Three Common Issues That Are Normal After A Hair Transplant

Recommended Posts

  • 2 months later...

Greetings everyone!

I'm new to this forum and new to the process of hair transplants.

I just got my first fue hair transplant 7 days ago, and i'm really curious on the second point of the video with the "scab canals"

I noticed that 5 days after my transplant a part of the recipient area was lacking scabs and it had formed a similar canal to the ones mentioned in the video above, however in the area that the canal was, which was scab free, i couldn't see any traces of hair and it had me wondering whether that part of the recipient area had hair follicles which did not survive the procedure as approximately 10% of hair grafts sometimes do not survive the fue transplant. For that reason i'd like to ask, does this mean, that since i cannot see any hair there , that indeed the grafts did not survive, or could be an early shed of the hair in that region which happened when the scabs were gone?

The reason i'm asking this and it has me pondering is due to the fact that other parts of my recipient areas have had the scabs removed however hair could still be spotted there.

Thank you very much for your response

Sometimes the graft hair comes off with the scabs and sometimes not…either way it has nothing to do with graft survival.

Some of the grafts remain in the growth phase post-op while most go dormant…the graft hair will eventually fall out and after 3-4 months, the regrowth begins.

Many people think they will become handsome in a month......I don't think that's true.

Any process in our body is a complex system that requires much time. Not sure what you mean.  Going to the bathroom (1 or 2) takes little to no time.

But there are times when it is necessary to speed up all the functions. Like what? for example....

only could help me because that is the city where the best specialists work. Perhaps we should all go there!

But I want to note that accelerating such processes is undesirable, leading to irreparable consequences. Again, what are you talking about?

These photos were taken same day post op.  My doctor said it's just some bruising from the extraction but I'm just worried it might be permanent or hopefully will heal on its own.  Should I apply like vitamin e oil or let it heal on its own?

hey as with anything there is no guarantee, but this is not abnormal at all from what I have seen after the hair is transplanted some continues to grow others dont then most to all of them fall out including some of the native hair in that region due to trauma of the surgery. there is no need for concern at such an early stage by month 6 you should be able to judge better on your results but dont forget it can take 12-24 months for FULL Results . there are ways to promote the process to be quicker  once your scalp is headed from surgery maybe lets say month 3 consult your dr about doing derma rolling once a week this can help speed the regrowth process... also a simple thing to do after month one is scalp massage for 5  min 1-2 times a day this can help promote blood flow and make hair wake up quicker and healthier best part its free! I hope this helps just be careful your first month of healing and always consult your dr with all concerns!

Bleeding, infection, bruising around the eyes are “not” common post-op.

Nope, some swelling/edema yes, itching for most yes, bleeding/bruising/infection is most certainly not common.

Out of the list, itching can be a good sign that healing is taking place.

Just wanted to point out that itching “can be” a good sign of healing, however itching can also be a sign of an infection.

That varies between approximately 10-14 days post-op however it is highly advisable to follow what your surgeon recommends.
