killbyinches
I started taking propecia about 2 weeks ago and almost immediately my sex drive went through the roof. I am constantly horny and thinking about sex all the time. From the research I've been doing online propecia should have the exact opposite effect. I've stopped taking the drug a few days ago and my sex drive is returning to normal. Has anyone else had a similar reaction to propecia?
Senior Member Reverse the Curse Posted July 1, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 1, 2009 no if they did all men would take propecia. you are the exception. rtc
Bill - Seemiller
Killbyinches, Ever hear the expression, "Never Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth"? :-). I agree with RTC. Reported side effects (though rare) include a lessening of the sex drive. You apparently have achieved the opposite effect. As to why however, I couldn't tell you. If you're concerned about it, you may want to speak with a doctor. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member mmhce Posted July 1, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 1, 2009 I think I had a similar side-effect, though not "through the roof" take care...
Shang
I've been on proscar for 8 months and my sex drive increased also, my girlfriend aint to happy about it though!
Senior Member Petchski Posted July 1, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 1, 2009 Some people find that proscar initially gives them a testosterone surge, hence the increased libido. It will normalise, your socks are safe. -------------------------------------- My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Feller Dr Feller Jan '09 2000 grafts Dr Lorenzo Dec '15 2222 grafts
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted July 1, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 1, 2009 An increased libido is more likely than experiencing ED from Propecia according to Merk. or at least that's what Rassman says. Senior Member KeepingWhatIHave Posted July 15, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2009 My pill is orange... and it's destroyed my drive so far. I've been on it for just two full days, and it's already scaring the hell out of me. I'm staying optimistic for the next few months though. If this keeps up, I don't know what I'll do :\ I must say you've very lucky.
Senior Member Mr. GQ Posted July 15, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2009 My pill is orange... LOL you didn't get MrJobi's question but yeah definitely give it few months to see if things will improve for you and then go from there. also keep taking vitamin B complex, vitamin C and MSMs as that might balance some things out for you. i said it might, so go with all that few months and report back and let us know if things improved for you. good luck and all the best! P.S. i had it too but it went away after appx. 2-3 months so my advice is don't give up and give those vitamins a try as i think that's what helped me. Senior Member KeepingWhatIHave Posted July 15, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2009 Haha, I'm up far too early so I missed that =P Also thanks for the reply. Did it actually go away completely for you? I don't mind if it affects it a little bit, but last night, my boyfriend and I had quite a lot of trouble, then decided to stop and do something else. I just feel kind of numb from the waist down, and a bit cloudy minded. Not sure if that's from the pill, but I hope that goes away too. I'm a bit scared and jittery, but trying my best to stay positive. *slaps self* Stay strong!
Regular Member P.D Posted July 15, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted July 15, 2009 Mine too, my gf is sore and I'm banned from going round to hers till the weekend now. Looks like I'm gonna have to bookmark a few porn sites to fill the gap.
Senior Member Mr. GQ Posted July 20, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 20, 2009 Did it actually go away completely for you? yes it did. but the 3 month slump wasn't so bad to begin with and it never effected me in any really concerning manner. but surely i'm glad that it disappeared completely. Senior Member JohnS Posted July 21, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 21, 2009 Taking any of these AR inhibitors can be a roller coaster ride. A much better alternative would be to consider Equol, though it is more expensive, its side effect profile is much easier to live with.
Senior Member PD Posted July 23, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 23, 2009 oh man, that scares the hell out of me... without any medicine, for some reason my sex drive went up recently... wonder what i would have done if i had started taking it and had the same affect... hey who's that "P.D" ?? my imposter ? ;-) just kidding..
