It’s hard to say for sure as you have styled your hair differently at 6 months. Seems to look good though based on your goals. Six months is maybe 50% of final result, and many new hairs aren’t as long or haven’t matured, so it should only get better. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted September 6, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted September 6, 2020 The immediate post-op pics look clean and refined. Though the styling difference makes it difficult to say, I think you're on track for 6 months with more improvement to come. @transplantedphil is right that medication is a personal thing. Minox was poison for me in that it caused a severe skin reaction, but Fin has been great for 14 years. If you think minox is working for you then keep with it. If you start losing hair behind the transplanted region then you should definitely consider adding Fin. Senior Member Britanium Posted September 6, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted September 6, 2020 You do have growth, and as others have mentioned it’s early days. I also agree the works looks really good and very refined. Keep updating us every month and I’m sure your going to see continued growth and maturity. Out of curiosity who was your Dr? agrolove
Thank you all for the reassurance. I did notice it to start improving only 1 month ago so I hope 6 more months of possible improvement will get me satisfied. Yes The styling is different but I just feel my original hair is not yet at the same length as before surgery, so it looks more suitable like this for now. i had no issues with minoxidil but I will probably start finasteride too. I was told 1 mg 3 times a week. Is this good enough compared to the original daily dose?
Senior Member Britanium Posted September 6, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted September 6, 2020 You may even see continued improvement over the 12 month point.
Senior Member Future Hair Doc Posted September 6, 2020 Senior Member Share Posted September 6, 2020 Welcome to the forum! As others have mentioned, 6 months is still quite early. But it does appear you're growing appropriately thus far. Thanks @JohnAC71 I did it with Dr. Taleb Barghouti. Thanks for your feedback and encouragement and for others who contributed. What do you guys think of Nizoral twice a week. I know there is some evidence on it. Any first hand experience with it?
